Hi folks.

Tomorrow marks 3 weeks using e-cigs with no tobacco. Over the last few days I have had a lot of trouble sleeping. At bedtime I know I'm wired. I don't really toss and turn like restlessness but I just take a long time to fall asleep. I am wide awake.

I used to smoke full flavored Roll Your Own so when I switched to e-cigs I started off at 18 mg. I got a sample bottle of 24 mg when I ordered my juice. I also have DIY stuff to mix my own. In the mornings I like the 24 mg and then go to 18 but it seems more and more I am using the 24 throughout the day because I like it.

This morning I mixed up some 14 mg and am going to use thast for the next couple of days to see if that will improve things.

It's funny ya know.. I had heard that nicotine was a stimulant, but I really didn't experienced it as a stimulant until now. This stuff can work to keep you up as well as strong espresso.

I have insanely annoying insomnia. Last night I slept for about an hour and that's a fairly regular habit. I never get tired and when I finally make myself go to bed I just can't fall asleep. I tried lowering my nic level from 12mg which is what I vape all day every day down to 6mg a few hours before I start trying to fall asleep. Nothing helped at all. Im pretty sure I have real insomnia though and not insomnia from nicotine or caffeine abuse late at night. Ambien worked for me a few weeks ago but I can't take that every night and being on sleeping pills scares me a lot so Im still searching. Trying Melatonin now but I have to take a ridiculous amount before it starts being effective. By ridiculous amount I mean 4-5x what my Dr suggested... Insomnia is awful.

O.k. this is how my day went. 14 mg till about 4 pm than I needed a lil pick me up so I switched to my 24. Stopped the 24 around 8:30 pm went back to the 14. Now it's time to go to bed. I'll post tomorrow when I get a chance and let ya'll know how I slept.. or didn't sleep as the case may be.

Gitmo. I feel for ya.

I have had non drug induced insomnia sometimes for weeks at a time. There were nights I would sleep perhaps 4 hours if I were lucky. I could not account for this with any diet changes, stress, nicotine or alcohol. they say if something if just below your consciousness that is in your head worrying you this can lead to sleep problems, even if you are not aware of something worrying you. They say you subconscious "thinks" about stuff and tries to do problem solving in the background without your knowledge. Who knows.

There were times when I was drinking, I would have to get half drunk to fall asleep. I don't recommend this. I have used benadryl and melatonin before with success. Warm milk can work sometimes. I try to stick to the more natural remedies cus I don't trust any pharmaceuticals.

I know your going through Hell. I hope you find a solution soon and get some relief.

I can't vape nic in the evening at all ! I don't sleep right...tossing, turning, waking up more than the normal age related stuff ! I now have my "after dinner nic" and then go to 0. Go figure...when I smoked, I smoked till I went to sleep !
I hope you all get to sleeping through the night soon, I know it makes you miserable....

I work midnight shift. I make a 12 cup pot of coffee when I get up at night. I used to drink 2 cups then fill a 24oz mug to take to work. I would drink that and get another 20oz cup at lunch time. Now that we can vape at work, I hardly ever finish the coffee I bring from home. I then used to have two cups with my husband in the morning when I got home. Now I don't even finish one cup.
Being able to have the nicotine, is cutting down on my caffeine. I guess I'm sort of trading one addiction for another.

Long time shift worker here as well, at least while I was working. 23 years on a roster that went 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, 4 days off. I think even though I don't work those hours anymore, that long doing them really messed up the sleep ability.

I can get to sleep. My problem is that after 3 or 4 hours I wake up. Wide awake. Gotta love the net...someone, somewhere, is always awake...

Well folks i did get to sleep last night but again it was a few hours after I layed down. I don't think all the high nic from the days before had gotten out of my system yet and my wife was up and down causing me to stir and waken when I started to fall asleep.

I haven't had anything stronger today than 18 mg but I had a really long day doing some rock breaking for the local prison cus their chain gang went on strike.

O.k. actually I was tearing down and rebuilding a fence and gate for my Mum. By myself, all 5 foot 3 140 lbs of me. It was a wooden fence and I had to demo all the boards haul em off, get new ones and rebuild the thing in 93 degree heat.. Took me all day and i'm really wiped out. I think I would sleep tonight no matter what I smoked or drank.

If I still have trouble sleeping after tonight, I'll try some 0 nic after 8 pm at night to see if that helps.

OP you aren't alone. I personally think that it is a result of something other than nicotine. Cigarettes always helped me sleep, but the PV doesn't. I've suffered from moderately bad insomnia since my late teens and have definitely noticed an increase in frequency and severity since quitting cigarettes.
