Introduction - New old guy returns to vaping....

Thanks to everyone that makes this forum possible, this place is awesome!

After a 3 year hiatus, I'm trying to kick the analog habit again and decided to give vaping another try. My last experience with ecigs was less than ideal, it wasn't all that satisfying and I just couldn't drop the habit for good. Thankfully I found this forum and started learning about all the new stuff (WOW) which led me to try something different this time around. Last week I bought an epipe (Kamry) and I'm glad to report that I'm now into my third cig-free day in a row! Woo-Hooo!

The epipe I'm using is working much better than my ecigs of old but I'd still I like a fuller 'hit' if you will, so I'll be looking for simple upgrade that will (hopefully) hold me over until I take the plunge into the mad world of modding!

Had exactly the same experience. Tried e-ciggs back in 2011 (tried really hard!) and just couldn't get them to satisfy (or keep them from dying!)

I'm sure many will give you advice; the fullness of the hit depends a lot on what head you use and what liquid you use, so those are the place to start! (Liquids, particularly!!!!!)

I'm still looking through info but I think I might go with a Kanger style tank since I should be able to get that and coils from any local B&M shop. I just order VG based juice from Open Source Vapor and hoping that along with the Kanger set up will boost the overall experience without going straight into a custom pipe.

Right now my GF is stoked that I'm quitting analogs but she's also worried that I'm becoming a vape head since she's always catching me lurking in here! Moving into modding will probably freak her out a bit more, but I'll just have to keep reminding her about the total cost of using analogs and just Steam On!

If I'd had to rely on the gear available in 2011 I probably wouldn't have been able to quit cigs either, and when I started vaping last year it was with some truly wretched hardware, but I knew there had to be a better way. There was, and I went through the eGo rigs and the Protank phase, finally ending up with a mech and RBA. This took a good deal of homework and instruction from the great PBusardo, but I found what was fully satisfying for me in about 5 weeks. I'll never light up again.

Welcome! Glad you are giving it another try! Tons of good information here, and great folks! I don't know anything about the pipe types, but am I sure there are a ton of people here who can help with any questions you might have.

Thanks again! I unknowingly chose an epipe that can use both of the standard ego/501 threads so it looks like my options are wide open. I'm thinking of taking the usual KISS approach by visiting a local B&M to check things out in person, I figure the last thing I need right now is frustration and hitting a nearby shop should be a good way to start a local vape relationship at the same time.

Also thanks to the advice here, I got my back-up ecig at the ready and ordered the epipe with a spare tank and coils right off the bat so I should be good!

Lol. My girl was initially supportive when I first started vaping. Taking the health benefits as well as the savings into consideration it was a no brainer. Fast foward 6 months later and it's a whole different story.

She hates it and constantly threatens to throw my gear away and or beat me with it. Once I got into the mods I was hooked in every way. Smoking was a much simpler time. Saving money vs analogs? I wish. Then again after the initial startup costs its only as expensive as you make it.

Kicking the analog habit though is the first and most important step. Where you go and what you do after that is up to you.

Stuff is way better now than back in the day - but some simple things from the past still work extremely well. Have you tried dripping on an lr 510 atty with an Ego cone? If you can get hold of a Vamo or MVP v2 you won't regret it imho. Very flexible to use. Always good to have backups. I've had mixed success with clearomisers but I do like RDAs such as the Octopus and the Igo-l. Very easy to rebuild. Good luck this time around.

If my prior history with obsessions, er...I mean,.....hobbies is any indicator, I'd could see this in my future.
Thankfully these things are a bit cleaner and quieter than chainsaws and some of the other things I've stacked up around here so I think she might be OK with a little extravapeganza.
