Hello out there!

As a new member I have a problem. I've been reading so much about vaping, I'm lost!:confused: I've decided to try vaping after being a smoker for 30 years. I had a heart attack 8 months ago, and I've tried to quit many times before then and since.
So, I discovered this forum, joined, and started looking.

I want to order my first starter kit, but I'm probably looking on the wrong thread for company ordering info.

I wish there was a search engine that would let me type in what I want, and then list what's available. (Whaaaaa:confused:) OK, I've stopped now! Venting, that is!

I'm going to take a break, then try one more time.

P.S. If by chance there is anyone who would be so kind as to point me to the right threads, I'll bake you some cookies!

If you go to the bottom left of this page you'll see a drop down box. You can find reviews and go to the individual suppliers threads to find more information and ask questions. If you have a general question, you can ask in this thread and people here will respond, usually in droves. Glad you found this site. It has been nothing short of a miracle for me. I smoked for thirty years before trying e-cigs. Happy hunting! :)

I highly recommend a 510 kit from CigNot...

Joye 510 NO BOX

I have had great success and have been analog free for over 3 months..

I was a 25 year smoker myself...

I Second, and motion...

Well I second. Get different MG liquids so you can find your happy place. Get extra carts also. (Don't ever let your cartridge get too dry. You'll burn up an atty.)

Welcome to the forum!

As mentioned above, a ton of people suggest dealing with the ladies at Cignot and they have a great price on the 510 kit. I've poured through these forums and many people say this is the device which finally aided them in quitting analogs altogether. I can't speak from experience in using the 510 but it seems to be the most popular unit for a reason!

Ask yourself this question first:

1. Do I need it to look like a cig? So many of us start out on this boat and then within days/weeks decide this is no longer of importance. Generally speaking, the units that look most like cigs are not the best when it comes to performance/maintenance (i.e. having to change batteries all the time, etc.)

If you answered "no" above and are willing to pay more for a kit, I would look into the Janty eGo or the Totally Wicked Tornado (same device, different branding). I have yet to read a negative review on it. The beauty is in the battery life - one battery can last you the entire day depending on how frequently you vape. It is basically a juiced up 510, yet still small enough that you could take it out and about as your main PV (personal vaporizer). I think it looks pretty slick and classy. In comparison, a 510 battery will last you a couple of hours but most kits come with two and there are charging accessories to use on the go - still a lot of fiddling around.

I am entering my second attempt at the ecig - what I found the first time is I am not big on the maintenance and carrying around extra batteries etc. I also bought a PV that "looked like an analog" but found it not give me the performance I need to forget about smokes entirely (vapor and throat hit). I am awaiting my eGo which was shipped today :)

If you do need it to look like a cig, I have also heard good things about Vapor4Life and their Vapor Kings. These closely resemble a regular analog and seem to give good battery life and performance. They also use cartomizers which are disposable so you don't have to deal with filling cartridges all the time (another PITA) but it is more economical to buy your own juice and refill.

I hope this helps a bit! :)

The 510 gets a lot of attention because of its superior vapor production. The 510 is also the type of atomizer that it uses. The 510 atty can be used on a varity of custom made battery holders, which is what mods are. Altsmoke's Silver bullet will take a 510 as will Pursmoker's Prodigy V2. These larger 'battery holders' give you more power to last many hours of vap'n.

Another atty is the 801 (also referred to as a 'penstyle' atty) which produces a lot of vapor.

This learning curve for finding the PV that works for you is part of the process of discovery in the world of vap'n. Take your time. Be easy with your journey and above all have fun.

I would recommend getting a large battery mod (Protected batteries only).

I would have saved me a TON of money in batteries. (The drawback is that you only have on mod at the price, and if IT gets damaged [rare?] you are out of luck unless you have a backup. Nobody wants to go back to buying a pack of analogue smokes if you havn't need them in a while.)

THE CHUCK is what I have. The 510 batteries only last me little while, and I don't have the pocket-room to hold 5 if I am out and about with no source of electricity for a charge.

I have to agree with the OP on the incredible confusion. But it taught me something about myself.
The nature of me being an addict (to nicotine) is that I want what I want and I want it yesterday.
I sort of rushed into buying a starter kit, but I lucked out that it was pretty good advice. However, I didn't really read up enough and today, about two days after I started vaping, I almost had a meltdown because I wasn't getting good vape...I was ready to chuck it all.
Also lucky for me, I latched on to someone here on the forum who was very patient with me. He offered great advice but the best advice of all was this- if I remain patient and learn how to do this properly the rewards will be great for me in just a few days.
So yes, start vaping as soon as you wish but also remember that if we newbies take this in steps, learning as we go, we'll be much better off in the long run.
I also got the 510 starter from Cignot, mostly because of the price but also because I read generally good reviews all over the forum. However, I didn't order any e-liquid and the pre-filled carts didn't seem to be real full, may have dried a bit. So my atty dried out.
Emails to my buddy from here as well as patiently reading suggestions on the forum will get me back on the road as soon as my liquid arrives. Until then, I need to tough it out with analogs for another day or two.
Lesson learned.
Good Luck!

    Good for you for taking the first steps. I love the 510 and cignot is great.

    A little story for you. A co-worker had a heart attack about 1 1/2 years ago. He was told he had to quit smoking. He tried everything out there and wasn't able to stop. Recently, I helped him get set up with a 510 and while he didn't completely quit analogs right away, he cut down to only a few per day. Today he told me that without really trying, he hasn't smoked in 3 days and has no more desire to do so. He has gotten his son, girlfriend and another friend started on vaping. I am so happy for him and his health.

    You can do it, take your time and ask questions when you need.

    Hey there;

    I took the plunge and ordered a 510 from Cignot. How fast are they at shipping? And I looked on their site, but didn't find a USB passthrough for the 510 by itself. It comes with a different starter kit than what I ordered. I'd like to have a USB passthrough, as well as the AC charger that's in my starter kit. Also, I think I read somewhere in this vast repository of knowledge:) that there is an adapter to hook to so you can use your car cig lighter for charging. Any info on that as well would be fantastic!

    Many thanks as well for your patience with this noob! You are all great!:D Happy vaping!

    rosesense;

    I'm glad your friend is doing so well with vaping. I wish him all the best and I'll keep him in my prayers. A heart attack is a scary thing. I'm thankful mine was relatively minor. My cardio doc told me if the MI had been any worse, I would have been a goner. As it was, my artery was 99% blocked. This was after I had been on meds for high blood pressure and cholesterol for nearly 10 years!

    I've been reading the success stories, and it gives me hope. I'm glad your friend is one of them!

    Thanks so much for everything.:)

    Hey trukin,
    I started with a 510 and I QUIT analogs! I smoked for 30 years and tried everything. It aint easy. At least it was tough at first. I hit that 510 constantly and just did not seem satisfied. Then I got some 36 mg and I could actually put it down for awhile.
    I ended up switching to an 808 and life is easy. Good luck in your venture and it would be cheaper for you to ship cookies right here in the Bluebird State!

    PLEASE EXCUSE MY BRAIN CRAMP!!:oops::oops:
    After working so hard on my post, imagine my chagrin when I went to the Cignot website and found exactly what I was looking for!:oops::lol: And I actually placed another order! How I overlooked the accessories yesterday is a mystery to me. I'll just have to blame it on TMI (too much info)
    But I'm a happy camper now that I have extra carts, juice, and the famous USB passthrough!:)
    Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know I answered my own question.

    C U later on the boards.

    Hi eighttrucktires;

    Thanks for the encouragement! It IS tough to get away from. I was finally able to admit I was addicted after my latest attempt to quit didn't work. I'm hoping these e-cigs will work for me. I'm starting out with the 25mg strength. I've smoked 2 packages a day for a long time. But since I smoke the ultra lights analogs, I'm hoping I can get my 510 close to what I'm used to, and gradually taper down in strength.

    Hey btw, where in Mo are you? I live near Springfield. You're right about shipping cookies!
