Hi everyone, I'm Teedz and this is my first post. I recently (3 weeks ago) started "vaping" as you call it! I'm close to 30 and have been smoking for at least 15 years...I've never been over 1/2 a pack a day but as a smart man, I can't justify smoking anymore.

Note that I live in Canada so most e-cigarettes/vapers I could find here seems to be derived from the same base products but without any nicotine in e-juices and cartridges.

Bought my first e-cig at the corner store, it was a "Blu cig", the disposable model. It's a solid unit, you can't unscrew the tip or recharge the battery. The taste was great and the smoke was nice, I really liked it so I decided to buy a starter kit online.

Bought what I believe is the typical 510-T mini-cigarette (battery+(atomizer thing+juice cartridge)) at esmokercanada. I have to admit it doesn't taste as good as the disposable stick I bought before and has now reverted to use it part-time when smoking an analog is out of the question. Out-of-the-box, I want to say that it tastes like battery but it's probably more of a metallic after taste...

I eventually started reading some more about this trend and realized there's a whole world of vaping devices out there. And now well...I'm lost!!

My question(s) for today (many more will come I'm sure) is:
-Can someone confirm that, whether it's called an "atomizer", a "cartomizer" or a "clearomizer", it's always the same "device" that heats a tasty liquid? I mean, all theses names seem to refer to the assembly rather than a different technology right?

and

-Anyone has any suggestions for someone looking at a portable vaper that I can get in Canada, for the inexperienced to moderately experienced user that wants good taste, the ability to use e-juices, good (not fantastic) throat hits, regular battery life (I'll get two!) and as much vapor as possible without breaking the bank (the piggy weights around 100$, got some spare change for juices and extras).

I think that's enough for today. Oh I forgot, since I started "vaping", my pack of smokes last 3-4 days now and I know that, for me, the "culture" around the action of smoking is what keeps from stopping...not the amount of nicotine. I know I can do it, help me find the right tools!

Hi Teedz, welcome to ECF and congrats. After 5 posts wait 1 hr for the ECF servers to reset and request a Cdn vendors list:

Different delivery systems:
atomizer/ atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped
cartridge/ cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the atty- juice drips on to atty from cart and is vaporized
cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element.
carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto.
Clearomizer- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing.

More info to follow.

Welcome to ECF!

Cartos(cartridge and atty combo) and clearos are filled and have filler material or wicks, attys heat the liquid to a vapor but are not "filled" they're dripped or "squonked" in the case of a bottom feeder/atty combo

Sorry I have no clue on the other question, someone more familiar with Canadian vaping we hope will answer that

Welcome to ECF and congrats on the effort to change from stinkies to vaping. I'm sure the Canadians here will clue you in on equipment, juice and vendors in your area. One can always also buy from the states, but customs sometimes hangs on to shipments coming into Canada. It seems to be hit and miss most of the time. Sometimes the package gets thru sometimes not.

Good luck traveling our road ;)

Already? Wow thanks for the info guys!

I was reading a lot on the Ego-T / Ego-C / Ego-Twist. I seems to be the device that responds to my current needs while keeping an "open mind" if I ever want to upgrade (Correct me if I'm wrong but the "510" threading looks like some sort of standard right now).

Thanks for explaining the difference between cartomizer/atomizer/clearomizer, I think I got it now! Too bad there aren't any specialized stores that I know of here because seeing, touching and maybe trying some would make it clearer!

I'll be sure to keep you guys updated!

All eGo are the most popular 510 thread BUT if not buying the Twist then get a Riva or Kgo as the batt is better/ higher voltage than the regualar eGos.
Here's Twist sizes WITHOUT cartomizer on it- carto+ drip tip another 50? mm
650 mah= Length 97mm(3.75")/Diameter 14mm
900 mah= Length 111mm/Diameter 14mm
If I knew what area of Canada you're in I might be able to suggest a vendor.
Cheers.

Now realize I have NO financial or personal ties with Canvape but he's the least expensive vendor in Canada with all the latest gear. He is located in Newmarket but also has a Flea Mkt stall on weekends at the Highway 400 Flea Mkt just south of Barrie. Kevin usually runs the stall but Adam, the owner, is usually there. He's on the north side wall of the mall...be careful as another vendor is also there with outrageous prices. Email Canvape and tell them what you're interested in. I drop in on the way to the cottage to buy new products...I bought a convert this kit (out of stock) 8+ weeks ago and he LOVES it

If I understood correctly, you suggested this item (510 standard Resistance Atomizer) as an extra atomizer to be able to test juice without emptying the other (Stardust 2.0 coil ego vision stardust) right?

So the "combo" Ego-twist battery+ Stardust coil makes an entire unit that only needs charging (usb/wall charger) and something to burn (e-juice).

Man there's so much to learn I can't believe I didn't even knew e-cigarettes and personal vaporizers existed a month ago!

Thanks again!

Yes when getting new juices you'll run into some nasty stuff guaranteed. Rather than fould up a clearo and have to clean it you just drip a few drops on the atomizer/ atty and test vape.

Yes you've got the battery and the clearo which is a wick+ element in a plastic tank that screws on to the battery. Not safe to charge off your pc usb port unless you know it can handle it- many friend ports and some MB out there. The wall adapter enables to to plug the usb cord into wall outlet.

I guarantee once you have PV in hand it will all make sense.
Realize with the 650 mah Twist the battery will last about 4-5 hrs because you're vaping at a higher voltage.
Cheers.

Welcome to ECF. A lot of great people here. Congrats!

Indeed! Thanks everyone for explaining what's what and what.

Since we last spoke, I did find a few e-juices from Crystal e-juice at a flea market near home that range from "I hate it" to "I'm still vaping it right now"!

Bear in mind that I only tried them on my 510-T mini-e-cigarette which I'm pretty sure now is the cheapest e-cig on the market...

-Strong Pomegranate: I hate it I don't know why it tastes like hot fruit, more sour than sweet. Also, weird after-taste of chemicals, maybe to give it more punch?

-Double coffee: Not a big fan, it tastes like coffee beans, not coffee!! It's strong and it also have that strange chemical taste to it.

-Tobacco: Absolutely fantastic, massive smoke and rich taste that's a little salty at first...but then it just tastes and smells like Marlboro...I can really see myself switching from regular cigarettes with this one.

Thanks Vapoor eyes er, I ordered almost exactly what you suggested me, I can't wait!!

E-cigarette-forum, fantastic forum, you'll ear more from me soon!

I think it's starting to make sense. It's in the mailbox and I'll be checking that out tonight! It's the wealth of information and naming of the products (510, 808, 901, Ego Kgo bingo) that got me confused. That and the fact that most easily obtainable info is given by website selling the stuff... Reminds me of the time I wanted to overclock my computer...near the end I was simply asking myself why the hell did they stopped making "TURBO" buttons hahaha (younger people might not get it)!

ps: I did get a slightly bigger battery.

Here's a little update since I said I would:

Got my Ego-Twist (2x), a couple of stardust/vision 2 (v3) clearomizer with extra coils and a few other supplies. I'm still waiting for some juices BUT I was used the ones I already tried with the little 510 e-cig and let me tell you that they taste completely different!!! So I have the re-adjust:

Crystal e-juice:

Bold coffee:
Strong flavour with after taste of brown sugar, it's really good but I wouldn't smoke it all day long!!

Pomegranate:
The taste is much better with the ego/stardust, it's fruity and sweet...not my thing but the gf love it!

Tobacco (the sticker isn't on the bottle anymore so I don't know truly what it is) :
I want to say "luxurious" taste but it wouldn't make it any justice. It's smooth and a little salty, no real after taste or even punch to it (0 nicotine) but the moment you inhale is just fantastic and the vapor production is just intense. If I find more about this one (the actual name!), I'll be sure to post it!

I'm now waiting for couple of samplers (8 I think). I hope I will find a good replacement for cigarettes because although the juices I have are great, they don't feel like "smoking". I got a 555, Ry4 and Turkish style tobacco coming, can't wait!

Thank you all for getting me started on that, I'm on 2 packs a week (I can stretch it 4 days as long as I don't go out fishing with buddies) and I don't really feel like I miss it.
