I don't mean to speak for AVE in any way, but I have some experience with insurance from USPS.

It has been my experience that you will not be covered if a package with insurance by USPS is seized by the customs service of a foreign (albeit friendly, with great beer and hockey) nation. As far as USPS is concerned, their responsibility stops at the US Border--which is understandable.

Insurance with USPS in the U.S. doesn't really mean anything either. I find that it is more of a ploy to charge extra. I don't know how many times I had insured packages that end up lost or missing in general only to be refused compensation back from the USPS. The last time it took me a lawyer and many complaints to the Postmaster General to be compensated.

I TOTALLY agree i also trade sports cards and had a $1000 autograph card come up missing and it was insured and they wanted to know how I got the value of the card and I had to prove it. It tooks months before I got anything. The fact is you have to prove the worth of the item thats insured. IS it something thats not allowed? If so why would u insure it anyways?
