Is it best to remove the wick out of your 510 atties?

Greetings,

You are going to have some people saying to not do it. I happen to disagree. I can't stand to leave the wicks in. There is a harsh taste that seems to come with the wicks for me.

I have been removing the wicks from all of my atties for about five months now and am very happy with the results. They work for great for dripping. I have also used them on carts, and they worked fine.

Atties are cheap, go ahead and remove the wicks from one and see what you think.

Does it affect the life of the atty? Got me. I use predominately LR 510's and they seem to last about a month.

Regards
Jim

Dripping is the one important factor... by removing the bridge and or wick will drastically minimize the effect of using a cart (even though not always effective in itself)..that is probably the only thing that isn't subjective with doing this task.

I too watched that video and was wondering the same thing. Yesterday I started the thread about being an atti killer.

As I read through this thread it occurs to me that an atomize that is specifically used for dripping would be a wonderful thing. It seems that a lot of our problems with atties are caused by all that garbage they have to put in there to pull the juice down from the carts.

I removed my wick on a burnt atty about 3 days ago. The fibers were burnt on one end. Left the bridge in.

Now I drip onto the bridge, 2 drops, and vape away with a CartoCondom tip over the atty. Little hole in the middle of the CartoCondom allows me to stick my bottle tip in and squeeze off 2 bubbles in the bottle. Massive flavor and little mess.

I now always remove wick & bridge,i was hesatent at 1st but much better no burnt crap taste. This way i beleive you can keep attys pretty clean by vapping all juice in the atty. When you have a wick it does get a burnt taste, also more apt to hold old flavors with wick.Don't use cart for attys thogh only drip! When i don't drip i use cartos best of both worlds!

I hope you get a bunch of meaningful replies, because I didn't when I started this thread...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/109739-drippers-remove-bridge.html

My personal opinion, until changed, is that removing the bridge and wick does not avoid the burnt taste.
Only keeping the right amount of juice in the atomizer eliminates the burnt taste.

But if you have an atomizer that continues to taste burnt, no matter what you do, removing the wick and bridge probably helps.

But I still think this works just as good without ruining your atomizer, until convinced otherwise...

So for now, I'm going to suggest a good dry burn session instead of deforming your atomizer.

I only remove them if they constantly taste burnt. Sometimes.they can even trap the burnt flavor. I find that soaking in peroxide is good at neutralizing the burnt flavor, the wicks even look whiter afterwards. But if the problem persists just yank em out your not gonna hurt anything unless you use carts.
