Welcome to the forum, John! And congratulations on deciding to switch to vaping. Rather than suggest any new equipment, I'm going to suggest you check out the forum's InfoZone, where you'll find excellent FAQ's and general info on ecigs and vaping. Read, read, read. Research, research, research. Check out starter kits from various vendors if you haven't already done so. And don't hesitate to ask questions here! We love answering questions!

You might want to be a bit more specific about what kind of advice you're looking for. Have you started vaping yet?

You came to the right place for information. While there will be plenty of debate on what device/juice you should get (I advise getting an eGo VV, personally), I think you will find that we are all in unison that you should NOT waste your money on any device that looks like a cigarette. As every experienced user here will tell you, the best review you will get on a cigalike is "Meh. It's ok."

I also advise that whatever battery you get has 510 threading, just for the ease of access to a wide variety of products.

Hi everyone! My name is John I'm a new member. Trying to quit cigarette and start vaping. Any advise would be appreciated.

Welcome. If you are looking to buy some vaping hardware (batteries/atomizers/charger/liquid) best to buy a complete kit from a good vendor.

Unless you smoke very little, the smaller shop/mall/gas station e-cigs are not very good.

I'm not in the US (Rochester? sounds great!) and in the UK they are 3 sorts of vendor.

Expensive Mall e-cigs (which I don't like, having failed)
Independent online sales (which charge as much a possible for kits)
Independent online vendors that are recommended by forums. :) These make me happy...!

Hi there Jquadz34 it's so great to have you here. Well, I would suggest a Spinner, actually a Spinner and a Twist, you should really have 2 batteries in case one dies on ya. As for tanks I would say the Kanger protank and/or the Kanger evod- both of these are bottom coil, for a top coil and warmer vapor I would suggest an iclear 16. Those are just what I use but you will find what you like i'm sure. As for juice I would suggest 50/50 pg/vg, that will give you a better throat hit if that's your thing. Your nic level will depend on how much you smoke now. I started with 24mg and am now down to 18. I would start with a higher to double your chances of quitting.

So happy to have you here and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. :D

Welcome. Pretty new here myself. I have vaped on and off for about 6 months, finally found what works for me and about four days analog free and not missing it. Takes a little tweaking sometimes, but I can't think of a better reason than your child. My other half had a heart attack about three years ago and is not supposed to even be around "third-hand" smoke. (He quit himself cold turkey about three months before his heart attack, go figure. lol) So yeah, it makes you think when other people are involved. Took me a while, but now I don't feel like I'M going to have a heart attack from all his .....ing. LOL

Wow 45yrs!!? Yes I'm starting to do my research. Yes, we do have some stores they're a little expensive compare to online ones though. Like vapor joe and discount vapor. Thank for the welcome.

I love my local store. I don't care if I can find something a little cheaper online because:

1. There's no shipping cost
2. I get trustworthy advice about the products
3. I can see and hold the products or taste them, in the case of liquids
4. I'm supporting a local business
5. I know if I'm in a tight spot, I can get something right away instead of waiting for delivery - one very good reason to help keep their business afloat
6. I tasted my first e-cigarette there and I want other people to have that same good experience

Nothing against online sales or bargain hunting. I just think saving money is not always the top priority.

mountain rain directed to a setup like the one we use now. good starter kit, very easy...order juice, it doesn't come with it. also drink lots more water while vaping. we asked how much you smoke so we could advise you on nicotene level...you want to get it high enough to not be craving.
