An interesting article Ania. I am not surprised to see that separating the nicotine base from the flavored liquids has occurred to others as well. It seems like an obvious workaround to flavor regulations, but it seems like those writing the regulations don't have enough knowledge of the products they want to regulate to anticipate things like this. I don't know whether to hope that they stay stupid, or wise up. I guess that depends on whether they are just uninformed or they are willfully trying to destroy the entire e cigarette industry.

One of the most expensive things to comply with would be the requirement for the device to deliver a consistent dose of nicotine throughout its use. That would call for a complete redesign. Cartridges and cartomizers that use a filler material to hold the liquid would have to go, because as the liquid is used up, the draw becomes more difficult.

There does not seem to be any health-related reason for the requirement. Smokers had no guarantee of getting the same amount of nicotine from every puff of smoke.
