Since all the pics so far are of titanium and black, I thought I'd share something a bit different...

I'm pretty familiar with the cerakote process and coating itself and if I was ordering a Futura, didn't mind a little extra wait, and wanted to make it my own, I would def go for a custom color. My problem is I could never make up my mind no matter how long I stared at the swatches and sample pics. I tool a poll of friends and family and still came up inconclusive. I bet at least one person out there got desert tan though. This stuff is seriously tough.

One problem is they almost never look the same in pictures as they do in real life. The usual response is, "wow, thats even better than I thought it was going to be"

Why is the finish on the titanium cerakote different from the black in all the pictures?

It's a different paint - has some metallics and texture to it. Still Cerakote, though.

I love the Titanium finish, so happy with it and it helps blend or hide the display screw into the overall look of the device. Also I like how the airflow notches in the top cap and the display screw is at 45 degree angles with the body of the Futura, little things like that make me appreciate it more. (Is it just a fluke that mine ended up like that? )

I don't have any semovars or futuras for side by side pictures and I'd rather not get into photoshopping for proportions so until someone comes along with all three devices for a side by side here is an image of the different device lengths.

1mm=1pixel I didn't bother making it fully proportional for width so that will effect its illusory appearance. They're all 22mm wide...

View attachment 282606

red=Futura 18350 111mm
green=Futura 18350 with flat tail and 510 only "a little over 100"
orange=semovar 18350 100mm
yellow= provari mini 18350 87mm

The measurements were taken from manufactures sites with unknown heads/tail caps.

can you put a Wizard Apprentice Evolved in the graph pic too? :D

never mind i realize this is only for 18350 mode..

Jon, I have asked a few times by email but haven't received a firm answer... Would you please tell me my order number so I have some kind of an idea where I'm at in the queue? Thanks in advance!

Anybody get theirs without a tracking email?
I thought mine was shipping Tuesday but never heard anything and I don't want to bother them by asking again. Just wondering whether I should keep my hopes up everyday waiting for the mail to come without having received an email saying its being shipped out.

how does a WAE compare in 18650 mode in terms of Height out of all those?

According to their respective websites:
The WAE is 114MM (4.5IN) in 18650 mode and 99MM (3.9IN) in 18490 mode
The Futura is 5.5IN (139.7MM) in 18650 mode and 5" (127MM) in 18500 mode. The NexGen website also states that the "Tapered 510 - reduces overall device length by ¼”).
So the WAE is 0.75"-1" shorter depending on the cap you choose.

In response to another comment: I'm not sure it's time to kick dirt on an established product like the WAE just because of its price. Mark Bugs is delivering orders a week after placing an order (that is if you can get an order in; for me this is a bigger problem than it's price). 250 euros, UPS shipping included is a bit steep but if I had a nickel for every time I checked my 'Junk Mailbox' for a shipping notification from NexGen and a dime for every time I checked this forum hoping to get some indication that my order was shipping, the difference would not be that big.

What I like about the Futura vs. the WAE (by description only since I'm yet to receive my Futura) is the cerakote finish (feel, durability and custom colors), 22mm top cap (much more practical than the 21mm WAE for popular rebuild-ables such as the KFL+), extension tubes included (different battery modes) and the aluminum composition (lighter). I also like the design ergonomics such as the rocker (appears to look smooth) and the recessed fire button.

When I get my Futura I'll be sure to post some comparison pics. Happy vaping.

i have to say, after some time and testing the dna20 really seems well suited for running a genesis. im loving it.

for you guys still waiting and sweating it out hang in there, this mod rocks. At first i was kinda biased because of all the delays but this thing is really nice,
between this with my cobra and my semovar with a kayfun. my poor provari has been benched for the rest of the season lol.
