Innokin Endura - downside is this mod appears to be an unregulated mechanical mod (no protection circuitry for a novice). There would be no way for your brother to adjust the vape on the fly should he prefer a warmer or cooler vape. It also uses an internal battery that can not be replaced, so if the battery drains too low he won't be able to vape until the battery is recharged again. I'm not a fan of built-in USB mod chargers because the inputs can wear prematurely and may have sub-par wiring. Generally speaking, Innokin makes quality products in my experience.

A regulated (electronici) mod would be a better choice for your brother. Not only will it have protection circuitry against short circuits (things that cause fires and explosions), but it will have variable power options to allow him to adjust the vape to his preference.

Concerning the e-liquid and the nic content - you didn't mention how heavy of a smoker your brother is. Nic content is generally recommended via the number of cigarettes smoked per day.

Throat hit is most determined by the nic content, and to a lesser degree the amount of Pg (propylene glycol) in the Pg/Vg ratio. It appears somewhat obvious by your questions that you are relatively new to vaping yourself, so maybe it would be best (and safer) for your brother to use a manufactured e-liquid.

This is not an unregulated mech mod. It is regulated to deliver 14 watts of power and it does have protection. Does not have variable wattage though. Supposed to replicate the draw and experience of smoking. There have been reports of the button sticking though ( except the silver one apparently ). Innokin will replace all the faulty ones.

Not sure to be honest. I heard it had something to do with the paint and that Innokin did recall all the units in their California warehouse and fixed the issue in later shipments, so depending on when you ordered, or when your vendor ordered actually, your unit might not have an issue. I would call the vendor i ordered from and ask. They should be aware of the problem.

Got the blue and silver one. It is a 14 watt ego sized 1000 mah little thing. Looks good and the tank fills at the top easily. It is a bit hot for me as I rarely go above 9 watts, but solved that problem with a much longer drip tip. Phil Busardo has a thumbs up review on the Endura. I do not like "throat hit" and don't get one from this setup vaping at 3 to 6 nic. :) The ones I have come from their first run and I've tried to "stick" the button on the blue. So far, it hasn't stuck; but I've only had them for a week. :)

I an thinking of getting a couple of these for cousins who smoke. Do you know how much the replacement coils cost and how many mls of juice can you go through before you need to change the coils ?

Holy cow, Mazinny! :) I'm a "chain vaper" when at home which is most of the time. I can go through the Endura's tank or the mini Nauty (also looks good on the Endura) in no time flat. :( Haven't even checked on coils yet as I think I'll use the Endura for out and about which is seldom and am still working on the two that came with each.

I use the lg. Nauty, Subtank mini, and the lg ProTanks/Davides when home and refill a couple times per day......I don't have a life. Ha! Since I go through a lot of juice, I would "imagine" I would go through coils quicker than a "normal" person.....the reason why I've learned to rebuild.

We need to find one of those "normal" people to answer your question about coil useage. Sorry couldn't be more helpful. :(

I have one and have been really loving it. I think this is the perfect starter kit for someone who smokes at the moment. It's actually really warm, but it perfectly emulates the cig experience in that way. The drip tip is exact cig size as well. I honestly can't imagine a better starter kit. I'm getting one for a friend for christmas.

Mazinny is right, Innokin is taking care of any batches with issues, and if you go to buy one now at somewhere like Myvaporstore- they should have the fixed ones in stock now. But I would double check and email them about it.

The issue is that the firing button gets stuck sometimes for a few seconds after you stop firing. It's not a huge deal for me, but it is a bummer if you're gifting it for him. So you should definitely exchange it, just because no newbie should have to deal with a weird issue like that. But I wouldn't worry about catching fire or anything like that, there is a still a fire cutoff like other mods have. This thing is well built, and super simple. If we can't trust innokin, I don't think any company can be trusted. And the lack of options are actually perfect for a newbie- nothing really for them to screw up, even if they try.

also i assure you i am not new too vaping and have been rebuilding my kanger subtank and diying for a good while also he smokes 2 packs a week and his main concern is throat hit if it has it he cant vape it so if i have too lower the nic a little so that it has no throat hit it would be better than an uncomfortable vape
Do at least 50/50 PG/VG pr maybe 40/60 to lower the throat hit. 6mg with me using 50/50 does not give too much throat hit except when using Hangsen Desert Ship tobacco flavor.
I do not like throat hit and I was a 40 year smoker of Marlboros and the like.
To me the throat hit thing is like convincing people that a problem with the system of vaping is an asset.
But that is just me.
Also lower watts for cooler vape keeps the throat hit down.

Anthony, I have the silver and blue. Apparently no problem reported on the silver at all, only with the colored ones due to paint? Anyway, even with trying to "stick" the blue button, haven't been able to.

I've put on my mini Nauty with a coil of 1.8 ohms and a replacement glass from Bedazzle Tubes with painted flowers on it and the little blue drip tip that comes with the kit and get a cooler vape and decent vapor. It's a cutie little thing, and I think Innokin could easily solve the "too hot" problem with higher ohm'd coils?......although theirs are top mounted so I could very well be wrong on this.
