Hi there. I smoked regular cigs for 10 years, a pack and half a day. Tried to quit countless times with the patch, gum, chantix, you name it.

Two weeks ago I started a new quit. This time I decided to use the patch and use ecigs to cover the times when I still get nic cravings even with the patch on (which is usually at night).

So I start with the patch and vaping on the blucig. Within a day I am vaping constantly, so I taper the patch off to stage 2, then 3 really fast. I am finally getting rid of the stage 3 patch tomorrow.

Anyway, I bought some e-liquid through tastyvapors, atmoic cynacide, based on recommendations here. I am going through about 2 ML per day, meaning a 30 ML bottle is about 2 weeks for me. This is at 24 mg nic strength.

Am I vaping in too much nic? Should I go to a lower concentration? How much does it affect throat hit to lower the nic concentration?

BTW, I am amazed at how little interest I have in regular cigs now that I started vaping. Neither the patch nor the gum ever helped me much with the psychological craving for cigs, but now, I am pretty much confident that I'll never smoke them again. I haven't thought about cigs in over a week.

So I want to keep on with the vaping. Just want to make sure I'm not overdoing it.

Welcome...Sorry can't tell you if you are vaping too much...If you are having any physical side-effects to vaping,,,then maybe you are...Vaping is totally an individual
thing....At least that is what I read around here...All I can say is for me...also a 1 & 1/2 a day analog user for over 25 years,,,,I started on 24mg,,,but it was too much for me..
so went down to the 11-16 mg range and loving it...No side effects and it supplies all
my nic needs...So like they say..."Different Strokes...For Different Folks" again. good
luck....and Enjoy....P.S. Maybe, some of the "Veterans" from this forum will give you a more diffinitive answer...

If you think you are using to much then cut your .... With vg now! I once vaped 36 mg/1ml straight and felt like my blood pressure was going through the roof. Actually started feeling a tingling in my hands and light headed. If you feel that you are using to much cut it down to what works for you. It is not rocket science buy vg and a graduated eye dropper. Write down what works for you and stick to it.

I feel OK. When I started vaping with the level 1 patch on, I did start to get a little nauseous when I vaped a lot. But now that I have the level 3 on (only 7 mg), I can vape tons and I don't feel any ill effects.

I guess I'm wondering how much other people vape. Is 2 ML per day, meaning I go through a 1 ounce bottle in 2 weeks, more than usual? I dunno, it just seems like I'm vaping all the time.

I go through juice like a crazy person... really have to CUT THAT OUT  I think it's because I'm using a premium cartomizer on a 5V passthrough. That's my excuse and I'm stickin to it!!

Surely it has nothing to do with the fact that I have the stupid thing stuck in my face from morning to night! AC rocks, lol!

No kidding. In fact, I vaped twice just while typing the words "no kidding."

Hi woolfe99;

Welcome to the forum!
I'm glad e-cigs are working for you, but a word of caution.

It isn't advisable to use the nicotine patch and vape at the same time. You could end up with nicotine poisoning. If you start to feel nauseous, or light headed, you may be getting too much nicotine.
There is a Health section here on the forum that may be able to give you more info. We don't give medical advice, but some of the other tips might help you. Don't hesitate to post your questions. The members here are great, and have some sound advice. :)

Definitely lose the patch if you're vaping and don't feel the need for analogs. For now if you're happy with the 24mg, I'd just keep on going. After a month or so, you should take a moment to consider lowering your nic level. That is of course if your final goal is to get off nic completely.

Thats the process i think most of us go through. Phase one is the break from analogs, phase two is lowering the nic levels, phase three is using a nic free juice, and phase four is to stop vaping.

Of course I'm no doctor so take this advice with a grain of salt. I have learned from my experiences that if you go too quick, you risk getting back on analogs. Be happy with your current accomplishments.

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the advice. As I mentioned, I did actually get nauseous while on the stage 1 patch, but the stage 3 I have on right now is only 7mg over an entire day, and I'm ditching it tomorrow.

It occurred to me that patch + ecigs would be too much, but I wanted to over saturate with nic to make sure there was zero chance I would want to smoke again, and I figured my body would tell me when I had too much, which it did.

Actually I have no intention of ever dropping nicotine entirely, though I do want to cut down my intake. At the very beginning, my intention was to do so, but after I started vaping and looked into what is and isn't known about the health risks, I pretty much decided that this was going to be replacing one habit with another, unless or until it is discovered that vaping is riskier than it appears right now. So I'll probably be going to your stage two but not beyond that. I think I'm aiming to get down to like 12 mg liquid.

I agree with Alex, 2ml per day seems to be the norm for most vapers on the forum. Also in the beginning there is a learning curve so you may use more nic initially then you will later on. You will know if you're using too much, you'll get a headache or a nic buzz. If you're doing fine on the 24mg then stick with it until you feel the need to cut down. I use 18mg, and I pretty much vape all day with no side effects. Good luck & welcome to the forum.

Go with the flow of the forum, but go with your eyes wide open.
The forum has a lot of great information but vaping, as many other things are personal choice/taste/feeling/enjoyment.

I was a ‘dumb’ pack a day smoker; why? Because many cigarettes were “just because”… I used to really enjoyed about 5 in a day, the rest were simply the addiction; sometimes even tasting bad but kept on doing it. I got tired of the stink in my house, clothes, etc and one day, after my research I started vaping and haven’t use analogs since that day.

I didn’t really want to “quit smoking” because I really enjoyed those 3 or 5 cigs a day; I quitted for 2 years and then I thought I was ready to be a “3 cigarettes-a-day” guy but I went back to a pack. As many here, I started with 18 mg nic and only cigarette flavors. The forum helped me open my eyes and venture to flavors and mods.

Today, I vape a lot, really a lot, between 5 to 7 ml a day when I’m at the office and the usual 2 to 3 ml when being away my PC.
Today, I’m in my niche, and I really enjoy what I do: I start vaping after breakfast, using tobacco at 11mg; then switch to coffee and/or chocolate flavors cero-nic for the rest of the morning; after lunch, once more I take a hit of tobacco but this time at about 3mg and switch again to non-nic liquid and same by night. So, I’m using very little nicotine and some days, I go without nicotine without a problem.

Some flavors can give you (again, this is subjective), TH even without nicotine, and it will depend on the flavor and the device used. Once you get more experience and taste more liquids you will find your way; the most important task is to be away from analogs.

What the ever-wise trukinlady said.

It is NOT advisable to vape and have the patch on at the same time so, that being said, glad to hear you're on your last patch. :)

What everyone says is about right, you'll feel it when you're getting too much nic. (C'mon, we all know the feeling..same one we used to get if we chained smoked too much first thing in the morning..YOU remember having to bend over and put your head between your knees so you wouldn't puke, don't you? Hey! Yeah! Like that!!) 8-o

If 24mg isn't working for you, you MAY want to try going a bit higher. If you like AC, I know that Geoff goes higher. But, be warned, I received a bottle of 24mg and then got a 36mg and, I find that, at the 36mg, it gets pretty harsh. (Harsh enough to chuck it? YOU OUTTA YOUR MIND??!?!?)

As for your juice intake, I'd say I've vaped a good 3/4 of my AC 24mg in a WEEK.

Just give it some time, you'll find your 'happy spot' pretty quickly and get those patches off!!
