Hi all,

Just a short hello from a new member and someone giving serious consideration to vaping as an alternative to smoking. Recently my girlfriend was interested in the idea so we purchased the DSE 901 as a starter kit, having so-so results with it ... the good thing about this product is that it taught us a lot about vaping and what we want and don't want, even after just a few days with it.

Now she is looking at going the cartomizer route with probably the Riva ... depending on the results she gets with that will determine what I will try for my own personal use. For her flavour is more important than TH or vapour, whereas for me I would prefer TH and vapour.

A couple of tips I would give to newbies to the world of vaping ... sure do some research but don't get too bogged down with details... it can be quite daunting and intimidating. Just take the plunge and start your vaping experience - it is unlikely you will get the product that is right for you with your first purchase, and until you start you probably won't realise what is important for you. So try it, don't get too disappointed or disheartened if your first experience doesn't live up to your expectations, experiment a little to find out what works for you.

I totally agree with Rimp.....If you buy those crappy ones and pay too much, human nature usually dicates that all ecigs are crap and too expensive......And WE KNOW better......cause look at us... Don't want to give anyone a bad experience from a mall kiosk and turn them off of ecigs forever.....

My first ecig was cheap and didn't work right. It was an automatic model, so I highly recommend against those. My next try was with the 510 due to the similarity to the look and feel of an analog. Now, i've finally settled on an ego passthrough with cartomizers. At ivape.net, you can get this unit for $20, and includes your USB charger/ passthrough. Add a 5-pk of cartomizers for $7 and some eliquid, and you are set to go without breaking the bank. I prefer Ms. T's juice, but the coconut and mint chocolate at ivape are both great for my tastes. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thank you all for the responses :)

One thing I should have mentioned is I'm from the UK xD - so many of the US suppliers are not a practicality for me due to the high shipping costs (I think ... .maybe I should actually check that out).

Also I can't say I have noticed any stalls that actually sell these products over here. Originally we were actually looking for ways to make our own cheaper cigarettes with tobacco and cigarette tubes and just happened to stumble over e-cigs. I had heard of them some years ago but had dismissed them as nothing more than a gimmick and then forgot about them. Just to give you some frame of reference, a pack of 20 cigarettes here cost over £5 ($9) for a cheap brand, so you can understand our initial excitement when we rediscovered them and on investigation realised just how far e-cigs and vaping had progressed as a real alternative to smoking.

But yes, even if they were available in shopping arcades (we don't call them malls :p ), I would echo everyone else's sentiments here and find a supplier on the net for cheaper, better quality products.

Of all the advice that can be given, this is by far the best advice of all.

Welcome Henners. Good advice. I hope people read it before purchasing.

I'd note that I purchased my first e-cig (a smoke 51 trio - 1 battery/charger/carts) for around $30/$40 at a smoke shop (I don't even remember the price now). It was a good intro to e-cigs, got me to go online, and then find ECF.

Not all "go to the mall" trips have to be $150.00, and they can be a good intro. Of course, if I had found ECF 1st, rather than purchasing on a whim (hey...look at that!), I would probably have gone the mail-order 510 route (that was my next purchase). Oh well. Some go at it one way, others another.

I guess the bottom line is... don't sweat it... just learn it. Yeah, kiosks are expensive. If you went that route... NO GUILT! Now you know better.... dig in and research.

Right on the money:vapor: My comment was to the op. I would warn everyone to NOT buy ANYTHING from a mall kiosk. It's usually crappy and WAY overpriced.
RIMP:evil:

Yes they are over priced but not necessarily crappy. I find the Smoking Everywhere automatic batteries to be outstanding. They are built like tanks and the automatic switch is fast.

At the end of the day they did get me off of cigarettes. I'd say it was worth the outrageous price I paid.
