You had sticks? Feh! I smoked for 280 years, and I had to rub two bears together and get a light on my 14-paper smoke and get out of there before those bears realized they were on fire!

Bunch of dang whippersnappers! You had sticks and bears, but the worst time was that time after it rained 40 days and 40 nights, dangit, everything was wet for what seemed forever!

Thats just silly and unrealistic! every one knows you cant stick more than 13 papers together and have a good smoke.

Eve here. :) When God kicked us out of the Garden, we had to learn to make our own fire. Just asking for it wasn't gonna do it any more. Well, it took a while, but finally figured out if we ran to the nearest lightening strike, we could nab a couple of flaming sticks and hot foot it out of there before He got mad all over again. Fast forward a few years and we found that the tobacco leaves made for a better smoke than the fig leaves we were using. Finding that out helped save our wardrobe source!

You can't (probably) find a vape that's just like a cigarette.
What you want is a vape that you ENJOY.
That's what happened for me - then I vaped more and more and smoked less, and after a couple weeks, surprise - a cig tasted NASTY, and I just stopped. I wasn't even trying..
I know it's not easy like that for most folks, but I think the APPROACH makes sense.
Also, what strength nic are you using? I started with something like an ego/mini-protank, and initially used 24mg liquid...

This is me exactly.. Lucky for me I found, www.Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco.com, e-liquids for electronic cigarettes and https://www.myvapejuice.com/. The Net.com Organic spirit and NS Dark are what got me off the sticks.. Took about 6months of vaping with the right hand and smoking with the left. But I haven't had a whole cigarette since December. AND am down to 10mg/ml nic, from the starting level of 20mg/ml.

2 pack Marlboro a day, for just a decade a bit more and still counting
been vaping for the past 3 years I guess, started vaping when 901's were a hit and 6v vaping was still cool :)

I wont tell you how to help him stop, but I will share with you why I am still smoking, and maybe start from there.
now mind you,i own a mech and cloud chase from time to time,so I know that currently, the skill of building coils and making clouds are already there.the only reason I am saying this is because some people, are entirely engrossed on making clouds, and that what keeps them off the stinkies.

maintenance...
its all about maintenance...

there will be a time that dripping can be too much of a hassle, still easier to light up a stick
there will be a time that the new mods and rbas can be tiring, saving up,and trying to catch up with the latest gear and juice.
still easier to light up a stick
there will be a time that your batteries die on you.
you run out of juice in the middle of nowhere.
still easier to light up on.
there will be a time that all juices will taste the same..

end of the day,its still the willingness to quit.

Cold Turkey is the only thing that really works. Take a long nap, ten, twelve hours if you can. When you wake up, don't smoke, Anything. In three days you're free. Of course everybody's different but it will work. Tough it out.

This works so well, I must have done it 20 times in my 28 years of smoking!

The original cigarette flavor was Hangsen RY1. Innokin iTaste 16 tank will give him a more cigarette like vape experience than a Mini.

RY1 doesn't taste like much and neither do cigarettes. It does give you a nice ash like aftertaste like a cigarette, but not as nasty.

I started with the Nautilus Mini and had a hard time.

I would have had a lot easier and more favorable experience if I would have just started with one of the wick tanks. They give a nice well cooked vapor and a draw similar to a cigarette.

RY6 is Hansen's new cigarette flavor, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Tobacco flavor's could be anything and have nothing to do with having a cigarette flavor. Many are an unburnt tobacco extract flavor.

yep, I quit everynight before I went to sleep. :D

I actually did quit cold turkey once; it lasted 3 months and I couldn't bear it for another second. So sure, cold turkey works -- but it won't help you STAY quit, not one iota. E-cigs are the only things that do that, because they're a direct replacement.

The last time I quit cold turkey, I actually did really well. Slept for about three days. Everything was fine. No major fits. About 10 days later, I walked down to the library to return a book and found myself going into Walgreens on the way back home. I still don't know why I did that, but I did.

Yeah the quitting was no problem. I did it many times. The staying quit was the issue. 3 months now with no cigs. Vaping works for me and saving money too and I do not STINK:)

down to 5 mg nic. I do keep a couple of clearos filled with some 12 mg cig flavor for when I crave a cig. Still do with the stresses of the grandchildren and such.

This might work, if you've only been smoking for five months, but for those of us who smoked for more like five HUNDRED months, well, if it were effective, we'd have stopped long ago. ;)

30+ years and at the end a 2 PAD habit

what worked? I wanted to quit.

it's NEVER going to be like a cigarette..dad's got to WANT to.

now if pointing out someone carrying an O2 concentrator or play some youtubes with an end stage COPD'er..isn't incentive enough (it was for me..a long time girlfriend who had about the same smoking habits I did..is "end stage" and not eligible for a lung transplant due to her diabetes..that did it for me..I wasn't long behind her.

I had some awful menthol tobacco eliquid that helped with the morning coffee one in an eGo T/Protank 2 thingy..and my Russian/nemi with mother's milk the rest of the time and a HUGE DESIRE to QUIT SMOKING.

good luck

I smoked cigarettes for 40 years. I lost three people very close to me because of smoking related cancer. So I was motivated to quit, but needed some direction to quit. While listening to talk radio I heard some Hollywood type who quit talk about reading a book. Since I pictured myself still smoking with nicotine patches on while chewing Nicorette, I decided to buy the book. Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking @ Amazon, it worked. I smoked like a chimney while reading, then set my quit date, and it's been just over 8 years since I had any tobacco products. My wife still smoked up until 3 years ago when I got her started on e-cigs. I took them up because of having to maintain her vape stuff. She's been tobacco free for over 3 years now. The e-cig did the trick for her. If your motivated it can be done. Good luck.

Bottom line, he has to want to quit. If he doesn't want to quit, then he won't.

I was a lot like him, in that what I wanted was something that looked, and tasted, and felt just like a cigarette. I think that's common with smokers making the switch. But you can't get that. None of the flavors taste like a real cig, because to get that flavor, you have to burn things. If you keep it small enough to look like a cig, you have a tiny battery and hardly any juice, and even then, it's much heavier than a cig.

If he goes into it thinking "It'll be just like smoking", he'll probably be disappointed.

It took me awhile to make the switch. I cut my cigs down to 1/2 what I'd smoked before right away, and moved down to 6-10 cigs a day fairly easy, but getting rid of the last of them was harder. For me, the thing that worked was a higher level of nicotine. I'd been using 24nic, but sometimes, that wasn't enough. Especially after meals, I'd want a real cig. Eventually I got some 30nic juice, and that got me off the last of the cigs right away. Later, I cut back on the nic, but at first, just getting off the cigs is the main thing.

It worked well for me, and for some of my friends, but I've also had friends try it who never really converted and still smoke. I think it really comes down to "Does this person really want to quit".
