Hi everyone - I'm 8 days off cigs! I'm using the new Endura T18 which is awesome. It's optimized to 14 watts and the tank has 1.5ohm coils. I really like the SLAM throat hit I get with my 24mg juice but I hear so much about going lower on the nic especially on the sub-ohm setups.

Any thoughts on whether this is too high a nic level on this particular set up? Would this be considered a sub-ohm set up? I wouldn't think so?

I also am vaping my Kanger Subox Nano at 9mg occasionally to switch up the flavors but the throat hit is not as SATISFYING as it is with the other setup/nic level. Throat hit is really key to my experience right now, maybe not so much down the line, I don't know.

Thanks, y'all!

Congrats on being cig-free for eight days! :)
Getting the throat hit is what's working for you right now, so don't change anything until that stops being important to you. It's very common after being off the cigs that the throat hit doesn't matter as much and actually starts being somewhat annoying; dropping down a nic level in your juice will mitigate that. There are plenty of people here who started at high nic levels and eventually dropped down to low or zero nic content juice. And there are a few that are still content with 12mg juice in their rigs. All a matter of what satisfies you.

I started at 24mg with my eGrip. Usually ran around 12-14 watts on 1.5 ohm coils. Worked perfect for me. That throat hit when I took my first vape of the eGrip is what sold me on vaping. I think it was key to getting me off the analogs.
Now after 6 months I've become more interested in the 'old school' vape gear. My favorite today is my 650mah Evod with slightly modified air flow. No longer even use the eGrip cuz it won't go lower than 8 watts.
Don't get sucked into following the masses chasing after all the latest and greatest overpowered overhyped gear if you don't need to. After all the 'old school' gear is what made vaping what it is today.

Thats basically what has worked best for me! Im down to 18mg nic on the +ohm devices and 10-12mg on the -ohm devices.
Do whatever it takes to keep off the analogs, but your off to a great start IMHO!

I've been using 24mg for over 4 years, I was a 2 pack a day smoker so throat hit is an important component that kept me from smoking, I see new vapers using 6-12mg and going back and forth between the vape and cigs, recently a couple of my favorite eliquids were discontinued in 24mg so I'm using 18 and just fine with it...I use Kayfuns exclusively and my builds are between .7 and .85 ohm and this setup emulates a cigarette very closely.

I would have to respectfully disagree with one of your points.
The constant feeding batteries to the battery charger is what turned me off to "old school"vaping 5 yrs ago. I just recently tried it again and am having success due to the fact I no longer have to be tethered to a USB cord, and can lock the device so it isn’t firing or breaking in half my pocket every step I take! And these new devices are pretty close to the same price as the junk that came from China in that first shipment, lol.

My old school "Mod" ( what Mechs used to be called) was basically a pipe bomb. Its a good thing we have all these new styles of devices, one never gets bored!

It's a very different vapeworld today, during my first couple years most of my time was spent doing maintenance and trying to prevent leaks but I stuck with it and now enjoy virtually maintenance-free vaping with all my devices today...and a $40 D2 performs just as good as a $300 vaporflask, that's all I was saying really.

LOL. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree and I will digress to your experience. ;)

I've only been vaping for 6 months. But I have yet to experience any boredom. I'm having a blast playing with all this simple stuff and discovering how to get the vape that pleased me from it. And I will admit that my Cloupor Mini+50 watt with TC Does a fine job of powering my slightly modified Evod-ish tanks at a 3.3 volt setting.

To this day i still vape between 10 and 14 watts on coils that are in the 1.5 to 2.0 ohm range . I have devices and tanks that can handle a lot lower ohm builds and higher wattage but i much prefer lower wattage vaping and i get great flavor as well .

For the first year i also vaped 24 mg juice then dropped to 18 mg and now i stay at between 12 - 14 mg . Whatever satisfies you is the only thing that matters .

You guys are AWESOME. It's good to know what I'm doing fits into what others are doing, somehow. Makes me feel "safer" and "within the norm." (Although everyone's got their own kind of weirdness going on too!) Glad to know people are still on the 24mg & 18mg juices.

Thanks for clarifying that the coils are what makes vaping sub-ohming or not.

I just love this Innnokin Endura and it does emulate the feeling of smoking really well. It's a THRILL and a DELIGHT to not be smoking those analogs!!

I never dreamed this would happened even though I began collecting all kinds of equipment and paraphernalia 2 years ago. I sat out for about a year and all of a sudden here's all these box mods and sub-ohming stuff.

Thanks again and I'm vaping on!

I fought it for months but have finally succumb to the advantages a regulated mod provides, and they're so simple, a battery comes off the charger at 4.2 volts, just set your wattage until you get to 4.2 volts of power and vape happy with a constant 4.2 volts no matter the battery's charge level.

And for anyone looking to take the next step just pick up an IPV D2, D3 or eVic VTC Mini and a Kanger SubTank Mini, the whole setup can be had for 75 bucks or less

Bottom line in this discussion, whether you're using a mod that costs $30 or $300, if you're vaping happy and not smoking cigarettes that's all that matters.

This is hands down the most awesomest forum on the planet. It's great to hear that we helped you feel a tad safer. As for being 'within the norm' I sincerely apologize if I had anything to do with that!:?:

That is one of the few new Mods that I found interesting when I first saw it. Had high hopes of winning one in a contest here but my luck was weak on that one. Glad to hear it's working well for you.

I have been vaping for almost 2 years now. Was a 2-pack per day cigarette smoker previously. Smoked for more than 40 years.
____________________________________

I now make my own coils and juice. This is what I have found that I like:

Single Kanthal 27 gauge coil at about 1.3 ohms.

I feed this coil 12.5 watts

DIY juice is 40% PG / 60% VG - 15mg Nic

I vape mouth to lung (as I would if smoking a cigarette)

.

Congratulations on your now 9 days of being smoke free

I smoked for 45 + years and have now been vaping for over 4 years. I started with a cig-a-like and 24mg e-liquid. Found 24 was to much once I moved from cig-a-likes to ego type batteries so lowered to 18. Stayed on 18 for a very long time. Over the years I dropped the strength of my nic as my body let me know that it was time. I never plan on being nic free. It wasn't the nicotine in my smokes that I was trying to get away from.

I am now pretty well set on 12 to 15mg. I tried lowering my nic even lower but found I prefer the taste of the higher nic e-liquid so will probably stay where I am. My coils are 1.8, e-liquid is 60pg/40vg (or close to that. I make it myself and just guess) and I set my batteries at about 7.5-8 watts.

It is hard to tell exactly how much e-liquid I vape daily since I have several flavors going at all times but if I had to guess I would have to say about 5 mls a day. I do MTN (Mouth Through Nose) since I don't have to pull it into my lungs to get what I need from the vape. I figure that my lungs are thanking me.

Your question can only be answered on an individualized basis. If 24 is working for you, and you feel everything is in balance, have at it.

I started on 18 mg. Coming straight off the cigs, it was ok, but within a month I was down to 12 mg. I'm way more into flavor and vapor production than nic. Now 12 mg is actually too strong, only reason I still vape 12 mg (only in my tanks though, 3mg is as high as I care to go with my RDA's) is because I'm sitting on a large stockpile of it. Gradually, I'm acquiring 0 nic of the flavors I already have and mixing 50/50 with the 12 mg I have on hand.

In other words, your needs will change. The big game changer in lowering my nic needs was getting into RDA's. Now I crave flavor and clouds over all else.
