I've had the SVD for a week. Everything has been great up until today. Using AW IMR 18650 and efest.
When I go to press the power button it fires and then every 3-5 button presses it doesn't respond. I look down and no green light. Release and press again it fires and light is green. I've switched from tanks to cartomizers, I-16,I-30, boge Cartomizers. Problem occurs with any type used.

Any thoughts

This may not be your problem but... my daughter was using mine and she complained of the same thing. I watched her vape for a couple minutes and saw it happen...... then noticed she was "sliding her thumb" to the fire button, When I told her to deliberately press it straight down ( no slide motion) it never happened again. Just a thought.

Granted that Innokin seems to be more involved in listening to their customers than most but there is always room for improvement.

Just wanted to say that anyone who has a picture of Jack Elam as their avatar has to be cool. He was priceless in "Support Your Local Sheriff" :) JD

I appreciate your input, but no thats not an issue. Thanks for the thought.

Welcome , and after watching a PBusardo review of the SVD , I kinda wanted one . But after looking around , I found a Sigelei telescoping Zmax kit ,The Zmax does the same thing as the SVD VV , and VW , etc . but only has one button . So it's alittle cheaper , and I personally have had no issues with mine . My Vamo gasket/o-ring failed ( had to replace ) but I don't even see one of those in either of my Sigelei's . But good Luck , in which ever one , you choose .

Okay, I know this is probably MONTHS too late, but I would avoid both Zmax models - Sigelei and Smoketech. They both have button problems, and if you do a search on it, you won't have a problem finding people complaining of it, either. I had mine a month before it started, and at six weeks, I sent it back to Discount Vapers and am awaiting my refund.

Well I am requesting my 2nd rma on my beloved SVD. 1st one the button would not come back up after about 2-3 weeks. 2nd one (replacement) week old turns off and have to click 3 times to get back on vape and do the same next vape, also wonky when try to set up down on volt or watt's. other than that I love it.

Thank you! And don't forget his role in "Support Your Local Gunfighter"! And of course a very short lived series called "Frankenstein And Me" where he played the role of the Frankenstein Monster without makeup!

I was at the grand opening of the Altsmoke shop in Lexington, KY on 10/26. I talked to some of the folks there and they have had some issues with the switch on the SVD going bad which of course they replaced.

Knock on wood, I have one of the very first production models and have never had an issue with the switch.

Having my new VTR in hand, I thought I would look around to see if anyone else had the same issues with my beloved SVD, seems I was not alone. I've had mine about 4 months now, and really no complaints about her. She's solid, rugged, and works very well. However about a month into our relationship the fire button lost it's springy snap, not sure if this just happened, or maybe when she got a little top heavy and fell over. Regardless she still worked, but was a little funny with how you had to turn her off, and on. Sometimes she would turn off right in the middle of a hit, and you'd have to stop and turn her back on.

Now that I've finally gotten her replacement, I figured it was about time to see what I could do about fixing her without having to worry about being without my APV.. So I tore into her..

Those rings around the buttons seem only to be press fitted in, so with some tape on a sturdy set of pliers, I went at her. The fire button ring came off easier than I thought it would, and I'm now looking deep inside her.. Yea.. Should have taken pics...

So the problem with mine was that the spring inside the micro button either broke, or came loose, the plastic plunger just sort of flopped around inside the switch housing..

If you attempt this fix, you'll see more what I'm talking about when you see the underside of the fire button. The punger sits in the hole in the middle of the button, and has a nice thick wall on it, so I found a spring, really converted a ball point pen spring with a little cutting, and bending, and fit it around the outside of the button bottom. As it happens the switch also has a nice deck around the plunger as well, so it seemed to match up quite nicely. Match it all back up and get the press fit ring back on, and while it still does not have it's click.. It definitely does have some spring back in it, which should help with the random turn off's and wonky button presses.

Hope this gives hope to SVD lovers out there.. I'm tempted to buy her sister from FT.. :p

I just upgraded or so I thought from my ego twist with kanger evods and protank2, to the svd, ordered from a usa vendor on ebay, it's genuine, beautiful, heavy, also ordered two aw imr 2000mah batts and a dual trustfire charger in the package deal, problem with the fire switch, as above, glows green gives a vape occasionally, have to press in dead center, it also flickers if not pressed really hard, which tricks the device to think you did a 3 click off, so it turns off when you go to fire it most times, I researched hard before choosing this device, the ohms reader is dead on with my digital multimeter, I am trying to return it fast from fl to cali within the 7 day period, I wrote them, they said they will exchange if found faulty which it definitely is, the switch is very poor sadly, there are disassembles on here somewhere, they show a thin stalk between the button and inside board, it flexes, some have it stick in/on, I'm sad because the replacement will ultimately have a problem too if you Google svd switch problem, a friend got one and recommended it, turns out she had a similar issue at first but it got better but has to be pressed ridiculously hard, I can't get a vape off it, even sitting there untouched a while, hit the fire button it flickers a bit one out of two times and unit turns off, I've checked resistance of bottom cap to tube etc, it's a dud switch, it's inner switch is tiny compared to other similar priced devices, I had my mind set on the smok Sid, but was worried about one button navigation, I'm sorry I didn't go with my gut instinct, anyway they don't sell vmax, kmax, sid, or vamo, most of which suffer from control head issues etc, I will probably be given another svd, genuine innokin serial with scratch off verification but I know now from thepics Ive seen of the switch assembly it wont last, and I am ocd gentle and careful with equipment, I'm back on the old reliable ego twist with a coil I built for it's evod last night vaping clouds at 1.9ohms while the beautiful svd sits inside waiting for me to express ship at my cost back to vendor, I'm pretty bummed, now I see why mech mods are popular, I can't really fix this switch, in a mech I could, this switch base is 3mm*3mm soldered on a tiny circuit board, I wanted ego, 510,and skirt/beauty ring, it has it all and safety, so safe it doesn't work :( I'll update

I am disappointed with mine. It loves to turn off for no apparent reason, no matter what battery I try and how charged it is.
It also does not hit consistently as the battery goes down like my Vamo did.

I am going to see if I can send it back. I'd rather have another Vamo with threads that wear out over 6 months than a SVD that gives me problems 1 week in.

That was a hard read. I have been using an SVD for 4 flawless months now. Have not had an issue in the slightest. It is a MUCH better device than the Sigelei Zmax V3- Sigelei replaced the first unit which died after a week, 6 weeks later (on the replacement-which was a slightly different model) I took a puff and all I smelled was fried electronics. So one lasted a week, and the 2nd 6-weeks. Despite me being a vendor that has made several purchases direct from them, they have not responded to me about this 2nd fried unit and I will not purchase product from them again.

I posted this in another SVD thread, but to summarize:

SVD 1 was received, and then returned after an electrical failure (I hit the +/- buttons to unlock it to change power, and smoke started coming out of the mod).

SVD 2 (the replacement) started having button issues after about a month. It wouldn't fire unless I pushed the button "just so", and it's now been put in the injured reserve cabinet until the day I feel like taking it apart to see if I can fix it.

Well I traded for one in the classifieds before I did enough research. Mistake. When I first got it, I loved it. Thought it was just great.

Two days later, the button started missing for no reason. Then the thing would turn itself off for no reason. It's progressively getting worse. I can still vape on it, but a fair percentage of the time I hit the button and start to take my hit before realizing nothing is happening.

I traded a perfectly good nemesis clone & kick for it, which I'm realizing was a big mistake. Between this and the faulty center pin on my MVP, I'm officially done with iTaste forever.
