Was in my local vape shop today picking up some juice, have not gotten a chance to order all my DIY stuff yet. So I mentioned that I was planning on making my own juice soon and was rather surprised when the girl that I have hung out and gotten a lot of tips on building coils and what not kind of went off the handle. She started lecturing me on how she has an associates degree in chemistry and if you make your juice in anything other than a clean room all of the particles in the air will get into your juice and inhaling it could be extremely dangerous, and a host of other issues. Now I can understand a customer making their own juice loses income for them but I was rather amused by her reasoning. The particles in the air (that you are breathing while making your liquid) are going to get in the juice and destroy your lungs. So question would be, do any of the however many DIY juice people on here actually make their juice in a clean room, or ever worry about this? Or am I about on track with the, they don't want to lose juice sales thoughts?

Sounds like she is worried about losing a customer to me, and rightly so. Cleanroom? Ask her what type of respirator she uses to prevent exhaling contaminants.
But you don't need one. If you are going to sell e liquid, you might need to be a step above the unwashed masses, but... for your own use... nah
Logical for someone that sells commercially, but if this was entirely true, they'de have to suggest only vaping in a clean room as well. Where do they think the air that carries the vapor when you inhale comes from? My friend mixes his in the bathroom, bet it's still safer than smoking.
Perhaps you could ask if they could possibly show you their clean room. I do know one vendor who sells a line of liquids made in the lab and they market it as such.
Fun part was I also mentioned just needing a couple more pieces of equipment in the garage to take a shot at making my own mechanical mod. She proceeded to go on about her friend that was a machinist and he couldn't even make the little parts and firing buttons. When I mentioned that there are hundreds of sights that sell the firing pin assemblies so I wouldn't have to mess around with that part if it was so difficult she just rolled her eyes. Kinda a bummer though because up until today I have great experiences in there and do try to buy local for a lot of my stuff but I really think I will be looking someplace else from now on.
On a lighter note, during culinary school I had issues with conversions so I did what any logical adult (or crazy man) would and got a conversion chart tattooed on my forearm. Which has actually gotten a ton of use by myself and everyone in my kitchens. Since looking into this stuff I wish I had extended it to include standard to metric conversions lol
All of the BS aside big thanks to all the contributors on this forum. I was very overwhelmed when I started looking into DIY juice and mods but since finding this place I am sure I will be vaping some awesome DIY juice with some crazy self made mod in no time. Not only is there crazy amounts of information but some of you have condensed it into some amazingly well laid out formats that will probably save me a fortune that likely would have been spent on garbage.
Now I feel slighted. My local vape shop mixes them up at a little bench right there behind the counter. The nerve of not having a sterile room!
Seriously she went on a rant because you wont buy liquid from them anymore and thats their bread and butter. 30 cents for materials to mix you a 30 ml bottle they sell you for @ $15 or more. Pure profits for them. Then you talk to other local vapers and they also start mixing because hey, you do so why not and more people who wont buy from them. It will be vaping anarchy! The more people who mix their own the less a store earns so of course they will be against it.
The guys at my local vape shop are great but I dont tell them the mods they sell for $50 I can get on ebay for $20 nor do I tell them I started making my own. I get what I went there for and shoot the bull with them and then go along my merry way.
I honestly couldn't tell you which ones I have or have not read through. If you could throw up a link for it would definitely be more than happy to either read or reread it.

It is one of the least noticeable features of this forum, since the links are so small, but several frequent contributors here have their own blogs where they share what they consider valuable info that they do not want to type over and over again. Most of the ones I have seen are well worth reading, and now that I have noticed it, I will check out Paul's.
