Is it all worth it?

Hi all,

We’ve got a small E-Cig from Intellicig. We bought it hoping that we could bring the cost of smoking down and save some money. My boyfriend smokes roughly 7-10 normal cigarettes a day so this seemed an ideal solution. It’s a bonus if it helps his health too.

Could someone please advise on the following?

The battery life….
Intellicig’s instructions state to replace/recharge battery when the indicator flashes for 10 times and then elsewhere in the manual it says the same when it flashes 30 times….! Does anyone know which is true? Does the indicator light show a certain colour when it’s dead?
It also states that the battery can be charged about 300 times. Well, we’ve got two batterys and after just two weeks, both are dead. This seems poor.

The Atomiser…
Do the atomizers need cleaning regularily? How often? Intellicig quote that the atomizer lasts 6000 inhalations.

Although my boyfriend didn’t smoke that many real ciggy’s he does vape more.
He gets frustrated by the E-Cig, like just this morning he put a fully charged battery on and tried to vape but got nothing. The indicator light didn’t light. He had to really inhale hard and covered the holes to get it going. Why is this?

Is it just that this Intellicig unit is not great? Would it be worth us buying a different model?

Sorry for so many questions, but I’d greatly appreciate any help.:)

Hi,
I'm an Intellicig user and I'm really sorry to hear of your problems. You should email them about this - I've found their customer service very helpful, and they replaced a faulty atomiser for me without a quibble.
I'm a great believer in adding a drop of glycerine to a cartridge - this gives you much more vapour. I charge batteries the minute they seem to be getting "weak" (cartridge is not empty but little vapour) - this seems to help. Also I give them a long charge of about 8 hrs when new.
As I say I'd contact Intellicig. They're very friendly and helpful.

Sorry - forgot a couple of things. I haven't cleaned my atomisers at all other than to check for loose fibres from cartridges which can sometimes stick to the little hoop on the end. There are loads of posts on this forum about cleaning, batteries and the other issues you raise, though. It's worth using the "search" tool. I wouldn't be without my Intellicig and hope that you resolve your problems.

Just saw your second email. Yes - I have 5 batteries and two chargers and always rotate them. I started a couple of weeks ago and the original 2 batteries are still going strong. I also top up with Totally Wicked but find that adding the glycerine provides more vapour and makes the carts/liquid last longer. Glycerine is also very cheap!

What an excellent tip!

For some reason, I had lousy performance with both my penstyles since yesterday evening and adding just a drop of glycerine (Super Cook) gives much better vapour!

54 pence at Tesco's truly is cheap ;)

Thats the same stuff i bought aswell! although aint had a chance to try it yet (still waiting for the delivery from e-cig.co.uk.. hope it hurrys up!)

kate posted a like to 200ml of glycerine for £3 on ebay i think, but if you work it out 5 x 38ml (super cook glycerine) = 190ml for £2.70 Bargain! and you can pick it up when doing your shopping!
also we know its safe for consumption as its in the baking isle! lol

I just wanted to post an update on this thread.

I emailed Intellicig with the problems regarding battery problems and the gentleman there called me back. He spoke at length to my boyfriend to help us determine if we were doing something wrong, or if we had been unlucky enough to receive a faulty item. The conclusion was that it appears we are doing everything right and that perhaps we have a dud battery. A FOC replacement is being sent. :)

I just like to say that I thought the customer service and advice from Intellicig was superb.:D

welcome to the perfecting world of e cigs.. we chuck our batteries after around two weeks and our atomizers as well.. we consider this par for the course for heavy users..

used properly and discharged within design specifications a lithium cell can be recharged 300 times.. but..

this applies to all mini cig type batteries.. they are not used within design specifications they are abused.. they are being discharged at a far higher rate than they should be..

this is all to do with the makers trying to make them cigarette sized.. the batteries used to power them quite simply are not up to the job they have to do..

they wear out very quickly.. the 300 recharge factor is utter nonsense.. it wont happen..

so to directly answer your question.. it is worth it.. yes but know something about the realities of what u are buying..

atomizer are disposable item and so are batteries..
