Hi,

Name is David and I've been apart of this forum for a few months wondering why I wasn't able to post till I finally clicked on the link saying "click here if blah blah blah" feel like an idiot now lol.

So yea, I don't smoke myself, but my dad does and the entire reason I'm apart of this site is for information about e-cigs. I wanted him to switch because of health concerns, insurance rates, and not wanting to talking to him without 2ft between us because of the tabacco breath.

So far it's been 3-4 months and he hasn't had an analog =). unfortunately his Egos are breaking down, atties last for about 2 weeks or less. one ego battery died, lost the other ego battery, and has one 900mah battery left. I was thinking of having him try another brand and this seems to be the ideal time since the restock of equipment will be around $70 anyways.

I always do a ton of research and the other brand I was looking at was called X-Power I think. Any other suggestions? Also looking for cheap atties without having to ship from overseas (live in MA, US), I just think that paying $8+ apiece is a bit much.

When you say the eGo's are breaking down, do you mean that they aren't holding a charge or not producing enough vapor? Atomizers can be cleaned so they last longer and they also need to be kept wet while they're in use, otherwise they stop working sooner. I've purchased attys from MadVapes, LiteCigUSA, PureSmoker, and MyFreedomSmokes. All of them are good vendors in the US. PureSmoker and MyFreedomSmokes offer discounts on bulk purchases. I've heard of the X-Power, but really don't know much about it. You can do a search on the forum for it to see what people think. I've been very happy with the Riva/eGo batteries, but they now server as the primary for my fiance and back-ups for me since I moved to a mod.

I agree that the prices of getting attys and having them break over time is discouraging but think about your fathers health and he should be saving on the price vs analogs. In my area a pack of analogs costs 7 bucks and that's if he was only a pack a day smoker. But by all means experiment with different brands and let us know how he likes em and how they hold up. The more info the better.

Hi David. Congrats on getting your dad to switch over to vaping!

I have no knowledge on the X-power, so can't help you there. I don't own an Ego, but from what I understand those batteries are top of the line so he might want to stick with those. I use the PigCig which is like an Ego with KR808D-1 threading. As far as the expense of atties, I would suggest that he try cartomizers. He would be able to get 510 cartomizers for his Ego. They are meant to be disposable so at less then $2 a piece he can keep refilling until the taste gets funky and throw them out. For me I get quite a bit of refills out of my cartomizers, a package of 5 for around $8 lasts over a month.

If you are wanting to try a different brand/ style I would do the KR808D-1 route. The cig size batteries can be gotten for $10 and have 280 ohm. There are also higher ohm batteries for the KR808D-1 threading that would be more like his Ego. But since he already has 510 supplies I would try the 510 cartomizers first.

Hi,

I was thinking of having him try another brand and this seems to be the ideal time since the restock of equipment will be around $70 anyways.

This really depends on your father. Personally, I would not like to be in a position to have to switch to something I may not like. I would say buy some time with spare parts and then, with the luxury of time, find something that may be less costly but also keeps him 100% happy. He would be spending money on analogs anyway, so is it really that expensive?

I am writing this because you said you don't smoke. This aspect, however, is very important for many people to keep their minds off of analogs.

I can only recommend the site I use, but since I've only been vaping a week, I don't know how these products would compare with what your dad is using now. I use revolvercig.com I started with what most folks call a mini (looks just like a ciggie), but I know they carry 4 other models. I've been really really pleased with my products and especially the customer service. They have been very patient with me as I've asked a thousand questions. I would say it's worth a look anyway.

I think the main reason the atties die is because my dad vapes it till it's dry and I had him regulary change on time intervals now. We haven't used any cleaning methods for them.

The batteries stopped holding a charge. I think this one he charged regularly for about 4 months. He leaves it in over night though which had me worried since I know for some products it overcharges and fries the battery.

I could be wrong but I believe the ego chargers will stop once the battery is fully charged so you shouldnt have to be worried about that aspect but mind u I could be wrong. Someone will probably know more than me. Just remember all batteries will eventually die and that its a battery being used daily and frequently. But u should Try cleaning his old atties, it's cost effective and simple to do for him.

I'm sure he would be happy with just the ego, really I think it's just my experimenting side that likes to try new things. He has found the e-juice that works for him (marlboro from Nicotinenirvana 24 mg mixed with 36mg) so as long as he can use that mix in the new ecig there should be a high chance he'll be happy. The main goal of a new brand is for longer battery life and better atties.

Worse comes to worse he still has a 900mah battery for the ego so we can always switch back.

If he likes his eGo, just order a 510 Riva kit (off brand eGo) for $30 from Liberty flights. It will have 2 new batteries and attys in the kit, and will work with all of his eGo stuff. Also, if he is having issues with vaping it dry, get a 5 pack of Boge 510 2ohm cartomizers (combo of cartridge and attomizers) holds 25 drops of juice and is 7.99 for a 5 pack.
