Hey folks,

I'm obviously a bit of a newbie in this new and wonderful world of ecigs - I always said if i could smoke without the health problems, it wouldn't even be a question for me as to whether i would do it or not. I am disabled with tons of health problems and cancer in my history (Ovarian, not throat or any mouth related type) so i thought it best i quit despite my love of smoking, especially when i write.

I am currently deciding on my first ecig for myself, my brother and my sister in law and i had decided on the 510 until i started to read this thread. I read about half of this thread, then decided i would just ask because it's so long - so if this question has already been asked I apologize in advance.

So, for a new user, what are the differences between the 501 and the Evo, and for those of you "in the know" which would you recomend to some one, both being new to the world of ecigs as well as just the key points of each cig - which do you think is better? I'm very curious to hear your very knowledgable responses, and appreciate tremendously your time and attention.

Igetcha, your YouTube videos are great, and i'm glad there are reviewers out there like you who make the learing curve a bit easier to bear. Dripping, atomizer, carts USB Pullthroughs (I still dont know what that is, though i'm assuming it connects your cig to a usb plug on say, a computer for example) all the terms are still very new to me and i find myself kinda going "ack, what am i spost to get?!" I am one of those people who do a ridiculous amount of research before deciding because, being on disability, i have just very very limited income. I'm suppost to survive on 660 bucks per month, which as you are know is pretty well IMPOSIBLE. So when i choose my first ecig, i want to be happy with it, because its going to cut tremendously into my pocket book and i'll be eating a bit more rice for the following month LOL!

Anyhoot, thanks again for your support and help. I cant tell you how much i love thsi forum. NOT ONLY are all of you incredibly sweet people who are just so willing to help, you are are so knowledgable, and the feeling of the site is one of a big family and i like that a lot. I am trying to create the very same thing on my writing group, that sense of family or whatever. Definately instills trust and more excitement then nervousness about choosing the wrong thing.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Nikki

I ordered from the intellicig uk site on 10/24/09 and have yet to get my order. I know it takes a bit to get to the US but this is getting frustrating. When I track the pkg it just keeps saying it's in the US ready to ship. This was on 11/03/09. Has anyone else from the US ordered from the UK site with this long of a wait? I've ordered from Cignot a couple times already and recv'd my items 2 days later. I want my intellicig!!!

thats weird, I ordered from there 10/29/09 and received it around 11/10/09
it was marked on the customs form as "sample plastics and electronics" my guess is its held up at customs

Talking with John at intellicig, I think that Regular (flavor) was the "cart flavor" attempt.

I only used a few of the prefilled carts (and it has been a while). But the regular is very good IMO.
The carts now contain ECOpure Regular or ECOpure Menthol

I don't understand why alot of people say not to buy from US site..
This site can be trusted (by all accounts)intellicig-USA.com Buy Intellicig EVO Electronic Cigarette by intellicig, The intelligent e-smoking e-cig alternative.

However be warned about sites that have intellicigs or intellicigus these are nothing to do with Intellicig (in fact AFAIK the only official Intellicig site is the UK one (others are just distributors))

I'm sorry but I've got the evo from intellicig and it produces just basic low production even less than an ultra light analog cig, then I got the 510 and it rocks !!!
You must've had a duff EVO then.
I have an EVO attie that is 7 months old It started to tail off when it was about 5-6 months old.
One word of warning do not drop them on the attie as it will kill it

IMHO
a good EVO can perform as good as a titan (510)
Amen Brother!

My other half does use a Titan aswell as his EVO - but that's only in situations where a manual battery is a necessity. (He drives a noisy van and also DJs and the EVO batteries can activate automatically with the vibration, so he uses the manual Titan instead in those situations)
That would be me

I have since binned the 510 Titan as there are now manual batteries compatible with M401 EVOs

My comparison between the 2.

Looks:

510: Bigger than a tobacco cigarette both length & width. Certainly the ones I've seen / used look a bit tatty & toy like not very well made.

Colours, (ones I've seen) White, Black, Gold / Brass, Sliver / Platinum. (all with the exception of the white have black carts, the whites have white carts) Available in 2 battery sizes regular & the new Mega (more of that later)

EVO: The same width as a tobacco cigarette & slightly longer. The EVO does seem to be well built & is a solid looking bit of kit.

Colours, White (Genie or Mighty Atom batteries) (with Brown carts), Black & Silver (Mighty Atom batteries) (both with Black carts)

(there are other colour M401s available from other suppliers)

Build:

As stated above the build quality at least in the brands I've seen is better in the EVO compared to 510s.

Power:

The 510 comes in 2 battery sizes. The smaller one lasts me around 1.5 - 2 hours. The new Mega battery lasts about twice that. My regular batteries started tailing off after a couple of months. I got rid of my 510 stuff before the Mega battery showed any signs of deterioration.

The M401 EVO battery (Genie) Lasts me anything between 3 & 5 hours (on occasion up to 8, but only on days where I'm not vaping as heavily). The smaller M402 (Mighty Atom) lasts me 2 - 3 hours typically. My oldest ones are 6 months old & are now showing signs of tailing off

The Atties, Vapour & Hit:

510s have a larger shrouded atty. All the ones I've seen look as if they've been thrown together. Although they do perform well & give a decent amount of vapour. They also give a good throat hit (initially at least) although they do seem to tail off within a couple of months. Suitable for carts or dripping. They seem to be quite a thirsty atty, consuming a lot of juice per puff.

EVOs have a smaller exposed atty that appears very well made. The vapour & throat hit are only a little less than that of a new 510. However there is little (if any) deterioration for months. while I haven't got any as old as the ones Angela has (I made more errors & destroyed a few more in the early days & a cheapo passthrough took out a couple), my oldest are around 5 months old & showing no signs of giving up. Suitable for carts dripping & dipping.

Carts:

510 carts are of quite a large capacity. However the liquid doesn't seem to wick very well without user modifications to the cart (straw mod etc...) Combined with the fact that the atty is a bit of a thirsty beastie, this meant that I often thought a cart was empty only to find it was still half full when I went to refill it (with the liquid showing no signs of wanting to travel to the business end of the cart)

EVO carts, while smaller have a new design with a bigger capacity than previously. They wick very well & often the only indication you'll get that the cart needs replacing is a slightly burnt taste. By the time this happens the cart is virtually bone dry. As a consequence I've often had Evo carts last longer than my Titans did.

Conclusion:

The 510 is a good & useable e-cig, but the EVO is better.

Hrrm. Thank you very much for that information, Sludge. It looks like i may have to continue with my research. I was planning on making these my big gifts to my brother and sister in law for christmas if i can scrape up the cash, maybe i will purchase one of each type and see which one is better for me. :ponders: Damn, I was kinda excited about having a red 510, and everyone around seemed to like them so much, but if the Evo is that much better then maybe i really aught to do more research on them

I have haerd that the 401 isnt really an EVO, is that true or is it not? And where do you find the 401's? on what website?

Do you guys think the 401 is better then the 510? (using the assumption that they are in fact different models, and not just rebranded Evo.)

Damn, now i'm al confused lol!! :smiles: Okay, well, hopefully i will have a new ecig by the end of the week. It is my plan, and my hope. So we shall see. I am smoking to many analogs because i have been writing so much the last couple of weeks, and when i am doing ccreative things i tend to smoke like a little chiminy, which isn't very good for me. At least i found a pack of Clove Ciggarettes in my area that cost only 3.29 dollars, which is unheard of in this area, all the smokes are like 6-9 bucks a pack here. I live in WA. So, these cheep cigs while not the worlds best clove are certainly better then spending all my money on the Analogs that are my favorite type.

Welp. Any other advice, info, reviews, personal experiences from people concerning the EVI, 510 and the 401 would be appreciated - I am interested in everyones opinions!

Thanks!
Nikki

You've got a little mixed up there.

M401 is a model type, the EVO is a brand of M401 available from the site I linked to in my last post also Innovapor & Cignot. There are other brands of M401 such as the Dragon from TrueSmoker. (although they are made for several companies in different factories) General concensus is the EVO is one of the best (if not the best M401)

Have a look around the M401 section of this forum http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/m-401-402-mini-m403-super-mini/ for more info on M401/2/3

Do you guys think the 401 is better then the 510?
Yes I do

Sludge, I'm looking at the site you suggested but i dont see any numbers on them, and i thought you'd mentioned there were color choices for the m401? (my sister in law is a 21 year old girl who sometimes is very girlie and frankly the Evo is ugly i doubt she'd use it regularly. No matter how good it worked. Though i guess we could put stickers and stuff on em. I dunno. Thats probably a good idea, add some neat designs to them using those removable tattoos or stickers to raise the "cool" factor. She's just young, you know?) Anyhow, she really wants something blue cause its her favorite color.

Did i misunderstand you when you said the m401 had color choices? I must have, anyhow, if there IS a place to get color choices would you send me the link to them? Thanks so much :)

Be well,

I have both and they are both good.

I bought my EVO intellicig from the UK and I bought a titan 510 from Totallywicked in the USA.

They are different see the above posts, I gave my wife my evo and I use the 510 with a mega manual battery.

She likes the straight forward use and that the evo batteries last, and it smokes like an analog and looks like an analog. She has a government job and likes that she doesn't get second glances from the uninformed when she's smoking outside with the others.

I like the 510, it's more gadgety and you can play with it to get your best usage. Either one would be a good starting choice. I think people say that the carts on the 510 with a manual battery go through more juice because they take longer drags on it than you would with the EVO (5 second cutoff) thus use more juice per drag, and they burn a little hotter. Just my opinion.

Good luck

Be well,
Yes & no. The EVO from Intellicig has colour choices (BUT those choices are limited to battery size, as in the white & brown cigarette look alike version is a M401, & the silver & black versions are M402 (fully compatible with the 401, just a fraction smaller))

There are different colour options on the Dragon / Phoenix M401s from TrueSmoker ECIG - TrueSmoker: M401 Dragon (although they are either black or white with added colour detail, rather than solid colour throughout).

I fail to see how you can say the EVO is ugly? The bog standard ones look just like a cigarette & the silver & black versions are very classy

White Intellicig
Black Intellicig
Silver Intellicig

Some of the chinese suppliers do offer other colour options (for example E-liquid Web Shop CN ), although I have no idea if you could get them from any suppliers in the US

If your SIL is really that "girly" I would suggest she looks at the Phoenix (as mentioned above) TS have their own section of this froum too TrueSmoker - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

I would just like to add a couple of things to this thread at this point:

1. IMO, the EVO is better than other models or brands of M401/M402 that I have tried (although I would mention that I obviously haven't tried all of them, and so cannot comment on brands such as the Dragon/Pheonix). It is more robust and reliable with a better finish (...and just works for months on end!)

2. If you think the EVO is ugly, I strongly suggest you stay away from the 510! (You may be able to get some colourful models of the 510 from some vendors, but that's it's only advantage in the 'looks' department IMHO)

Its most likely stuck in customs, thats usually what happens when it takes awhile to get an item. I have had stuff sit in customs for about a week before it started coming my way.

Hope you get it soon tho! You will love the EVO!:thumb:

Evos are my favourite e-cig for using in public (outside work, outside the pub etc). I find them to be the best match of analog look along with good performance (long battery life and strong taste).

They're not the ultimate analog look-a-like, that would be the smaller DSE-084, but the 084 is more susceptible to wind/noise battery activation and has a much shorter battery life. The Evo still passes very well for analog size.

The only downside could be the 2 minute cut-off which can happen if you overfill the carts and flood the atomiser and/or take too long a draw. With care this can be avoided, but I always carry 2 just in case this happens. On the plus side this means I always have a spare battery, atomiser and cart at hand.

They very rarely attract unwanted attention unless you want them to (i.e. use a blue LED), and have a high quality feel. I've managed to stockpile 8 of them, but I'm still using the first 3 in rotation without any failures after 2 months.
