Intro and help request GLV2

Hello everyone, my name is Cody. I just joined today after searching around for some advice. Recently I've gotten into the bigger mods and ditched the Blu's, Tececigs, V2cigs etc. I currently own a Provari and GLV2.

Either the Google isn't strong with me today or I'm having a rare issue, so I figured I would ask for advice on here and see what I can find. The GLV2 (5v) I have was purchased about two-three years ago by my brother if that helps at all. I'm using the recommended batteries which I ordered from GLV. I think my mod is running too hot and my resistor might be having issues. At first I tried a standard 3 ohm Provape carto which I drip-filled with about 25 drops of Johnson Creek Red Oak Tennessee Cured, let sit for about an hour and then topped it off. I tested it on my Provari and had no issues. I put it on my GLV2 and first puff burned the filler (or at least that's how it tasted). I figured maybe I didn't fill it well enough so this time I took another standard resistance carto and condom-filled it. I tested it with the Provari and again no issues. Then, within about 3-4 hits with the GLV2 it burned the filler again. After this I figured okay maybe the juice I'm using is too thick and wasn't making it all the way into the filler so I thinned it out with some local-made PG dominant juice and condom filled another carto. Same thing happened. I also tried an iClear 30s Dual Coil tank as well as a Kangertech Aero Tank with several different juices. The tanks worked better for me, but I still got a burnt taste after about 3 hits.

you will need to get a friend to help you.. the red probe goes on the center pin the black probe goes on the threads.. once you have the probes touching get a friend to push the power button.
some safety precautions: do not push the button before connecting the probes... do not touch the probes together well your friend is pushing the power button... Very bad things could happen.

Okay, so I tried to test my voltage and I'm either doing it wrong or my multimeter is in dire need of calibration. At first when I tested I was getting 10.5 volts which unless I'm misunderstanding how this works should be impossible since I'm stacking two 3.7 volt batteries. I did eventually get a more realistic reading that said it was jumping way up to 7 initially and then back down to around 4.8 or 5. As far as I can tell I can't really test the resistor without pulling the head cap apart because the ends of the resistor where it's soldered are covered in some kind of green epoxy or something so there is no exposed metal I can get to on it. I have a built-in tester on the Provari that will tell me the resistance of the carto or tank I'm using. All I've tested are within specs.

jumping way up to 7 initially and then back down to around 4.8 or 5

that does sound about right. it should start high and drop the longer you hold the power button.

0_o if you can randomly get it to put out 10 volts i would send it back.

you should be able to check the resistance of the resistor by using one probe on the bottom of the cap where the battery makes contact, and the other probe on the center pin.
beyond that i dont know enough about the workings of a GLV2 to be of much help.

I'm not sure what's going on with this thing. It's doing okay with the tank, but it still concerns me and is still burning my juice a little. I did take a carto apart and found that it had burned the material wrapped around the heat element. I tried calling GLV last week but the two people that could help me weren't in the office so the person took my number down but I never got a call back. I called again a couple days later and was placed on hold for about half an hour before I couldn't wait on the phone any longer so I hung up. I tried emailing as well and I'm just not getting any response from them. I'm a little irritated at this point. I really like the GLV2 when it's working correctly and am trying to be patient since I know it's only two people doing everything, but I'm to the point that I'm considering selling it.

I think I've finally gotten this thing figured out through a long process of trial and error. I found that my issue was two-fold. The first problem was that the cartos I was using were junk. I found this out by using one exclusively on my provari and found that it also burned up, only after around 6 puffs rather than 2 or 3. Then, I found that the thinner liquid I switched to was an RY4 that tasted burnt no matter what. After all this I dumped that juice and the junk cartos, cleaned out my iClear and was happily vaping again.

The only problem I'm running into now is that due to the combination of having to use a 510 extender in order to use my tank and it having to be slightly loose in order to line up the air holes correctly, my threads have gotten all chewed up on the head cap. So I'm probably going to have to order a head cap eventually unless anyone knows of another place to source the threaded piece that goes into it. If you do please let me know as I'd rather not deal with GLV again. The issue wasn't their fault and the product is pretty good, but they lost a customer due to their poor customer service.

I have yet to ever get a return phone call or email from them on this whole ordeal. Their customer service has been very subpar IME between this and just trying to get a confirmation or ETA on the batteries that I ordered being like pulling teeth. The batteries took about a month to get to me. I never got a confirmation email, they failed to inform me that the batteries were out of stock (their website didn't reflect this either and allowed me to order them). Only after about two weeks or so of trying to figure out what was going on did they finally tell me. There was no attempt to make up for any of it.
