im only 21 so hopefully he takes this seriously and doesnt see this as a "hipster trend" thing for kids and young adults but we shall see.
Send him over to the front porch. There are plenty of us alter kockers over there, and he'll fit right in. We can answer any of his questions, and he might be comfortable asking us when he wouldn't want to ask a younger person.

Side bar:
Winter is coming.. I think Christmas this year should be some vape gear for your loved ones!
Focalecigs.com has some great deals... There is also fasttech and 101vape. Vision spinner 2 with a protank 3 or aero tank is a great start. A better start would be an mvp2 with one of those thanks. If your looking to spend more, a nautilus bvc would probably seal the deal for them!

Just trying to help :)

Great suggestion. I bought my mvp2 from 101vape and I know my daughter loves it because she steals it from me. Of course I do not complain because my goal is to get her to realize for herself that she can give up the cigs completely before her daughter is of an age to want to be like Mommy, and not in a good way. Living in New England I am hoping once they see me vaping and sitting warm, they will follow suit. Santa already has a few treats in (her) bag for them all this year. Maybe Christmas will come early, hope hope. ;) I can lead by example and encourage a switch but the work will have to be done by them each.

Like others have said, it can be used to cut back his smoking. He doesn't have to quit. It's technically more switching than quitting... Switching to a MUCH less harmful alternative. Being a dual user is fine, it's all about the ones you don't smoke. A full switch is possible, but I wouldn't push it too far. It's your dad, so take what you can get :)
I'm just saying the conversation doesn't have to be about "quitting" more of a "like smoking but without all the tar/rat poison/etc" so I guess, smoking with all the benefits of quitting - increased lung capacity, taste and smell return, less risk of health problems, no longer smell of cigarettes... If he does end up quitting.

Ditto. Quitting is a very scary road for many so maybe best if you stay away from using words like that. Maybe pretend you are trying a new juice and make a yummy face saying how good it is and ask him if he would like a toot (or word that you would use hahaha). If that doesn't work, maybe you can conveniently convince a friend to stop by while he is there because you promised to introduce them to it and put on a little play. He just might bite if he thinks it is about somebody else.

ok a see what your saying rather than a you have to quit approach its a alternative to smoking for when you cant smoke approach. i like it as it seems like much less of a personal attack on his smoking habit and will probably make him feel less cornered.

This is what I did with my aunt. We're pretty close, she practically helped my mom raise me, so when she told me she needed to quit but didn't want too I knew I was going to have be stealthy about it. So around the holidays we were at my Grandparents house and she was going outside to smoke in the snow with my cousins while I stood in the kitchen, in front of the huge kitchen window that overlooked the patio they were on, and vaped. When they came inside I still got to vape.

Then a couple of days later we were driving around town shopping and we passed by my local B&M so I told her I needed to get some juice. So we drove back around and went inside. I think it took probably 10 minutes of us being the store for her to start asking questions, then she slowly walked over to the juice bar and started sampling. I just kind of hung back and pretended to look at the other juices and some mods. After that she was hooked.

Now I just have to convince my cousins but she's been smoke free for about 8 months now.

I think the important part was showing her that she could smoke anywhere. I would vape in my mom's car (she's a non smoker), at restaurants, in the coffee shop, at bookstores, at the bar, basically everywhere I could in public to show it off in front of her.

Some places don't allow you to vape, so I'm hesitant to suggest that being a hook to get him into vaping... Sure, it can be a factor, but less harmful alternative should be the main draw IMO. If THAT changes than we should all stop vaping... But I think that is really unlikely.

The best piece of advice is don't bombard him with info... Soooo hard to do for me... There are so many devices in each category... So many different kind of juices... Sooo much to learn!! Cigarettes are so much easier! Lol
If your old ego and tanks are in good working order, I'd clean those up and give him that with a new pack of heads. Show him how to (or better yet, have him) clean it, change the heads, and fill it so he knows.

I'm a 35y+ smoker and and could not do the harsh Nic flavors. My first flavor was a Spicy Ice w/ 24mg of Nic and tasted horrible. I've only been vaping about a month and do a berry flavor with 12mg of Nic.
The bad part is i still long for cigs in the morning and late night but a pack is lasting now 4-5 days or more, and don't like taste of vapping after eating when I had to have a cig. Mornings are the hardest to vape for me, the rest of the day I can now get by with just vapping.

Hope that helps some for you

I'm only 32 but had been smoking since I was 13.
I started vaping a little over a month ago.
Have not touched an analog since. Tell him he won't have that phlegm in the mornings any more and will be able to yawn without coughing.

That is defiantly the best part of vapping not hacking up crud anymore and felling better

If you've got some vape shops near you, you should go sample a variety of flavors.
Some say keep a tank handy loaded with higher nic liquid for those harsh cravings.
Others swear by wta liquids. Be sure and read the cautions on those wtas.

Hope this helps!

Make sure he knows that he can find a good vaping setup, and use it "sometimes". Thinking of going cold turkey and then trying to find an alternative can be quite scary for the addiction centers in our brains, but if we just think about finding something we like, and adjusting to it, then thinking about if we want to quit after we've found something we enjoy is another store entirely.

I know some 30 year smokers who like tobacco flavors and other 30 year smokers who could only tolerate vaping fruit flavors. I was a Camel non filter full flavor smoker and I only like fruity flavors since the start, but I'm not a 30 year smoker. However I've gotten several started that went either way, there was no knowing until i set up ego cartos and let them go at it and see what the outcome was.

PM me if you think of any other questions I might can help with in the next day or so, I wont be reading the forums a lot but will get the PM notification.
