is 40% VG too much for a DCT?

I have a dual coil tank setup coming tomorrow, and I just found a flavor that I like enough to put in a tank, but it's 40% VG. I've heard that high VG levels are too thick for tanks, although I saw somewhere that if it doesn't work right you can punch a slightly larger hole in the interior carto to account for the thicker liquid. Any opinions?

I think you should be fine, but it really depends on how thick the juice is. I use PG-free juice in a DCT with a tiny hole, but the juice is quite thin. You are right, if the juice is too thick for the opening in the carto you have two options. Punch another hole/make that one bigger or thin your juice with a bit of distilled water.

I vape 50/50 in a DCT Tank with no problem.

If you have just punch another hole or thin the juice with a small amount of water

Thanks, that's great. I appreciate the fast help. I'll give it a try as is, and then make adjustments if necessary. Am I right in thinking that if it's working, when I draw I should see a few tiny air bubbles from the carto hole?

Yes. I do, but not on every draw. The biggest problem will be if you don't and then have to disassemble it once already filled, not fun.

I use alien visions 100% VG in my tanks. I slot boge cartos and don't have issues.

I've been using Smoktek pre-punched DCT cartos with 50/50 juice without any problems - sometimes you have to take a few 'primer puffs' (without firing) to draw up the liquid but it's not a big deal.

I have found that using a saddle valve to punch Boge LR cartos often results in a flooded carto - even at 50/50. I am steeping some 20/80 juice at the moment to see if that solves the issue...

A follow up:

Smoktek pre-punched DCC (with small hole) - good with all liquids up to 50/50.

Cartos punched with saddle-valve need 25/75 or thicker to avoid flooding/gurgling.

This seems to hold true, regardless of whatever tank or carto I use. A saddle valve punches a hole that is just too big for any liquid of more than 25% PG - it has to be gloopy to avoid flooding.
The Smoktek carto hole seems small enough to use 100%PG without flooding issues.
