Is it hard to use a manual PV while driving?

I bought a manual because the brick and mortar store only sells manual. The owner said that automatic ones weren't good so he won't sell them. The other reason for getting a manual was what I've read on ECF. I haven't attempted to drive and use it yet. Traffic where I live is the pits and it makes me nervous so I'm a little scared to try to use a manual. Has anyone else had this problem or do you find the manual not to be a problem when driving. I don't generally light a cigarette when I'm actually driving. I either light one when I first get into the car or light one at a stop light.

Hey Dede,
I personally don't like automatics much...I use the manual all the time when driving and it's not a problem. Pushing the button on most models isn't much of an issue. Just don't attempt dripping & driving!
Then again, when I was smoking I could light up while going 60mph...never a problem. It just takes practice!:vapor:

I think that if you are OK smoking an analog while driving, you will be OK to use your manual. I don't think it took me more than 2 minutes to get used to the button. My concern was loosing the e-cig in the car, then I saw a tip on using a pen holder (see "Easy Car Mount" by Snowblind258 in Tips and Tricks) and that took care of that!

You can't hold most ecigs with just your mouth anyway so you are going to need a hand holding it. Pressing the button is not going to be that big a difference from just holding it.

I think the main thing is to have an easy to find place where you can set it down - a easy to reach pocket or somewhere so you don't have to dig for it and it won't end up rolling around the floor of the car. Or an ecig lanyard would work.

Don't try to drip or refill while driving though. Cartomizers are good for driving.

And re manuals... press 1/2 too 1.5 seconds before the start of your drag (the longer amount if the atty is cold) and you can let up the button 1+ seconds before the end of your drag since there is vapor sitting in there.

I use an automatic V4L (Vapor King, aka Vapor4Life) pass through in my auto, and it's great. Pass throughs (this one has a cig lighter adapter on it) use 5 volts and pack a punch when vaping. Unless driving, I stick to manual batteries or use a manual pass through (PT) at my computer. I don't want to be looking for a button while I drive. The auto PT works great for me.

I absolutely loathe automatic batteries! Driving with a manual battery is a piece of cake! I think it's even easier that when I was digging around for a lighter and trying to light a cigarette! At least now if I drop it, it won't burn my seats or carpet and if I'm using my PT, the cord is a mighty handy retrieval system!

I'm surprised people are saying anything negative about an auto PT at all. It works really well for me. One primer puff, it rocks as well as my manual PT, and yes, sometimes finding the button is sometimes a little distracting, for me at least.

I prefer manuals too, but when driving, I prefer the auto PT. Maybe I'm just the cautious sort, but then again, I haven't had an accident in 40 years, or for that matter, a speeding ticket. And yes, LOL.... I don't drive very fast! I'm a speed limit + 8% driver.

I personally use a lanyard for my PV, and the button is ALWAYS in the same place when I grab it off of my chest. The lanyard I use has one of those little plastic pieces on the end that are used for peoples glasses. You'll be amazed at how far those little things will stretch, I started using it with my 510, now I have an ego and it fits over that very well, it won't fit the 510 anymore though. Maybe you could go to a CVS or something and get a glasses lanyard and use that for your PV, then it will always be in the same place, and the button is always in the same place, and after using a manual button, I wouldnt go back to an automatic for anything, besides the whole battery dying thing from juice, they just don't perform as well, don't give me as much vapor, and I VAPE ALOT (6-10 ml per day), try a lanyard, and it will become second nature! But I've driven ALOT as well. I used to drive a Semi for a living, and I would be juggling lighter/smokes/coffee/last fm radio/ shifting and driving, sometimes all at the same time. And I barely ever hit anything in my big truck :) (I did nudge a "Jersey barrier" once in PA, doing 70+ that was scary!) but other then that, no wrecks!
Practice, practice, practice!
Good luck!
