California: But stuck in Afghan!
Hello!
I have only been smoking for 4 years, and i feel it is already past due to quit. I have spent the past few years active duty in the US Marines, where every person seemingly has their nicotine fix of choice. Escaping from smoking environments is impossible with a mental habit on top of the physical addictions of nicotine. Anyways, here we go!

Cold Turkey: Worst idea ever. Being a pack a day smoker, all cold turkey did for me was turn the passive caring young man i am into a hate filled irritable monster. I had trouble sleeping over night for the whopping one day i had made it through on my failed attempt at not smoking.

The Gum: I had turned to the gum as a more realistic approach to ending my tobacco intake. I had cut back as much as i could tolerate prior to switching to the gum. I gave the gum a go with confidence, because much like vaping, it aids in the mental habit as far as oral fixation goes, which is the leading part of mental addiction to smoking. a solid week went by, until the smell and social aspect and true mental habits of puffing on burnt leaves grabbed me by the balls, and i had given in to smoking a pack a day, once again.

The Patch: Despite the horrid nightmares, the patch works miracles as far as nicotine cravings. But, unlike the gum, it has no pity on your mental habits of smoking or oral fixations. I stuck out for not smoking for a month on the patch, then weening off the substance didnt seem to work, where i fell back into smoking.

Perscribed CHANTIX: Chantix, is damn near magical. It's an expensive prescription but i had gotten it for free through the military by sitting through some anti-smoking lectures. the prescription makes you feel like you have smoked 3 cigarettes consecutively, without smoking for days. So in other words, they make you feel like S***. Pardon the language, but i felt it is necessary to describe my experience with the pill. A lot of claims state they experience erotic dreams on the prescription, as well as euphoric dreams. For myself and my friend, it was not the case at all. Terrible nightmares is all i got. Made it 2 weeks on the pill before i realized it was driving me insane.

PV-Personal Vaporizer:
Its like it came down from heaven itself! Smoking without smoke! My first E-cig i came across at a 7-11 (you know, the worst ones on the market) For a rip-off 20 bucks..but i was immediately fascinated. I had managed to go 3 days without smoking with that cheap-o thing that i had so much fun with. It seemed like a fun novelty, and it solved all my mental and physical addictions (except the weight difference from vapor and smoke) Until it had broken, where i had thereafter purchased an EGO-T and i knew i was done smoking for good once i had it in my grasps.

in conclusion:
Vaping saved me from my genetic addictive personality from problems i will later have in life. I cant stress enough how much i enjoyed coming across this site and seeing all the activists keeping vaping legal on the market and great political views towards vaping.

Thank you for sharing your personal journey. I am sure it will help all the smokers that come on here that are not yet convinced that this is the only way to go. You have posted the path so many people have taken to get to this point. I will be so thrilled when, instead of pills, doctors point their smoking patients to e-cig instead.

When doctors start prescribing e-cigs and insurance covers them for people wishing to not smoke will be the day. Im 22 years old, and already have overcome severe taste and smell loss due to smoking which over time has recovered without me smoking a pack a day. But theres far too many conspiracies in play for cheap e-cigs to take over expensive anti-smoking prescribable alternatives.
Thanks for the read everyone!

<-- and if you check my join date, Iv'e been lurking about for a minute now haha. I just felt i haven't had the material to be able to contribute until lately.

i completely see eye to eye with you on the matter, along with 99.9 percent of registered users here most likely. But since we are the minority, because more people are either against it or don't care at all about it, it complicates the problem at hand, which is not enough people knowing about or caring to try vaping that currently smoke.
