Intellicig EVOlution Review

Well, it's longer and slimmer than the original Intellicig (of which I am a great fan). For me this is a small problem - when I hold it it feels a big too elegant somehow (but then I was a pipesmoker). More of a Superking than a King-size, perhaps. I didn't have to wait to try it as the battery came fully charged - which is great when you're an impatient chap like me. With quite heavy usage I found the battery to last about 8 hours without "fading". It then flashed like mad asking for a charge. This is an improvement on the originals, where the batteries seemed to fade more.

The biggest change that I noticed was in the atomiser. The arched piece is much wider than in the original, almost the width of the cart.. This wider surface area results in much more vapour with a smaller draw, which is great. However, here's where another problem for me arises. These atomisers are NOISY. They fizz like mad, especially when a topped-up cart is used. The mouth seems to act as an echo-chamber for this "fizz", and I find that all a bit disconcerting.

In short - the pros: longer battery life, more vapour. The cons: "elegance" and "fizziness". Being thinner than the Originals none of that gear works with the Evolution. I vaped the very tasty menthol no nic carts - this way I could give it a proper work-out without overdoing the nicotine.

For me I prefer the originals as the draw is "tighter" and you work for your vapour a little more, which I enjoy.

have they stopped selling the old model now expipe?

the thing i dont think i could live with is the 2 minute cutoff after a 5 second drag...rather excessive i think...it might be useful for noobs,but i couldnt be bothered with that...

They're still selling the old one (good!) together with all carts, accessories etc..

Tried forcing the cut-off - a 5-second drag is one heck of a long time when you time it! It didn't cut off - but I was barely drawing by the end of the 5 secs.

That's exactly how the M-401 does it too. Can you see inside the heating pot? If so, is the heating coil packed in steel wool, or bare?

Just had a look with a magnifying glass. You can see inside the pot (just) and the coil appears to be bare.

The Intellicig web site says this about the atomiser:

"We have carefully remodelled the vapouriser to truly replicate the effect of smoking by means of a tapered heat chamber and increased element absorption area."

and this about the battery:

"a high powered lithium battery that maintains output across the maximum range. It features an upgraded pressure switch and a microprocessor that has been programmed to our exacting specifications in order to optimise both performance and safety."

Is that the same as the m401 in your experience, Leaford? I'm not a techy (and haven't tried a 401) so can't comment one way or the other.

Not the battery, no. The 401 doesn't have a 2 minute cutoff, for one thing.

But the wider arch and bare coil on the atomizer are what I was referring to. Same baisc design features, not the same model, though.
