I am now in the US and I am going back to the Philippines for about a year.

I have a couple of VW box mods and a mech. tube mod along with 3 or 4 various atomizers. I also have a bunch of 18650 and 18500 batteries along with a couple of those skinny EGO style Twist batteries.

Since I make my own juice, I have some large bottles of VG and some 60mg Nic unflavored PG base, along with some bottles of flavorings.

I am thinking that everything I have goes into the checked bags except for the batteries which go in carry-on luggage ... does this sound right to you?

One thing else ... If I have a small EGO Twist battery with a small Kanger Aerotank Mini on top of it (for vaping at the airport once I get into Hong Kong), do you think I would have any problem with airport security if I put that in the TSA tray along with my other carry-on junk that's in my pocket before going though the metal detector? ... The Aerotank Mini in my pocket would have a little juice in it.

Thanks,

I carry a full tank on top of a mod with an internal battery. I just put it in the tray so they can visually see it. Everything else goes in my checked bag. The batteries, they don't want in the passenger cabin. I can just imagine their reaction to seeing large bottles of liguid, coil wire, and batteries in your carry-on.

Sorry, I missed the post just before this.

Anyway, I just carry one system with an internal battery for airport vaping. You can probably carry a small bottle of juice. I have done it. I put it in with my toiletries so it isn't as noticeable.

Well, I have 4 or 5 extra 18560 and 3 or 4 of the 18500 batteries (in plastic zip-lock bags)) ... I would rather put them in my checked baggage, but I heard the airlines are now so paranoid about batteries that they don't want them in the cargo hold of the aircraft ... so I though they had to be in your carry-on bag.

But, maybe I am wrong.

Put them in your checked bag and they will most likely not be there when you land... Yes, put them in battery boxes and in the bin for the x-ray machine, along with whatever mods you are taking. Liquids go in the quart ziplock bag, as well as filled tanks. I also tell them I have vape gear as I go through...

Keep batteries and equipment with you, or in carry-on baggage - not in your checked baggage! In the cabin, flight crew can better monitor conditions, and have access to the batteries or device if a fire does occur.

Wrong. The batteries must be in the passenger cabin, where they are far easier to extinguish should they catch fire than if they were in the hold.

Large quantities of liquids (anything more than the 3-1-1 Liquids Rule] in checked baggage.

Everything else is at the passenger's discretion.

Should not be a problem. Vaping has gotten popular enough that the TSA and even foreign security screeners know what this stuff is.

Pro-tip: Keeping the Aerotank upside down during pressure changes will minimize the chance of it flooding and leaking.

From TSA:

As of January 1, 2008, the Department of Transportation (DOT) through the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) no longer allows loose lithium batteries in checked baggage.

The link has been posted but here it is again Safe Travel with Batteries and Devices | Transportation Security Administration

I have to have read something wrong, you were planning to carry the extra batteries in a baggie?

I was going to put a piece of electrical tape over the positive post on each battery. Then put each battery in a separate plastic zip-lock bag. Then put those packages of batteries in my carry-on bag.

Everything else related to vaping (including juice, attys, box mods with no batteries, big bottles of VG and Nic PG) goes in one of my checked bags.

Okay, I thought you knew better than to just toss them in a bag, lol. You might draw less attention though is you got plastic battery boxes for them. I've only flown domestically since starting vaping but have been floored at how much TSA knows about vape gear. Have a great flight flight and year back in the Philippians!

You never put anything in checked baggage that you cannot afford to lose - cough cough - have stolen by baggage handlers.

The 3-1-1 rule still applies to liquids in checked baggage. Just because you put large bottles in checked baggage doesn't mean they are allowed.

Batteries need to be secured in devices or suitable plastic storage boxes. Don't do a hack job, just buy some boxes.
