Good evening dalies and mentlegen,
Hello to you all. I'm new to vaping, this is my story of how I came to be here. I quit smoking about a month ago. I had quit cold turkey in the past, but during stressful times relapsed. Before quitting again I was smoking pouch of roll your own cigarettes a day, or about 40 unfiltered smokes. This time around I bought both gum and patches to keep withdrawal at bay. The gum was so nasty tasting I used one piece and threw the rest out. The patches worked somewhat, but I still fighting craving after craving, fighting hard, and losing. After about a month I was cracking bad, bumming cigarettes while drunk at parties, buying an occasional single black and mild after work, as I knew I couldn't trust myself with a whole pack of smokes. Then, a few days ago, the cravings were just overwhelming me, my life was becoming dysfunctional, it was all I could think of, I was going to cave in so I could resume living a normal life. While wearing my nicotine patch, I was walking to the nearest gas station with the intention to buy a pack of smokes. Luckily when I got there there were disposable cigalikes on the counter, and I was still determined not to smoke. I walked home vaping happily. It's now 3 days later, and I haven't even put on a new patch, nor craved a real cigarette. It's like I can have my cake and eat it, too! So now I'm here researching APV's deciding which will be right for me. Thanks for having all this info in one place!

Welcome to the show ...
The gum was so nasty tasting I used one piece and threw the rest out.
What I find funny is that nic-gum is touted as being safe when they shrink your gums and make your teeth feel lose after several months of use. I know, I know ... you are just supposed to leave them under you tongue, but in all practice it doesn't quite work that way.

I think the nic gets trapped way under the gumline and can create some problems.

Luckily when I got there there were disposable cigalikes on the counter, and I was still determined not to smoke. I walked home vaping happily.
Never even gave the FDA a chance to set you straight?

Seems they've lost the concept how dangerous t-cig smoking can be and the suffering that indifferent agency likes to levy against the very same citizens it was charged to look after.

"You found something that made you quit? We don't care, it's not approved."

But killing yourself with tobacco is.

I was wondering...what happens if the FDA decides to take action against e-cigs? What exactly would transpire? Could they ban the sale of all e-cigs? Or would they just ban juice? If they did the latter, how hard would it be to make your own juice?

Congratulations, Mentlegen! Welcome to ECF and to vaping!

. . . . but for some they can be like a gift.

Much more than a gift. An absolute miracle! I smoked for 37 years and could never go without for more than a few hours (except for a couple of days when I was deathly ill). So, for me, it truly is a miracle!

The only thing I would think they could control would be the nicotine. What are they going to do? Take the batteries out of our phones and computers? Confiscate all PG, VG, and food colorings? How would we survive without all our food additives? Maybe confiscate all vaporizers? Make sick people go to the hospital to use a vaporizer when they're sick?

No, nicotine is the only part of the process that seems vulnerable, to me anyway. They wouldn't outlaw it completely. After all, chicken farmers need it! But, they can make it harder to get and much, much more expensive!

It would make it 100x harder to buy or sell. Which would make it more expensive as well. And for all the negative outcomes, nothing positive. I'll stop here to avoid a long political rant, lol.

Buy a bigger freezer ... lol

I have no idea what any outcomes would be, others are far qualified to comment on this than me.

But ... if prohibition of the bootleg era is any index ... I believe in the end if enough people beat the whacky-tobacci with e-vaping and they want to regulate it out of existence, they'll have a losing battle on their hands. They don't have the resources to deal with it.

One more thing I want to add here ... extremely unlikely vaping will ever be regulated out of China, and that always leaves a production market, although probably not the highest quality one. It'll just have to be kayaked across the Bering Strait ... lol. Furthermore, even in countries which have nicotine import restrictions, plenty of nic is manufactured within.

The only thing I would think they could control would be the nicotine. What are they going to do?
Ya, the $ 999,999.99 question.
