When I left Central Florida for Central Texas 17 years ago I had no idea that I was giving up my warm sunny winter weather. They look fairly close to the same distance south on the map, but I woke up to 29 degrees this morning... I think it froze one time in the 4 years I lived in Florida... I *hate* freezing!

I'm with you I can't stand the cold. That's one thing I do not miss among many, coming from the North East

You and me both, pops. I grew up in Iowa and went to college in South Dakota... when I was 20 I packed everything I owned in the back of my Honda CRX and ran away to Florida - because it stayed red or orange on the weather map all year round. Left all my family and friends, ditched a full tuition scholarship, didn't care, just didn't ever want to deal with snow and ice again. If Texas is too cold for me in the winter, then you can imagine how much I enjoyed those first 20 years... In the past 20 years, I've traveled north in the winter exactly 3 times - twice for funerals, and the one trip we took for "pleasure" in the winter resulted in a blown radiator that we limped 1100 miles back home to deal with, rather than stay in the snow for another 2 days. It will be back in the 70's here in a few days also, but I'll whine until it gets there!

Only getting high 40's/low 50's here in the DFW area for the next 5 days... if the sun's out though, I'm cool with that. I love a warm sun on my face with a cool breeze. :)
