Watts with normal non-tc and joules with tc. Try starting at say 400F and 18J and go up from there. There are many ways of deciding on a final setting so it needs some research to get the best out of it but essentially, for watts read joules in tc mode using yihi based devices!

I was told that because the burning temperature of dry cotton is 490°F It should be kept lower than 479°F

ok, first you wont be vaping on bone-dry cotton. That is for reviewers!! Provided the cotton is damp, you will run out of vapour long before you breathe singed cotton (provided all is working ok, no shorts in the coil, hot legs etc etc).Second, 470F or whatever is not really 470F in absolute terms - at best it is an average derived from the average resistance the mod 'sees'. the apparent temp at which your cotton will burn will depend on atty/build/day of the week etc. The main thing is to make a good build, spaced coils etc, wick it, juice it, set a conservative temp and wattage and vape it. then tweak it to taste. What not to do is to spend hours worrying about whether it is working or not.
This tech does work well.
Be careful but mainly enjoy it!!! Otherwise you may as well just go back to kanthal!

ps. the yihi chips (350J and 330 V4S) are, to my mind, the most user-firndly and foolproof systems for TP vaping presently available. Not to say the DNA40 chips are bad but they need a little bit more finesse to get the best out of them. You are in safe hands!
