So glad to have found this forum...and yes it is huge!
I have been dx'd with COPD and have about 47% lung function, but I do pretty well.
I have stopped smoking (analog) and during the 3 week period I smoked nothing, I felt great. I even walked the rain forest in Puerto Rico!
I have been using V2 E cigs and get a heavy feeling in my lungs and a bit of a thick cough.
I am wondering if it is because they are pg and I would do better with vg?
I am also discouraged at how quickly the batteries go bad.
Obviously I am new to the whole ecig world and am hoping that by finding this forum, I can skip many painful and expensive trials and errors and find out about the best products out there by the experts:)

I know not putting anything but good ole air would be best, but I gotta believe E Cigs are far better than analog.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Glad to have you aboard. Welcome!

You are absolutely right that inhaling room air would be best, especially with COPD.

I notice that you were able to do away and without analogs for 3 weeks and that it felt good! Honestly, if you were feeling better/best when inhaling nothing but rain-forest air.... I have to ask. Why vape then?

Please don't misunderstand me, I am not disparaging or attempting to discourage you and I am definitely not attacking you or your ability to make choices in your own life. But if vaping and your COPD has you coughing and non-vaping/non-smoking didn't (plus you felt great).... why not go with optimal? Perhaps I am misunderstanding your post (which is likely, I am easily confused and text is a tricky medium for good understanding of what people are intending to say).

With that said. Yes, adjusting the PG/VG and flavors "might" reduce the chest heaviness and phlegmy cough. But with COPD, I would be concerned that there might not be a mix that is going to feel as good as you said you were feeling when you were just breathing fresh air.

Since U want to continue to vape...Not real familiar with those V2's but I believe they are the mini ecigs that look like a real cigarette...well those batteries die every 2-4 hours and I believe U can only change flavors but not the PG to VG ratio..if that's true, U are better off getting a good EGO starter kit with at least 2 1100a batteries that will last U all day...and U can use various clearomizer tops and change to any flavor and PG/VG ratio blend U want...this happens to be a very good kit sold and only $44 in the USA at a very good reputable dealer DV eGo-T Starter Kit - 1100mah and these have very simple replaceable coils monthly DV CE5 Coil Head - 2 Long Wick - 2.4ohms for about $1.60 a month..and some eliquid from Best E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes | E Cig Juice - MT Baker Vapor for $11 for a 50ml bottle monthly...try using a less PG, like a 50PG/50VG blend...or start with smaller 15ML bottles for $5 and try 50PG/50VG, then buy a couple with 20PG/80VG and 0PG/100 VG and see what works best for U...U may have some reaction to the PG and need 100% VG..but try smaller amounts of PG and see what works best..

If I were you, I try not to inhale the vapor as much as possible; take a drag, keep it in your mouth, and push it out your nose. If I had COPD, I would also try to rid my nicotine addiction as fast as possible, and then wean myself off of vaping for good. Set a date if that helps.

As far as PG, I personally am sensitive to it. I took up vaping three months after quitting cigarettes and now find myself with a dry cough. I vape mostly 0 nicotine so its not nicotine. I like a vendor that is heavy on the PG, but I will be looking for alternatives (VG) after my current stash of e-liquids is depleted.

I have slight COPD. That is what inspired me to look into vaping. To get off the cigs. I can say that I have had a notiseable improvement in breathing function. But it is not the be all to end all. You may have to experiment with your PG/VG ratio. For every opinion you may get you will find one just the other way. For me I find a high PG to give me a phlemy throat. Others will say VG gives them a slimy layer sort of feeling. I find vaping to be much better than smoking. But I find not doing either a viable option.

The reason I vape is an inability to just quit smoking altogether. I had a LOT of nicotine gum or patches during the 3 weeks...got home from vacay...and headed back to the cigs. Vaping seems the least of my evils.
Thank you for not taking offense at my question(s). I was worried that I may have offended and then I would have felt like I had kicked a puppy.

Since you're still in need of self-medicating nicotine, that makes perfect sense. I wish you luck on finding a PG/VG and flavor mix that helps with the nicotine AND doesn't aggravate your condition.

If u are going to smoke or vape then I say vape is by far better. I like you started out with v2 thinking they were great. I quickly knew that was wrong. I now have use a vision spinner 1300 mah. My battery last 2 days! V2 never lasted half a day. As far as vg or pg you may just have to see what works for you because everyone reacts differently to things. Good luck!

First, congratulations for giving up the ciggies, and welcome! :)

It is true that vaping an ecig is a different technique from smoking a cigarette. I agree with Moonswanni that you will probably save yourself some lung irritation by holding the vapor in your mouth and blowing it out through your nose. Another technique that you'd probably like is to get a mouthful of vapor and then blow it out through your mouth and breathe it into your nose like a french inhale on a cig. The key is to not gulp down the vapor into your lungs. I believe most of the nicotine is absorbed through the linings in your mouth, throat and nose anyway, so it is not necessary to get a lung or two filled with the vapor. I'd be willing to bet that you could stick with pg heavy juices that way. Also, be sure to drinks lots of water to hydrate yourself while you're vaping. I'm sure you've read a cajillion times on this forum that hydrating is important, and it is; especially if you have a problem with feeling like your airways are heavy.

Good luck, and I wish you lots of success on your journey to reclaim your life! There are lots of us on here who've been down the same road (but not maybe through the rain forest, you lucky person!), so come back with your questions and experiences!

:D

Congrats on wanting to keep vaping rather than smoking!

It's going to take some trial and error to figure out what, if anything, will work for you. I've seen more people say they're sensitive to PG so playing the odds I'd suggest you do 3 things: get a new ego type unit, order some samples of e-juice that are 100% VG, and read the info on the inhalation technique. If you're lucky, this combination will solve your problems. If it doesn't work, hopefully someone can come up with plan b!

First off I'm not an expert or doctor of any sort. My personal experience is that I have experienced better breathing after quitting the analogs and vaping. Although there is no doubt in my mind that not inhaling clouds of ANYTHING is the healthiest solution.

I started with the blus originally and thought vaping was a joke. They could not last any considerable time so I gave up. A buddy introduced me to the ego twist months later and it was love at first vape! Higher mahs and voltage control made all the difference for me.

Also, found after vaping after month or so I started breaking out all over and itched like a madman. I cut out all pg and now I am itch free. I always encourage new vapers to watch out for reactions to their juice!

I took some of your advice and got an
eGo 650mAh w/ CE4 Clearomizer Blister Pack Starter Kit. I also got juice is PG/VG mix Extra VG 40%. I love the bubble gum flavor. I am wondering how long the clearomizer that came with the kit lasts?
You guys are Da Bomb!!!! I am feeling so much better. Don't have that heavy, short of breath feeling anymore!!!
I have to say that all the tech talk on here is just too much for me so I hope you don't mind my asking what probably sounds like baby questions. I have some organic cognitive problems and when things get too complicated my wires just fizzle.
Can you wash the clearomizer? I just don't have scads of money but don't want to get caught without equipment...I can just see me heading to the store for analogs if that happened.
Did I say thank you yet?...THANK YOU!!!
