In theory, yes. In practice, they say that their batteries are somehow special and other batteries will void the warranty or malfunction. (I don't believe anyone has actually found anything special about them..)

I use some de-protected nightcore's in it that I got for my imotion and they work fine, but I tend to leave the standard battery in most of the time..

I'm using a Panasonic 18650A, 3,100 mAh (green) in mine. I'm not saying you should do the same thing. One curious thing is the 1.2 version has a battery setting that states "customize". They turn around and say the only two batteries that can be is the one's they have listed. As Andy Griffith would have said, "curious, curious"!

Can I use any 18650 battery in the evic?

I can't believe the mah ratings on these batteries. That's some good engineering.

I'm thinking I'll likely be able to double my vaping time on a single battery when my evic arrives (currently using 1100mah -18490s in my ProVari). I halfheartedly tried to look for the 3400mah batteries yesterday, but didn't find them. I'm glad I didn't look too hard. I did buy 2 extra batteries for the evic though -- I tend to vape a lot!

Looking at all the custom tubing that's coming out for this thing makes me really excited! The first time I tried an evic, the guy had a really custom 18350 tube on it. It was seriously one of the coolest tubes I'd ever seen.. Wish I remember where he picked it up! I'm sure we'll see a lot of aesthetic mods come out for this thing.

I like the idea also of being able to have many colors and sizes with them.

I bought one of those (the green Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mah) early this morning to go along with my eVic impulse buy. Even remembered to get a charger too! The XTAR WP2 II. I hope I was remembering right when I chose that one. Seemed like the consensus was that it was a solid device. I'll have to wait until I get another mod (the Innokin Itazte SVD maybe) before I need something like the Xtar VP1.

I know this thread is starting to collect dust, but it's where I posted my first question about this charger so.....

Neither of my 18650 batteries charge unless I lift the negative end up a little bit. This sorta bothers me. I already returned one of these and this is the replacement unit that I just received. I thought this one was defective just like the first one, and only discovered this positioning "trick" by accident. Should I be concerned? image (Medium).jpgphoto (Medium).jpg

I use the same charger as you and I'm having the same issue with my samsung 2600. I think it is because the wrapping on the battery sticks out a little to much on the positive side. I have to raise the battery a little bit when I put it in the charger for it to make a connection so it will start charging. I haven't noticed any adverse effects of this and according to my multimeter my battery always comes off the charger with a full charge.

Ah, okay, thanks. Good to know. I let it finish charging and it did read as full on my eVic, and I didn't notice any warmth from either the battery or the charger.

The Panasonic battery is working great, btw. I haven't counted the numbers but I do know that with the Samsung, I would get near to zero life left after one day. The Panasonic battery lasts quite a bit longer. I'm a chain-vaper too, so that's a plus.

Obviously there is a minor design flaw in the charger. The head end does not allow for less than Flat contact. Almost all battery chargers have a bit of a button on the + end.
