well crap... that stinks.. wth??? really? multiple sized tubes? I will be on the horn for sure on this, keep me posted guys I don't want anyone stuck with a ill fitting tube.

edit: OK, hold a sec here... Just out of curiosity, can someone post if their tube fits the original griffin with the metal and not the new one or vice versa, I want to make sure this isn't an o-ring issue.
I gave my two testers away today so I can't check now.

I am wondering if the orings are different due to the material they are used with plastic vs metal.

also GMONEY, are they different when you hold them edge to edge are they different diameters? or is it the edging melted inside due to the cut?

I tried both new tubes on the original griffin. They were replacements for the metal tank,I didn't check I. D.

The one that came in today with the clear tube leaked like a sieve. Took it apart, and turned out the tank ID is a bit too large. Popped on one of the replacement tanks, and it fits just fine. They look identical when eyeballed, so I suspect that tank will fit one of the others when I change it out.

The clear tank makes it easy to line up the hole to the wick. So as long as the hole is close to aligned when tightened, the final adjustment is much easier to do knowing exactly where the wick is.

Another minor issue is the threading for the negative post is quite loose. The newest one won't tighten down at all, and all of the others are rather loose. There is a lot of unused threading that the short little set screw doesn't reach, so I'm going to the hardware tomorrow to find some longer set screws.

O ring wasn't the problem on mine. I took o ring out and still tight, I am using it with out o ring on top and I forced it in on bottom with o ring on, O ring seem damaged on it now.

They work exactly the the same on the "new" Griffin as the "original" Griffin - 3 fit on perfectly and the 1 won't go on.

They appear to be the same size tube - the difference is only a matter of microns. It is hard to say if it is a slight difference in "wall" diameter or thickness variation due to the cutting process but the difference is virtually imperceptible visually.

I used some sandpaper to create a slight bevel on the inner part of the "bad" tube and I managed to get it to slip on without damaging the o-ring but it will take some effort (and caution) to get it to slide on as nicely as the others.

ah, very good to know, whew!

I have some replacement orings here, they were at the bottom of the box, I have to figure out what they are for, if there is a difference, I will try to do this this weekend and post it up.

Well with that price ..what did you expect ...... Ur the best out there mate

those are really a wash for me, wanted to have something for all the original metal buyers, a lot of people ended up buying just the one tube and that ends up costing me money with the packaging LOL..

gotta rethink my pricing sometimes. :)

when I see an order for just the tube it just makes me kick myself LOL

Lol 1 tube is a bit of a creaker ..lol... I buy from here " Europe and most of the sites won't let you put orders shipped outside there state under 15 euro .which I very understand . So if ur picking something might just pick a few other things aswell ...even if you don't need em right away .. But just out of consideration ...

Got my Griffin yesterday but didn't get a chance to play with till today and I have a question.
Haas anyone had a problem with the set screws? The hole for the negative set screw seems to be not cut the same as the fill hole. Both screws will set into the fill hole but will not tighten on the negative hole. And of course, I can't find another screw with the same threads to try.
Any help or comment would be greatly appreciated.

Ran into the same problem with the last one I got too. I got it to hold by wrapping the wire around the screw x2, but of course that's not optimal. I need to find a little longer screw to reach down to the good threads. No dice at Home Depot.
