someone left this comment on one of my video reviews , i can't find anything to prove him wrong... but i also cant find anything to prove him correct either..

he said.

"I would strongly recommend staying away from any sweet tasting products because they would signal the brain to release glucose into the blood stream just like regular tobacco. High glucose in the blood is a path to faster old age and even diabetes. Good video nonetheless."

anyone have any ideas , i know that Tobacco does not trigger the brain to release glucose into the blood stream , rather it triggers the brain to release dopamine

so according to this guy , vaping on sweet flavored liquids like watermelon or chocolate will make us all diabetics ?

No, I think that's gobbledegook. PG & VG are low carb additives. VG is a little more than 1/2 the sweetness of sucrose. 1 tsp of VG has about 27 cal. and 1 tsp = almost 5 ml. (I looked into this already because I have blood sugar issues). I would guess that PG probably is even less.

High doses of sugar will cause problems, but the tiny amts in PG & VG @1-3ml day of ejuice will not.

I have had other problems with PG/VG, but I did not have any changes in blood sugar.

Besides that, analogs have PG & glycerin in them anyway.

and from what i understand... just a little back-asswards. when blood sugar levels are LOW your brain triggers a release of hormones that in turn trigger a rise in glucose levels.

I'm a diabetic. When I get some time I'll do a series of blood sugars before and after vaping.

I rather doubt it will have any impact, but it's worth a finger in the air test.

yeah , that would be awesome actually. You might be able to give me some ammo to shoot this guy down

I'm glad you are willing to take the stick test to find out. I went out and purchased a meter and noticed that after I vape my levels will go up past 150. My morning levels before I use any juice is around 85-90. So yes I can see what the poster is saying but I'm not a doctor. However I did stay at the Holiday in last week. :D

I think we all need to realize that there is no real data on E Cigs so saying that this is harmless is a bunch of BS. Nicotine itself is not the best thing for you let alone the other stuff in the juice. There is just not enough data yet to support for it or against it.

People should never assume that e-cigs are harmless. It seems logical that they are a safer alternative to cigarettes but that has yet to be proven in the long run.:nun:

What was the video and is it possibly that avoiding sweet flavors is better for all of us but especially diabetics?

Have you noticed if you had the same results with stick tests previously with analogs?

Does it make a difference with your levels if you vap with something that is not a sweet flavor?

Disclaimer: Not asking anyone to be a lab rat. Just wondering if anyone as noticed.

I'm willing to become a lab rat and measure my levels on video for a day or two. However it won't be that scientific since you would need long term studies. I will also spend a day off the vape and see me levels there as well. The only problem with is that I will have to go back to smoking analogs for the experiment.

No, sorry but you will have to go cold turkey. :D

Honestly I am pre diabetic so I would be interested but aren't there sugars in analogs?. So don't go back to them.
Better for you to invest in zero flavor or nonsweet flavors. Hmmm..coffees and damn..what else?
To be honest my tastebuds are so dead I would make the perfect lab rat. I was so disappointed when my clove came in and I could not taste a thing. The grape and the redbull very little. Tho the 36mg is pretty sweet. I would hate to be screwing up my system with a flavor I barely taste.

As if we don't have enough to worry about already. Geesh. I do remember the thread. Don't remember it being in a video. I kind of wondered about it, but after smoking analogs for 36 years it's all mute now anyway. LOL Seriously though, someone should just ask an endrinconologist (sp?). One person sacrificing ecigs and bloody fingers does not constitute an accurate answer.

No! No analogs...Can't we have you try flavorless or coffee flavors first? Wouldn't just tobacco flavors work as well? What other flavors than coffee exist that are not sugar related?
I just saw this on http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...g/12317-how-valid-vaping-health-claims-8.html
a post from HappyGirl "One other point on the glycol....what about diabetics....could this throw off their sugar readings if the body is burning this as sugar?"
I don't know what she is talking about but it caught my eye. The basic search I did only showed a problem with ethylene glycol which is PEG?

A bit off topic but since I found it it my search...

How does Cinnamon Affect Blood Sugar Levels?
Recent news articles talk about the benefits of cinnamon for diabetics and people with blood sugar imbalances. Although it may not help all people, just a ¼ teaspoon twice per day can make a difference for many. In a 2003 study, the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that taking 1 gram (less than ½ teaspoon) of cinnamon over 40 days reduced cholesterol levels by 12–26%, triglyceride levels by 23–30%, and blood sugar levels by 18–29%. When the research subjects took more than 1 gram they did not see any added improvement, and the good results were maintained for at least 20 days after the study ended.

okay...my earlier post was delayed in showing so I did this one but I did find out new stuff so it is all good.

If anything, I would think the brain would trigger the release of insulin and possibly digestive acids/enzymes in response to the taste. :)

As far as I know, and I only know from reading Capellas site and LorAnns, but to my knowledge they are sweetener free flavorings...If they contained sugar, wouldnt the sugar carmalize, smell awful and leave a very quickly noticeable sludge in our attys? Glycol, glycerin, vg, however is a natural sweetener (hence-used in candy making bc it "carries" the flavor)but its steamed, so to say, not burned so I imagine (and Im NO scientist, lol) it wouldnt be enuff converted in a sugar content that would even trace if it were tested. BUT- thats just what I think.....It will be interesting to see this theory tested-I believe theres only like 1 or 2 calories in ingestable vg per ml, and if ingested, no heating process so none is lost in the vapor, inhaled or exhaled, nor diluted with flavor/water, completely absorbed into the body, that it would still only tack on a few extra calories a day....Hmm....something for a diabetic to monitor for us if they use VG and see if they see any changes in their blood, .......

Unless the comment came from an MD or Ph.D, I would ignore it. Cliff Clavens are everywhere and know everything. ;)

This is all nonsensical nonsense! Everyone knows if you vape something sweet you will simply be popping pimples like a schoolboy for teh redt of ur lives!!!

On a serious note however, I do not have diabetes so I cannot say anything about BS levels... well Blood Sugar levels anyway. I do know that after 2 years and counting I have had no negative effects I can find, and several positive ones.

Take care all!!
