As I promised in this thread, here I'm going to post my thoughts on using the Goby so far. I got my package on Monday, so I've been using this a couple of days now. I got two kits which each come with a mod and a tank, and a third tank, as well as two 5-packs of spare coils. All that with shipping ran about $90, the kit itself is about $25.
I'm going to compare this thing to the Juul as a sort of baseline, for a couple of reasons. One is that the Juul was what sort of drew me back to vaping after a hiatus, so I've used it recently. The other is that I think this is a good device for users of pod systems to sort of "graduate" to.
The first thing I notice about the Goby when I take it out of the box is its size. Not as compact as the Juul but it's definitely the smallest mod I've owned (click for image).
Maybe mods in this size aren't uncommon anymore. Last time I was vaping regularly wasn't long after the eLeaf iStick came out and it seemed like the compactness of that device was a pretty big deal at the time. Two of these easily fit into the little pencil bag I bought to carry vape gear around in. It has a standard 510 connector so if you like the mod but want a different tank, you can do that. There are 5 power settings starting at 10 W going up to 13.5 W. I've been vaping it at the lowest power on the lowest airflow on the tank and that gives plenty of vapor for a MTL hit. The battery life I think is very good for it's size, I think I vaped pretty hard on it the first day, on and off, for about 3 and a half hours before the battery indicator turned yellow (green, yellow, and red for battery indication). I will say that the placement of the battery indicator is kind of annoying, it's right below the button and only lights up when you fire the mod, so to see the battery status you have to either tap the button really fast while looking at it (so you aren't burning up juice) or take the tank off and push the button. I haven't taken it down to red but from yellow the mod charges in an hour or so, so if you have two of these you can vape all day without interruption. That's about it on the mod, it seems like a sturdy little device, pretty simple to use, and gives enough power at least for me.
The tank has the modern design where you unscrew at the bottom to change the coil and at the top to fill, so filling it isn't difficult at all and can be done without taking the tank off the mod. It has adjustable airflow with multiple holes instead of a slot, so there are 3 airflow settings. It has a 1.6 ohm coil, which it seems to me that the coil resistance doesn't matter so much now that mods are mostly regulated on watts instead of volts, but there you go. I haven't been able to find the size in any documentation, but I'm pretty sure it's a 1.5 mL tank, so fairly small. As I said previously, I'm vaping this MTL. Compared to the Juul the airflow on this, on the lowest setting, is somewhat loose, so if you're switching over you'll want to pull gently at first. At 10 W, it already produces more vapor than the Juul. The juice I'm vaping is a high-nicotine liquid I got from White Cloud to refill Juul pods with, it is 5.4% nicotine by volume, which I think I saw somewhere that the conversion factor is about 10, so over 50 mg/mL. It's probably too strong for this device, I was starting to feel over-nicotined vaping it at first, so now I'm taking shorter puffs and plan to step down the nicotine level when I order liquid again. The tank has been tight and solid, I've had no issues with leaks or flooding, and haven't had any dry or burned hits either. With the liquid I'm using I got through about 4 tanks before it started tasting off and I had to change the coil. With the Juul I was getting 3 or 4 fills on a pod. So 6 mL before changing the coil on this vs. 2-3 mL on a Juul pod, and the coils for this are $2 each, so compared to the Juul it wins hands-down on cost-effectiveness. All in all this is definitely the best tank I've owned for the way I vape, but I don't see people on the forum talking about it like it's the best tank ever, so maybe that just shows how far vaping has come in the last 2 to 3 years.
In summary, I'd say this mod and tank combo is great for someone who vapes strong liquid MTL, if you're on a pod system and are looking for something more cost-effective this is a great device. If you're looking for a cloud monster this isn't it, but for me I think I've found my setup.
