Is a 901 better than a 510?

It comes down to personal taste. I started on the 901 and now mainly vape an eGo which is a 510 atty with a cone and a large battery. I also have a 510 that gets used rarely. If I were you I'd look at picking up a battery, cone and charger that can convert your 510 to an eGo...but that is just me :)

I also ordered a riva kit that uses 901 atty's. This is essentially an eGo for the 901. Once i have that I will really be able to compare.

The 901 produces less vapor, without question, but it has more flavor though.

The whole thing comes down to the resistance of the atomizer.
The 510 has much lower resistance, which equals more vapor, and more nicotine inhaled.
The 901 has a much higher resistance, which equals less vapor, but often more flavor.

Neither atomizer lasts any longer as far as I know.
And the battery life differences are probably pretty much negligible.

If you are trying to decide between the two atomizers, decide on vapor or flavor.
You can always get more powerful batteries for either one.

Or just buy an adapter and try a 901 atty on your 510 body...surely this would be the easier option? :)
I have both and prefer the 510, this mean SOLEY tht the 510 is the best atty for ME. The 901 is fine but I found I preferred the flavors the 510 gives me, except on softer flavors where the 901 brings out more. My 901s don't get used very often.
I haven't found the atties are any longer lasting - both seem to be 'luck of the draw' on lifespan.

Not all of us like 5v, and box mods don't suit everyone's needs...

As far as which is "better," they're both quality e-cigs. I agree with DC2's assessment - the 901 produces somewhat less vapor, but more flavor. If you use carts, I find the 901 carts go a bit longer. The 901, to me, also seems to be a softer hit.

Good point. I started with a 901 and found it weak in the areas of throat hit and consistency. But there are some who are not concerned about those things when vaping.

I use both and the lr's also. I just use an adapter. I find that some juices taste better depending on which I'm using. I do think the 901 is a softer hit as Mistress Nomad said in a previous post. I also think the different voltages affect the flavor. I have a variable voltage box mod, the Riva 901 and a Kr808. I just find it depends on the juice.

When I got the 510, the thicker drag and smoke plumes put a big smile on my face. But for some reason the two batts i got don't last long enough for one session. A quicky at work is okay, but a session at home requires a batt change.
Since I got used to small thinner puffs (instead of one long thick one), I'm back to the 901's now, very reliable on atts and batts. And they do taste better. Plus the fact that I got lazy with the manual click-click-clicketty of the 510s. I will probably try the eGo next.
