no, 100% normal. That means it is fully charged. Any 3.7v batt that is fully charged, reads 4.2x volts on a multimeter. Do not worry about this at all.
is that worse for high drains and regular li-ions alike? if i put my meter in with the +/- terminals and sit there and wait till the batt hits 4.2v dead on will that help or do i have to remove the battery and then check the voltage. are pila chargers worth the extra coin in your opinion? thanx for the help!
Pila's are very reliable. I do not own one. I have an Ultrafire WF188 that reliably terminates at 4.16V. Undercharging is much better for cell life.
Pulling the cell off the charger at 4.20V should be fine. I do not know if metering a battery while charging is accurate. I pull them off.
