Update: My IPVmini continued to get worse and worse and by this morning I was having to pull the Battery once every 30 min. or so.. While pulling the Batt. I looked at the threading on the cap and noticed that its chrome coating was worn completely off. This made me wonder about the coating and its current conductivity. Just to see how it worked I placed a piece of Heavy gauge aluminum foil into the bottom of the cap, allowing enough foil overhang to catch the threading and screwed it back in place. It has been over 10 hours and I vaped heavy during the super bowl and no more screen scramble at all. I'm wondering if the board detects conductivity problems and shuts down? It took mine 5 weeks to act up but My batt. cap was undamaged when I bought the device and I've heard others say theirs were bent when received.. I'll keep you guys posted- Dave

Are you possibly running a flat top 18650 batt?

Yeah, there's some funny business with the cap on mine as well when it's being screwed on: I get flashes of the IPV logo on the display when installing the cap. The unit is OFF and stays off but that logo flashes. Maybe not harmful, maybe nothing but it's not cool with me because it takes me a while sometimes getting the cap straight...crappy threads and it keeps doing that. I really hope it's not surging the board while I fumble with the cap.

My cap is wonky too and I perceive problems down the line. Really do not want to charge the battery without removing it but is this what I will be faced with one day? Is that bad to do? I have always heard to not charge these flat top high drains in anythng other than my Nitecore. My screen does flash when putting battery in even though device is off but so foes my Vamo.

I'm really not sure whats "proper" when dealing with the charging on this device. I Just can't understand why they'd produce a device built like a tank and then use a batt. cap that weighs less than a poker chip? Perhaps someone will produce a better cap in after-market-land.

Our mini does the same thing. My other p4y mods do the same thing when the batteries are placed in, well they just light up the logo once because they don't have a janky screw on battery cap.

I just wanted to confirm the ipv mini v1 dose have PWM mode and the ipv mini v2 doesn't have it?

That is correct. v1 has selectable PWM and DC-DC modes. v2 is DC-DC only, and doesn't really step down voltage much (3.6V if you believe the spec sheet), just like ipv2/2S/2X.

It seems most (all?) Yihi chips do this. It happens once when the battery first makes a connection and is normal. If it is flashing, pulsing or happening more than once then people may have a problem.

27hrs and no issues with screen scramble:thumb:. I am very relieved. I will not post again unless the issue returns but the aluminum foil in the bottom cap seems to have fixed the problem. My plan is to only charge through the micro port and never fool with that Janky :censored: - cap again.

Thanks for posting. I just gave your aluminum foil advice to a guy on reddit.

Exactly what battery are you using and how thick is the Wrapper? Is it a Rewrap?(efest/MXJO/etc.)

Maybe try replacing that thin(can super heat) foil with a Dime. :)

Imren 18650 2600mah battery. If it messes up again I will open her back up and try to improve my setup but for now, especially since i'm on the couch with a bum knee, I think I'll let it ride awhile. No warm up on the bottom cap btw..

Just got my IPV Mini today. Really like it. Not as much as my Vaporshark but it is is pretty solid for a Chinese mod. It does what I need it to do. Kinda bummed that P4Y has now went to a true black body on the 30w instead of the gunmetal that it used to be. I really liked the looks of the gunmetal color.

I think the true black looks pretty sharp. Congrats.

I'm using an imren one too and all ok here. Is yours a red one?
