Is Hookah anything like Vaping?

I just read this article, and it struck me that it sounded like similiar arguments the FDA makes about vaping.

Hookah Smoking Replacing Cigarettes?

I don't know anything about smoking a hookah...so it's actually something I know less about then my new vaping journey,lol.

I love smoking hookah and even though I quit smoking I will still OCCASSIONALLY smoke hookah. It still has carcinogens and is tobacco and everything. You burn sheesha. how bout you do some research on it before you try it out. Ive been using them for years but its only on rare occassions. I maybe use one a couple times a year. usually in the summer

Oh I can't try one out. I doubt there are any places near me that have them. I just found it interesting to see similar language being used, as I have read being used against vaping.

lol its sooooo not even close to vaping let me get that perfectly clear. if anything its worse than cigarettes... the difference is you aren't supposed to smoke it all day everyday. I personally like to use them in respect for the indian culture. I have many friends that are going to school here from India so its a pretty normal thing to smoke a hookah. But its in no way healthier or anything. The notion that its being compared to vaping is ridiculous.

nah the hookah has been around for a very long time over in India and what not... I guess now a days its a cool thing to do in college and feel all cultural and junk I really enjoy them. they are social cus you have to hand the hose around and just talk and puff. its nice.

Ha, back in the 70's i smoked hookah, but it didn't have tobacco in it. I kinda remember red wine instead of water in it and a waterbed mattress on the floor, and Black Sabbath on the 8-Track being in the picture tho...

Oh Clover, Hookah was so crazy back in the 60's and 70's, and yes it was used for tobacco too. Sorry that I made you go 'bah'.

hahaha....They used it in a Disney film.....lol....Alice in Wonderland.....and the FDA is worried about ecigs and kids....I always thought that little device was sooooo cool when I was a wee little one!!! I'd have been more curious to try that over the ecigs as a kid...it looks MUCH cooler and....hey....Disney allows it

How far south are you? There's one hookah bar in Red Bank in central Jersey that I know of, and I'm sure there's more around somewhere.

Although hookah is probably much healthier than other forms of tobacco due to water filtration and the fact that the flavoring is being "semi-vaped" out of the wet glycerin/molasses soaked tobacco, hookah is still very different from vaping, the shisha eventually just burns, and the smoke you're inhaling from the burning charcoal can't be too good for you either. I use to own one that I exclusively smoked shisha out of (no green stuff), very enjoyable, definitely recommend tryin it if you get a chance.

Hookah'd quite a bit in the college days along with other things lol.

Very relaxing, tasty, great social tool. Watermelon was glorious.

I, too, used a hookah in college and it was as bad for me as smoking...different and milder but still bad. I almost got to use one in Egypt but a woman and a hookah is bad mojo because only my husband was allowed to share one with our guide. Rats! Never saw one in India...there I would have been allowed to smoke.

I think the article shows how ignorant people who SHOULD be in the know aren't! That's a crazily structured sentence but it's an even scarier thought

pffoom? something like that. there's a new 'e-cig' on one of the review sites which says it uses tobacco without burning it, and the blurb says it isn't really an e-cig but like a hookah. Which is kinda weird.

Not only weird...almost impossible If you don't burn the tobacco, it remains tobacco and is harmless unless you chew it. Could they be saying they use an ecig-like cartomizer and fluid like the hookah and vaporize the tobacco? That would be an interesting concept but it's still smoking If you run across the review again, katz, would you share it with us?
