Is it a must to torch Kanthal coil?

I always torch my kanthal.

Why? Because I have a torch, it takes 10 seconds to do it, and the coil holds it shape better after doing so. Torching removes a lot of the springiness.

Do you have to do it? Nope. Is it better when you do? Yep.

On standard builds I don't bother.
Twisted 30g on the other hand gets the torch.

ya, it all really depends of what kind of coil and what size kanthal you are using, as to what is easier. I use exclusively that 28 and its a real pain in the .... and I will HAVE to torch it if I don't keep a really taut grip while doing the wraps. I think the bottom line is it's kinda up to the individual to try it both ways to see what is the best for them. It's still a near requirement to have a torch even if you don't use it just in case, you never know how handy those things can be for both E-cigs AND around the house until you have one.
