Hi I'm new here. I've been lurking for a number of days. Just thought I'd pop my head out.
All the info on this site is so helpful but a wee bit overwhelming. I'm wanting to start the vaping experience (I'm an analog user). I bought a disposable e-cig and figured out that I probably want a 901 since the throat hit on the disposable was waaay too much for me and the 901 is known to be "smoother". Now I'm having a problem finding a supplier. I've read about some places that people have liked and looked at many. I've seen some that didn't have the items I was looking for and others that either prices or shipping prices held me back. I probably just need to decompress and read more?? I was hoping to place an order with someone tonight but it looks like research shall continue.

I am with you too on the information overload. I will say that the people on this forum are incredible...very helpful. And it seems like there is always someone who can relate to whatever your questions or concerns are. Keep reading and ask questions, good luck to you!:)

Hello and welcome this is a great place with a wealth of information and good people to lend a hand. You might look in the 901 section maybe you can find it there if not someone will pop on and help you. I got my 501 from cignot. they have good prices and fast shipping but you'll have to see if they have 901s. Cig not doesn't have them Vapor4life and totally wicked both carry 901s

cignot only do the joye510 so if you want a 901 you'll have to look elsewhere.
Its a good, nay GREAT, idea to read as much as you assimiliate before buying and all the brands have their fans and detractors so you sort of have to make a list of 'wants' and find the closest fit. For example:
Do you want a 3 piece unit or a 2 piece?
What kind of battery life
Must it be a certain size/color?
Things like that :)

Go to a reputable supplier, start with something cheap but well reviewed on this forum to just get started. You may find yourself going through several different models / brands / juice vendors before settling in. Any of the major popular models such as the 510, 901, or KR808 will provide a very good first experience - at least it does so for most people. I am happy with the Vapor King from Vapor4Life, but there are many other equally happy users with different models and vendors. Just don't start with the mass market crappy "free trial" offers like I got suckered into at first. One thing I like to point out which is completely independent of your purchasing choice, is the poll forum. If you spend a little time there, the most amazing statistic is how many people no longer smoke tobacco at all anymore after discovering the ecig option; far more successful than any other smoking cessation product, hands down. Best of all, you don't have to quit the habit, just the horrible combustion of massive amounts of carcinogens. So don't worry about how deep the water is, jump in and start swimming!

You already have some good advice. I would add that I understand about it being overwhelming but I suggest just diving into it. If you are like most of us, your first one won't be the only one anyway. I started one month ago with a Volcano and since then have added a 401, 510 and Kr88. They are all good, each has pros and cons but love my 510 the most of all.

Good luck whichever one you choose. I am not familiar with the 901 except I heard it was compatible with some of the 510 stuff so I assume they are similar. I could be wrong, though.

Thank you for all your replies/greetings. Yeah, I know there's much more to know but I'm liking the "just dive in" thought. As was mentioned I noticed not many people go without trying other models.
I really need a option to smoke (well vape...get my nicotine lol) inside the house when raiding but if I quit analogs as a result all the better!

Welcome, katattack! Yes, the pool is big, but the water is fine! Dive in! No matter what model you pick, there will be a learning curve, and no model is perfect. Good ones to consider for a first PV:

    510
    901
    801
    KR808d-1 (2-piece)

They all require patience to get use to and make sure they are functioning optimally. They are all a bit finicky. Throat hit, vapor amount and smoothness is as much a function of the juice as the PV. My 510 is very smooth and silky when I want it to be, and it can really give a good wack when I want that. Right now I'm vaping a 12 mg pralines and cream in VG that is more like a soft dessert. In the morning I'll drip a few drops of 24 mg tobacco and the TH will make me forget to drink my morning coffee. Any of these can be very flexible if you know how to use them properly, and no matter which, that will take a little time.

I listed those models because they have a large following each, and there is a ton of info on each, and I think that is the most important thing for new users.

Get a kit and a range of juices with various nic strengths and flavors. You cannot predict what nic level you will be happiest at based on your smoking habits. It just doesn't work that way, as strange as that sounds. Just too many variables of nic absorption differences between people, vaping styles, how deep, how long, metabolism differences, etc. You can always dilute juice that is too high with glycerin, but if you get too low you'll be back to the analogs. And as for that, hopefully you will quit, but you may not entirely at first. Chances are you will at least greatly reduce your smoking, and that is a good enough first step. Don't listen to those that say they quit after the first vape...they may have, but not everyone did, and some (like me) still need a couple real ones a day. This isn't a quitting contest, this is just an alternative to smoking. Enjoy it, because it is VERY enjoyable, for sure, like OMG this tastes so good!! Its not a magic bullet, but it is kinda magic...recreational magic.

No matter what you pick, there will be snarks that tell you you picked wrong. They need to cut back on the nic, I think. But I do think with the models I listed you can't go wrong, and you'll find out a lot. Given how much you spend on cigarettes, a bad initial PV choice is pretty inexpensive to fix by getting a different one. I personally think the 510 is the best first PV, great right out of the box, and easily improved upon. If you want total mobile convenience without carrying little bottles, the KR808d-1 will do very well.

Come on in! The juice is fine!! :D

Well, I got the dse901 manual starter kit, an extra atomizer, extra blank carts, the usb passthrough (plan on using a lot on the puter), got a sampler of juice, got some unflavored stonger nic juice and some 0mg juice to cut til I find my ideal strength.
I toyed with getting another battery but I figure with 2 and a passthrough I should be set.
Now I just have to wait! *taps foot* :)

    Raiding? WoW?

It never occured to me that since I started vaping, and if I successfully kick analogues , my gaming & reading won't be interrupted to go smoke. :):)

I hear you loud and clear on the information overload. It took me some time to wrap my head around all of it but once you ask any questions you have it will all start to make sense. I bought an e-cig (a firelight) and it wasn't strong enough for me. I put more money on the table and wound up buying a BB from altsmoke.com and I friggin LOVE it. It is 901 and 510 compatible. I personally am using 510. This little gadget puts out tons of vapor, has an incredible battery life, and is small and petite for carrying in my pocket. I'm not sure what your price range is or what kind of vapor you are looking for (menthol, tobacco, fruit flavors) but depending on that there's tons of suppliers. You should start first with what kind of device you want to use. I personally recommend the BB!

You are right on the money here. Everyone is different. You have to find the one that is best for you, trial and error. Just don't give up, you will find the right one.:)

After looking at a myriad of options, I had to just take the plunge. I opted for a V4L starter kit and an assortment of juices and carts. I've been experimenting for several days now and it hit me today that, in that time, I haven't had an analog! Woohoo! I was so absorbed in vaping and all the juices, carts and whatnot, I forgot to smoke! Haha! So, I say take the plunge and enjoy! It's all good!
