will this torch work for oxidizing mesh wicks for a rebuildable atomizer? & a couple other questions pertaining to using rebuildable atomizers

ALWAYS check the resistance of the complete coil/wick when using stainless steel mesh BEFORE applying a voltage to it. You want a 'multimeter' (like pictured in the previous post) set to the OHMS (Ω). The easiest way to measure the resistance of the coil/wick is to assemble it on the rba and then place the probes on the positive screw/post and the negative screw/post.
Naw, check your ohms at the atty connector where it will attach to the PV. You ALWAYS want to check the resistance of the complete assembly/path/circuit, not just the coil/wick.

I know about this :p
You check by probing the outside of the atty conection which is your negative and put the other probe on the center post which is your positive.
I know you're replying to TomCatt but I know not to check the resistance at the wick.

I've been using Provaris long before rebuildables became popular. I had 2 of them even before the Lavatubes, and other such tube mods came out. But VV devices, such as the Provari, are, to me a valuable tool when working with rebuildables. In fact, I can't imagine working on them without one. They are multi purpose. Not only am I able to determine resistance; but I can vary the voltage, not only for finding the sweet spot when vaping; but for checking and fine tuning my coils as well. If I were to fire a new coil at whatever voltage I'll probably eventually be vaping it at, the coil would probably pop; especially if there's a hot leg between the top coil wrap and the center post. I'll start out at a very low voltage setting, and gradually bump the voltage up, as I'm fine tuning the coil. If I get a short along the way, the Provari will simply display an error, and I'm doing no damage to the device. Any protected variable voltage device, but especially the Provari, is money well spent, IMO.

Provari is just too exspensive for me. I'm really trying to save money from switching to ecigs not pay more xD
Just the Provari mini is $180. For that price I would rather get a Zmax for just over $100.
The Zmax IMO seems better than LavaTube.

I'm unemployed and I am about to sell all my stuff and move so I need to get an entire PV for under $70. I have found 2 sites that offer a dual kit which is 2 PVs for under $60.
Maybe when I get a job and settle in after the move I can consider getting a nice mod.

Brandon, considering your present situation, It may be wise to go with the eGo setup your using now & add some stuff to that.
I don't want to stick a pin in your balloon, but sometimes these RBA's can run into some extra $$.
Ive been eying the RBA's myself, even purchased a DID clone (Vulcan from SureVapes) & there is some initial expense involved.
I'm fortunate enough to have some disposable income for this, but I may just stay with carto-tanks until I read more about set-ups, on these forums.
The carto-tanks work well and have satisfied my tastes for the last 6 months.
Best of luck to whatever you decide. :2c: :)

Yeah I want to get a genesis style atomizer in the future but what I'm gonna be doing it rebulding Vivi Novas and CE5s using ss mesh and kanthal. It will save me money in the long run.
Cartomizers are just getting to be more trouble than their worth really.
With egos and tanks I know what I'm getting constantly and I rely on myself and make it work the way I want to lol
I have had some cartos burn good and some cartos not burn so good and it's just too much of a gamble and money is being wasted.
I want to get away from cartos period.

Yeah I'm wanting to get away from them.
I have a KR808D-1 kit anyway :p
It's a pain to find the ones I like to bundle them with things on other sites.
I was using KangerTechs cartos but then I noticed these prefilled ones that came with my kit vape so much better since they have a horixontal bottom coil. The others have a horizontal center coil and you don't get as much juice out of them. I also have some vertical coiled ones made by Dekang and they are noisy and don't nearly vaporize as much as the horizontal coiled cartos.
I really don't think I'm getting the full flavor out of these cartos so I'm wasting my time with them lol

Well I'm being told 2 different things
I've been told the Ego and Vision VV batts have short protection. I'm pretty sure I've even read it in descriptions >.>
I plan on getting a multimeter so I can see the ohms before I use it fire it up.
I have chnaged my mind on the RBA and will just use a mesh wick in the Vivi Nova or CE5 for now.
I don't really see how I could short it out since all you have to do is make sure you oxidize the wick thoroughly, do some liquid burns make sure the coils are spaced well, make sure the negative and positive are insulated from each other. I don't see how I could short anything as long as it is done right...right? o_O

...It's possible to use an RBA on an eGo. But, to jump in with a genesis-style RBA, as a first-timer, and stick it on an eGo, it's a recipe for disaster, imho. I've blown an eGo, and I wasn't new to rebuildables when that happened. With RBA's there's no such thing as "getting it right", at least not permanently. Shorts come and go as they please, and sometimes the perfect set-up will get bumped and be a complete mess, and you'll have no idea that the next time you fire your eGo, it'll refuse to turn off and destroy itself.

Going the cheap route is possible with RBA's, but eGo batteries and RBA's don't mix. In fact, eGo disposables aren't really cheap anyway- what you could do is go for a chinese VV mod or even a non-VV tube mod, stay within your $70 budget, and then you never need to replace the whole battery section ever again... ;)

i've had many shorts when i started rebuiling my vivi. ego batteries ( i use joyetech ) do have a short protection. i can confirm that because if the coils resistance is to low or is shorting the battery will just flash and wont fire. never used a proper genesis. but i just got 2 AGA atomizers and im expecting them shortly. i have bulid my vivi so many times and never fried a battery even with short or low resistance. just want to point out that im using joyetech batteries. dunno about other types though
