Before anyone gives me too much grief about it being too fugly, it was my first mod. Thanks for the easy to follow 5v passthrough instructions guys and gals. I think you may have created a monster here...seriously looking at ordering a few VV chips off eBay and doing a few battery mods next. I think someone recently described their mod as a "Poorvari" 
I'd like to build myself one of those.

@ponytailgirl this is true, but it's something I've come to live with the last 10 years or so. At least now I may have something constructive to do with my time by hiding out down at my workbench in the dungeon.
I have a Provari...it's awesome but I wish I had your talent to make my own..PV ..I keep looking at Madvapes box modes that you can build yourself..but I don't think I would be able to figure out how to build one..so your lucky you can

Notice you are using a stock stand, get yourself a good stand and a sponge!!!! Of course I decent to good soldering iron helps. I went with a cheepo one to start with and it was the biggest piece of garbage. Would not get hot at the tip at all, would randomly flare up anywhere along the iron. My first project was ruined because of the flare ups and the solder joints were terrible as the heat was consistently inconsistent. Funny thing is though money does not always indicate quality. I ordered a ten buck sparkfun iron and that thing is amazing. I want to get a second for back up. Exceeds what a ten dollar iron can do!!! Good looking first mod, it does get addicting, and for me has led me to start working on other electronics projects!!!
Oh yeah actually I only use the stock stand for tinning the tip. I find it works easier for getting the solder to stay on there initially. I do have a sponge / Coil setup. I think alot of it depends on how you treat the tip, I'm .... retentive about certain things so I find if I tin it properly to begin with I dont have any issues with my trusty Rat Shack iron. Of course, YMMV. I keep hinting to the wife that Santa should bring me a nice Weller set up or something like it. Thanks for the encouragement.
Oh don't be discourged or intimidated by modding Ponytail girl, just pick a project you think you can tackle and do it. Thats what I did. Soldering isn't that difficult, you just have to take your time and practice. Once you get tinning and making the solder flow it's all downhill from there. But all the info you need is out there.

The madvapes kits are good, there are instructions on their site for how to make and put them together. I would start with one of the basic 7 dollar kits, its as easy as it can get. If you need a basic toolset, I can't say enough about the 20 buck sparkfun starter kit, it comes with a good soldering iron, needle noise pliers, clips, pocket screw driver, desolder tape, solid iron stand with sponge and some solder. Not a bad kit for the money and the solder iron works amazingly well. Pretty much everything you need to put a simple 3.7 box together.
Boredom strikes again. The ever popular altoids mod. Another 5v pass through. I do have a couple LM2596's on order a few boxes and some batteries. Think it's time to build my own VV Battery mod...
Just have to tidy up the epoxy and do some light sanding. Possibly adding a juice feeder of some sort.

chatter, I like your Altoids box mod..I think I'm gonna try...next order from Madvapes I will get a kit and go for it..I have a wood burning kit..it has solder coil in it I haven't used yet..
P.S have you made anything round..that's what I want something that looks like a squeeze gun from back in the day..

You mixed me up with bprineheart's altoid mod!!!! Sounds like that would be a challenge. I would deffinately stick with the 3.7 fro the first one it is a great little kit, a little soldering and pretty much one of the easiest projects you can do. Good practice mod. Also don't worry about the soldering looking rough at first.
That's an awesome idea PTG, I bet a Skoal or Copenhagen snuff or snus can would work well for that. Plenty of room to work with inside as well, and room to store an atty and drip tip.
Also keep in mind these are just simsple pass through mods I'm plugging into a wall wart for 5v vaping. If you do a search for "the puck" that's about the easiest battery based mod I've seen, or just "3.7 box mod" you'll get some ideas for battery based mods. That's next for me too.

Your mod inspired me chatter! I was thinking about things I could do to waste some time and came up with this:
I call it the piggy back lol. Inspired by the puck. I had a few small molex connectors around and decided to try 4 AAAs NiMH. I was gonna use duct tape in the true spirit of DIY but decided to stay classy and used Velcro for the battery pack. So far, so good. Vapes nice and warm. Also like the idea of safer batteries with my little one around the house. Definitely not for lugging around town or anything. But I may use it in the car or for lounging around watching tv. Man I can't wait for my LM2596s to get here.
