I have yet to make a purchase and am narrowing my option down with so many companies out there to choose from. I have read through all the different forums but much info is out dated. Here is some questions I have.

As a newbie, I have decided I want prefilled cartomizers. I don't want to have to mess with the liquids and after much research I don't want a separate atomizer. I want it built into the cartridge...hence cartomizer. Perhaps later I will switch to this eliguid and atomizer stuff if I see a need for it. I'm not on a tight budget, it's more important that I stop smoking the real cigaraettes.

BLU ECIGS: Anyone have current updated experiences with this company and their product. I understand post January they had only atomizers but now they have cartomizers. I've heard both good and not so good experiences but all I have read has been in the 2009/2010 year. What about experiences in the 2011 year as well as peeps that have been using BLU for a length of time.

From what I can tell it almost sounds like BLU is a good newbie starter but once you get the hang of vaping and have more experience and understanding people move on to more complicated devices that are interchangable, have multiple flavor options and even this 5V power hitting stuff.

So all this being said, how is BLU ecig in the here and now world of 2011 as to the 2009/2010 world we no longer live in!

I'd appreciate any input. Will be purchasing this weekend for both me and my hubby!

thank you in advance. :)

Hey Trac, I know you're asking about Blu, which I know nothing about..But I wondered if you'd looked at V4L ? They seem to have the largest variety of prefilled cartomizers I've found anywhere...and they have good prices too.
Just thought I'd toss my 2 cents out there! There is a large Vapor4Life subforum here that is up to date & busy...Best of Luck to you!!

Blu cigs are not any better thought of around here now than they were last year and the year before. They are sub-standard and high priced. If you want a cartomizer system, look at the KR808 from Vapor 4 Life. Yes, people did start with Blu, then they did move on....but it was because they didn't know any better. I'd suggest you watch the videos made by MistressNomad about Vaping for Newbies. They are stickied at the beginning of this new members forum. They are very helpful. The KR808 she talks about is what technovapir and I are recommending.....

Welcome Tracj007!

I just wanted to say hi...I don't have much experience with cartos or BLU but I bet someone who does will come along soon to help you out. There's lots of great vendors and people here to help.

Great. They work.

BLU ECIGS: Anyone have current updated experiences with this company and their product.

Lots of luck here. Seriously I got mine late January and I got atomizers. In fact I "think" I got two different batteries since my Envy atomizer only works with one battery. My biggest complaint was I found I had to top of the fluid to make them work, and to be fair this should be resolved with the cartos. The other issue is vapor production, which "can" be resolved to some degree with lower ohm coils, like found in cartos.

The other complain is their pack remains unchanged despite the fact that others in the series have had updates, like a battery meter, and even newer a straight minusb connection. And I find I like having fewer cables in my car.

Still, if I had to buy a kit today, it would be a 510, maybe a kr801. But not to worry, even though I upgraded to the eGo style T-rex, in a pinch I can pop that atomizer on my Blu battery.

Hi Tracj007!

I used a Blu with cartomizers 3 weeks ago for a week. A friend of mine had started using the Blu and he liked it, so I had him order me one when he was ordering new cartos. I wasn't impressed so I did a little research and ordered something else, I ordered the Smokestik "Pitbull". I absolutely love it, However, I would not really recommend it to very many people because I believe it is a fairly "niche" device. It has a high quality feel and look, high quality, non-burning cartomizers, and high quality vacuum activated batteries. However, it is pricy and has similar drawbacks to other "minis" . I get about 3+ hours per battery of heavy use. For me, I just bought some extra batteries and chargers and honestly I have a drawer full of rechargeable lithium ion batteries and the ability to build a "MOD" with parts I have lying around the house. :)

Getting back to the Blu. My friend likes his, BUT he has never used anything else. What is wrong with the Blu, you ask? well:

  • With heavy use I could drain a battery in about 30 min. They could last a little longer with light use. (I can say from experience that kind of current drain will cause the battery to have a short life);
  • I felt 0 TH, I did not feel the vapor in my body at all. Although, there was good vapor production(more about that below) it felt more like inhaling the steam off a cup off coffee or soup. You get the taste see the vapor but feel nothing. Maybe because the cartomizers at 100% VG;
  • While it can produce a good amount of vapor, I found it very inconsistent. The "draw" on the cartomizers felt hard. Like trying to suck a really thick milk shake through a straw.
  • Burnt taste. Horrible burnt taste from the cartomizers, at times even before they should have been empty. Now, burnt taste is a sign your carto is spent, however, either they were running out of juice way sooner than they should have or something was burning simply because of poor wicking or design.
  • Terrible, inconsistent auto shuttoff. Auto batteries have a shutoff, most likely to prevent excessive current drain which would damage the battery. I believe the Blu is supposed to have a 8 sec shuttoff. My batteries(and my friends) had about a 2 sec shuttoff this did seem to improve to 5 seconds intermittently after a while. You start to draw and you could feel the battery stop and then start again - very annoying. or comparison, I cannot reach the shuttoff when drawing on my Smokestik batteries.
  • And the shipping takes too long!

On a positive note, the taste isn't bad, the fake pack personally charging case is kinda cool, the cartos are re-fillable although a little too small. Also, the size is exactly the size of a king size cigarette while the 4081, 501, kr808-d1 are cigarette like but slightly bigger.

You probably can tell I don't like the Blu much. :) I thought I would still use it a little, I still had cartos to use up, but I just don't want to.

Anyway, hope this helps. If you have any more questions I would be happy to answer.

Others more experienced then me will give you a ton of helpful advice - there are some wonderful people here! From everything I have read though I think the consensus is if it has to be cigarette like look at 501 and kr808-d1; if you don't mind something a litle bigger and want better performance and battery life loo for the 510 Evo or the Riva type devices.

Good Luck! You are gonna love vaping!

Thank you everyone for your responses.

I just looked at the recommended sight of V4L and no, I hadn't gone to that sight. Oh my, what an option! That site was enough to peek my interest of buying through them instead. They have a lot of flavor option, so many it's a bite overwhelming actually. There refill kits carts are cheaper than anywhere I've been looking and again, the assortment to choose from...wow!
They also have a charging case like BLU does, different look and style but a on the go charging case nonetheless. That's important for my husband because he is stuck in traffic for many hours everyday, also when he smokes the most too! The initial start up cost is slightly more than BLU but given the huge flavor selection and cheaper cart costs, it all evens out in the end. Besides, cost isn't as concerning as getting us off regular cigarettes.

Still trying to compute the lingo being used in what people are saying in their responses so forgive some rather dump questions but at this point I need to ask...

4081, 501, kr808-d1- I need a bite more info when saying this. Not as experienced as you guys are here.
TH- Throat hit?
MOD- okay...I got a lot of meanings on this one, however I don't think any apply to it's use here! lol!

Again, lots of good info, I do believe I have just been talked out of the BLU and back to the drawing board! If nothing else, V4L would be a better option.

Anymore suggestions would be appreciated. I'm making the final choice and purchase on Saturday. I'll be on here and researching this evening.

Thanx everyone. I'll check out the forum threads on V4L.

Trac, 4081, 510, kr808 are model numbers. V4L sells the KR808 model, many other companies sell 510 (regular, Ego, Riva etcc).
The attys & cartos are not interchangable between them without a little converter piece. But you don't need to worry about that now.
V4L has lots of sales, so be sure to go to the site & sign up to be on the mailing list! You won't be disappointed in my opinion. Their customer service is top notch.

Mod means better batteries, better throat hit (warmer vapor - more like the real thing), better overall performance. Most definitely get manual batteries NOT auto batteries.

I would suggest for a new person either the eGo or Riva 510 or the VGO 801. Here are two reputable sites that sell them:

Electronic Cigarette Kits, Eliquid by Awesome Vapor

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

Stay clear of Blu unless you like frustration.

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

If you do order from V4L, you might try this site and the coupon codes listed for a discount. My son found one on here when he purchased his kit that got him 33% off.

vapor4life.com Coupon Codes (11 available) - Tjoos

It's worth a try! Good luck on your search.

Just sign up for their newsletter and/or watch the V4L forum here. They're not stingy with their sales nor do they try to hide them.
