Hi everyone. I typed out this big long intro earlier today, clicked post, and was taken to the you are not logged in page. I almost cried lol. I didn't have time to retype it then, ( I KNOW better than to hit post without copying!) so I am going to try again now, but you may be saved some of the details. ;)

So... I have been smoking 1 ppd for 24 years. My, how time does fly! I have, like everyone else, made countless attempts to quit with every gimmick- uh, I mean assistance program- known to man. Well, almost every one. I have not tried hypnosis or Chantix. I think that is all. I lost my mom to lung cancer 5 and a half years ago and still have not been able to quit. You would think that would motivate a girl, right? I had really given up on ever being able to quit.

So last Friday morning I was watching a bit of tv before bed (vampire here. AKA night sift worker) and I see a commercial for the local vape shop. I had seen it before but I guess never really watched it, because I noticed all the little bottles lined up on the shelf. That was the first time it occurred to me that there may be flavors for them, other than some disgusting tobacco imitation. So off I went to check it out and soon I was the proud new owner of 2 ego Ts, a charger, some extra tips, some pomeld black and blue ejuice (pomegranate blackberry blueberry blend... so yummy!), and a new obsession. (All for 80 bucks... good deal?)

By Monday, I was having a little trouble with using that flavor non stop, so back to the store I went to try out some more. I added 2 more to my new little collection- cappuccino and butter nut crunch. Friday I am taking my first soon to be convert shopping, and I will be picking up at least one more, a little less sweet this time. I am quickly becoming an ejuice ho! (LOL- I saw that on a post yesterday and immediately thought yep, that's me!)

I am lucky in many ways to have a local shop. Without their commercial, I never would have investigated this whole alternative. Because I found quality stuff, I didn't get sucked in to one of those cheap disposables or the "free" trial that is warned about here. I was able to try the pv first. Had I not liked it, I could have tried others. And I can try all the ejuices I want before I buy. And since I am the ultimate procrastinator, the only time I have to worry about running out of supplies is non-business hours. :)

I am still smoking a few of the stinkies, mostly because they are still here. I just can't bring myself to throw my crutch away, and I have never been one who could have the stinkies around and not smoke. I am down to one though, which will be gone soon. Every time I smoke though I am asking myself why am I doing this? It is disgusting! I would much rather be vaping!!! I have never liked the taste, so that is always the least of my hurdles.

So since vaping takes care off my physical addiction to nic and and all the mental addictions that always are my downfall in quitting, I am really feeling good about this. I have been determined before. I have even been confident. Now for the first time in about 15 years, I am actually- dare I say it?- optimistic!!!

And now, since no newbie post would be complete with one, a question... when I am hanging around the house I am chain vaping. Partly just the whole hand to mouth habit/addiction, partly because I am enjoying it so much. When I say chain vaping, I mean I have emptied one of those little tip/juice holder thingys (sorry, haven't quite figured out all the lingo) in 3-4 hours. This can be a bit of a problem, since I have OD'd a bit a few times, and I am doing this close bedtime and causing some insomnia. So I was thinking of getting a lower dose juice for these times. I am currently using 18 mg/ml, which is just right with a normal amount of vaping. What would you recommend for chain vaping? 12, 6, or 0 alternated with vapes of my usual 18?

And one more question... how much juice does that little tip thingy hold, anyway?

Well, it looks like you didn't get spared the details of my lost post, after all. LOL. Hopefully at least a few of you have stuck with me till the end. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome tidegirl, it sounds like you're off to a great start!

I'm not familiar with the eGo-T, so I'm not sure how much juice it holds. But if you feel like you're getting too much nic by all means bump it down a notch. A few vets here on the forum recommend using a lower nic in the evenings if you're having trouble sleeping. I'd say get a bottle of 12 mg and see how it goes.

As for the being logged out, it's never happened to me. Maybe try clearing your cookies? Good luck!

A warm welcome to the forum Tide.
You saw your vendor on a commercial thats something . Many have started on the ego myself included , you ask how much juice the tank hold if that the tank that has no filler in it as some do yours either hold 1.2ml or 2.1ml the mega tank being the 2.1.
As a note from someone who had a 2pad habit for many years what helped me was i kept my PV with me everywhere in the car the john etc and when going out i carried spare battery and e-liquid and still do.
Best to you.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. I checked the remember me box, and so far so good. That seems to be keeping me logged in.

I will be getting some 12 mg tomorrow. I need a new flavor anyway LOL.

My tank (thanks for the terminology) does not have filler, so it must be the 1.2. If it was the 2.1, my first bottle would be long gone. I am just a little curious to track how much I am using daily. Not that I care really, I will vape as much as it takes to stay off the analogs, but I would like to know.

Oh, and I forgot to include... when I go for my juice tomorrow, I am taking my first convert with me! :D

I am curious about all the models and mods and accessories, but for now I am blissfully happy with my ego and if it ain't broke I ain't gonna try to fix it.

Tide if it ain't broke i ain't gonna try and fix it, my wife says all the time. ; )
Yes you have the tank , little tip for you
something that works well is filling thru the endcap with a syringe so as not to wear out the plastic endcaps by taking them off all the time , nowadays they have the silicone endcaps that wear much better in my opinion my wife uses them and the syringe to fill em still.
I have moved on but still once in a while go and use the trusty ego.
here is a link you might enjoy showing different PVs in action .
High battery performance and 6v electronic cigarettes

One more question... again, when I finished my message and tried to post, it said I was not logged in. I know I logged in before I started. Luckily, I had copied my post this time, or I may have run away screaming. ;) Does the system automatically log me out after a certain time? Can I change this?

Hi and Welcome tidegirl. :)

If I might make a suggestion about the whole chain vaping. I went through the same thing when I first started. I was vaping all the time at 18mg but I went the other way and got some stronger 24mg juice. This did the trick for me and I could actually put the PV down for extended periods. I think after smoking for so long the body craves a certain nicotine level in order to feel normal. I felt that because I was chain vaping, I wasn't keeping that level up. So when I went higher I think it helped a lot. Now I vape at 24mg and use my PV much like I use to smoke, about once an hour. Just my two cents...

Welcome tidegirl.. You have deffenently found the right place to help with your migration.. Everyone chain vapes their first few weeks... But be careful, you can burn out your tastbuds, and wind up not being able to taste any juice for a week or two, this can be frustrating, but if it does happen... It will pass... It's just flavor overload... Sounds like your off to a great start, go ahead and finish that last bad breath mint and never look back... It's time for your new life.... Your mom would be so proud!!!!

Welcome to ECF!

I would also recommend getting some cartomizers and trying them. A cartomizer is a cartridge and atomizer in one. The eGo tanks can be really finicky and leak alot. I find that they dull flavors and TH too. Most people end up switching to cartomizers. Cartomizers are really easy to use and work great. Any 510 threaded carto will fit on the eGo. I recommend trying some Boge cartos. They are very popular and work really well on the eGo. Get either the 3.0ohm or the 2.0ohm. Most people prefer the LR(low resistance) 2.0ohm, they will give a warmer vape and more TH. cartos are cheap and are made to be disposable, but if used right can be refilled many times. I would check your local shop and see if they have some. If not, many online vendors sell them. Crystal Clear Vaping has really good prices and free shipping which is nice when you just want to order some cartos. CCV also gives you a free syringe with all carto purchases, and if you buy a 15-pack, you get a syringe and a free drip tip. You can use the syringe to fill your eGo tanks and the cartomizers. I use a syringe to fill all my cartos bc it's very quick, easy, and ensures they are filled properly, but there are other ways to fill cartos.

Goodluck with everything!

For me chain-vaping means you're not getting the right amount of nic in your juice. At least for people who are just starting. I chain-vaped in my first weeks. It's because I was trying to trick myself into thinking I was smoking a real cigarette, knowingly or unknowingly. I was trying hard to make it work, "if this thing won't work, nothing else will." I still smoked four analogs a day (which was not bad from a 1.5 PAD smoker) just to compare during those weeks. It was a long process before I began to enjoy vaping more than I did smoking. After an analog-free month and half now I chain-vape half of the time for a different reason. I DO enjoy it.

This is the reason, imho, why starters need batteries that last long just as veterans do. Chain-vaping is inevitable. Everyone thinks slims will do the job and vaping will just be temporary. Lol. I wished it's that easy.

And if you think you don't like the taste of cigs now, just wait until your off them for alittle. Cigs really screw with your taste buds and it takes a few weeks to get them back to normal. Like slumdog said, many people also go thru a brief period too where they really can't taste anything, but that will go away. Be sure to drink LOTS of water and that will help, plus vaping dehydrates you so it's important to keep drinking throughout the day. Once your vaping for a few weeks and your tastebuds come back, that's when you realize that cigs taste absolutely awful, and that's when most people get off them completely.
If you order a juice and don't end up liking it, don't throw it away. Put it away and let it steep some and try it a week or 2 later. Since your tastebuds will change quite a bit, a juice that you didn't like in the beginning, you might really like it a month later. I also don't recommend buying big bottles of juice in the beginning because it goes the other way too. A juice that you really like now, might only be "meh" later

Congrats Tidegirl! Keep your optimism going! In reading this thread, the advice on mg content in your liquids from more experienced members makes so much sense. August 19th, the day I got my first kit, I quit analogs completely after 40 years, started with 6 mg liquid and stuck with that concentration. In retrospect, I know the mg level was a little hard on me. I also threw myself headlog into the vaping experience to take my focus away from analogs - a very PC way to say I obsessed, lol. I had one device or another in my hand so much that my family now fondly refers to them as my "binkies" That said, you can make even more progress. I now use 0, 3, or 6mg (mixing my own) liquid, depending, and notice a longer interval between vaping sessions. I also hope to get to 0 mg permanently, but will probably never give up vaping - I enjoy it too darn much... All those wonderful flavors... better than dessert!
