Unlike most Paul didn't ask for anyone's money up front and when he has had the chance between work and school we get updates. I'm with snakedoc, it will be a cool and quality mod to add to my stable. Nobody can say it hasn't been tested :)

It will be worth the wait and following the thread has been good to pass the time.

Has it really been 13 months? Damn I was one of the posters on page one. Time flies when you're having fun!

Believe it or not, I've been waiting for a custom mod for a year. When I first contacted the modder it was only supposed to take a month or so, but I guess life got in the way. I feel I got a good deal as he agreed to do it for a trade of another mod. Well he got the mod and I paid for the dna 40 chip, but it's still not done. To be honest I don't even want a regulated squander anymore, let alone a dna40.

I will try my best to have the first batch ready to ship by Christmas, and will post a detailed video at that time. Payment will be taken when the mod is ready to ship and after a final confirmation with the buyer.

Yep. And hey, maybe we'll get it in time for Christmas this year :)

Plus I don't think any of us are in dire NEED of a new mod, but rather in WANTING a new mod. Life gets in the way sometimes. I highly doubt he's intentionally making us wait. It's his first mod and I would assume he wants to give us a nice finished product. Plus he's outsourcing a lot of the machining. If you really need a mod right this minute buy another to hold you over, I guess.

I totally get that. I signed up for another mod about three weeks before this one and I expect MyMod will still get here sooner. I have so much patience that I've gathered most of the materials I need to make my own mod, but am waiting for my woodworking skills to improve before attempting it. I really should get on it soon, though.

Yeah it's not my intention to make you guys wait. I actually feel a bit guilty this has taken so long. This thread was started prematurely by me and I learned the lesson that one should not announce a product until it's completely tested and ready to ship. I also started my M.Eng degree last Fall (bad timing), and the course works is the reason for the long wait. I will be getting my degree in Dec.

As some of you said, I do have a lot of things going on in my life now and juggling different things is not my strong area. Moreover, I'm outsourcing pretty much everything so it's not like I can make changes in my shop and test right away, and getting a product right, even something as simple of this mod, is not as straight forward as I initially thought. There are lots of parts and you have to find suitable (multiple) suppliers who can make the parts to your specs and at the right price. It involves a lot of communication, waiting, making changes to drawings, organizing everything well, and so on. It's true that I'm not depending on the mod to be my main source of income. In fact, I'm not even trying to make much profit on the first batch. That's why I lowered the price to $100 from $125, and I offered spare parts for free. That's my way of compensating you for the long wait. My goal from designing this mod is to gain experience and build relationships with suppliers so my future endeavors would be more smooth.

For now, I see a job as my main source of income which is why my coursework has higher priority. The professors aren't as forgiving as you guys when it comes to deadlines, and grades, once given, will stay on academic record forever, hehe. I also wish I could've checked this forum more often and updated you guys more frequently. But the thing is, a lot of time I have nothing new to say, and I don't want to keep on making excuses for delays. Believe it or not, you guys are constantly on my mind. Having said that, the mod is close to being finished now, and I will update you as soon as possible. Thanks.

Hey Paul, very cool to hear you're continuing your education and it's cool that you keep us in your thoughts but you don't owe me an explanation. The mod looks beautiful and well worth the wait.

Your doing a good job man, don't sweat the small stuff and focus on your future.

What's that saying.... good things come to those that wait ;)

Paul, your education is far more important than worrying about a mod, so get that done, and when you're able, play with this mod. None of us are hurting for mods. We would just love to have this well thought out one of yours whenever you get it done. No worries. :thumb:

I echo what the others have said. I do understand what you are going through with the Masters. You only get one chance to do it right. I have no issue with waiting. That being said, it is nice to see you post info. I have never worked with external resources to make a mod, so it did not occur to me about needing to work with multiple suppliers and make adjustments.
