Hey all.. :) New member, first post, long time lurker (of course LOL) :2cool:
Ive dabbled with vaping off and on for awhile using a victory egic setup, and bailed on it for various reasons. Finally decided to give it a real shot n get off the cigs for good, so I picked up an EVOD kit from a local brick n mortar and am very happy with the kit (fantastic setup vs. the price), and fairly satisfied, but it seems I STILL have the darn cig want. Only hits me with my morning cuppa, and after meals. :( Just seems like somethings missing.
On the plus side, I've gone from a pack a day, to a pack a week, which is HUGE for me.. Smoked for over 25yrs.. Put em down for 9 months a few yrs back, and after going thru some really trying things fell right back into it headfirst.. Hated myself for it..

Anyhoo.. Is it me, or do I just need to give it time for the transition to evolve over time?? Ill say this.. It's turned me into a chain vaper.. LOL Can't seem to put the thing down..:vapor:

Advice, comments, questions?? :)

I smoked for 2 weeks when I first started vaping just to finish up a carton of cigarettes I had purchased while waiting on my starter kit. It's not uncommon for most new vaper's to smoke while vaping when starting out and the length of time to do so is set by you. You have already diminished the number of smokes tremendously and that's great!

I too chain vaped in the beginning. Nicotine is delivered slower via vaping so it takes longer for the nic to absorb than with the traditional smoke which is one of the reasons one will vape alot. Don't be too concerned about it. Most of us have done it. It will slow down later on.

Congrats on trying it again and you'll do fine. Happy Vaping! :vapor:

It's hard to say if you are just one of those that needs time, or if something about your setup is hindering you. What level eliquid are you using? You might need to go higher?

Some people use WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid) liquids or add ins. I've never needed those, so I don't know much about them except that they have more of the tobacco alkaloids that are usually purified out of the nicotine base in liquids.

Is your evod kit variable voltage? Some people are more satisfied with higher power vaping, and a variable voltage of variable wattage will allow you to experiment with that.

Another option to think about is snus. Snus has been used for harm reduction in Sweden for many years. Sweden, though it has a high rate of tobacco use, has the lowest incidence of lung cancer in Europe (among men, at least, who are more likely to use snus than women). I use snus sometimes when I can't vape for long periods. It takes some getting used to, but it can provide some of those compounds that ecigs don't, with the added benefit that you are not inhaling anything.

Make sure your nic content is high enough. I smoked 2+ PPD and started at 24mg juice. I believe if it wasn't for the high nic content, I would have not been able to quit. It was enough to curb those cravings and I dropped the analogs immediately and haven't wanted one since. The morning cup and meals were not a factor and those were the fave cig times. You may want to look at that more closely. I still chain vape at times and carry my setup with everywhere. When I feel the need, I hit it a few times and put it away. Once you find your sweet spot, it will almost be effortless. Good luck and welcome out of the shadows!

Try a WTA liquid. It means Whole Tobacco Alkaloid. Nicotine is just one alkaloid in tobacco, and these liquids pick up the others. It may be that missing element. It's helped a lot of people give up that last daily cig they still need.

There are two vendors that I know of who make it:
Whole Tobacco Alkaloid WTA Eliquid Ejuice
WholeCig (this is the one I use)

It's more expensive than regular e-liquids, but you don't need to use much to get that missing 'something'. I use about 1ml a day of it and chain vape my other liquids the rest of the day. Some people just add a bit of unflavored to every tank.

Or try snus. Make sure they are Swedish and not American.

I have to agree with the others about nicotine level. I smoked 1 to 1 1/2 packs a day for 29 years and after my first vape I haven't touched them again. The first eliquid I got was 36mg and I realllly think that played a huge role in making it so easy.

I've only been vaping a little over 2 weeks but I'm already on 18 and 12 eliquid and I ordered some 0 nicotine to cut with the 2 bottles of 36mg I have left.

I'd suggest maybe getting a bottle of 24 or even 36 to keep in a tank for those times you're having trouble with like after meals.

No matter what you're doing great. Give it all the time you need and don't give up. You'll get there =)

I honestly couldn't tell you. When I first switched over, I used a Mistic Ecig, which were pretty close, quality wise, to blu. Never tried Victory, but I'm sure the experience was similar. I craved cigarettes pretty bad, but I refused to smoke one for two full weeks before I broke down and picked up my favorite pack on analogs. It was one of the ones with menthol beads in the filter. I took two drags, one without crushing the bead, and one with the bead crushed. Hated the flavor of both. Flicked the analog away without finishing it, chucked the pack, and never looked back.

Just for me... They are two hot times. Non-vaping (ANTZ) people tell me, "well, what is the difference between vaping and the patch? The patch doesn't let me have the morning moment. It doesn't let me have the after-meal moment. Vaping, with nic, lets me have that physical action in similarity to smoking while I lower my nic level. That physical action is very important to a smoker (me). I have lowered my nic, but I have also put my PV off to the side where my eyes don't see it. I just follow my urges, but I do try to manipulate my urges where I can.

Water vapor is exponentially larger than smoke, so vapor can not get into your lung and be absorbed like smoke can. However vapor can be absorbed by your mouth and nose, so holding it in your mouth for a second and exhaling through your nose has shown to improve nic absorption. Also a cigarette sends nic to the brain in a couple seconds where vapor takes closer to 30 seconds to build up a good level.

You can't vape like you smoke. Hope that helps

I have been smoke free vaping for about 3 months and cigs are starting to smell like dirty ash trays to me.

Don't worry about having to put it down, that will come. I started with a stronger nic so that I mentally new I was getting enough nicotine. Then it was no cigs. Since I got my gear (back-ups, etc.) before, it was "one day I smoked, next day I vaped.

I do recommend a complete spare system for the car, maybe an eGo-style. You have a respectable system, don't spend your money unwisely.

It took me 1 year of smoking and vaping together to finally switch, the thing for me was the ceremony of smoking (pull the pack out grab the lighter return the pack to my pocket light the smoke then put away the lighter) that was what I missed with vaping so instead of tanks I got into dripping I grab the mod pull the bottle from my pocket drip some juice close the bottle put it back in my pocket and vape

This was true for me as well. I started with Blu for a couple of days, and realized I needed better equipment. I got the Evod starter kit which was great! I was a 2 pack a day smoker for years and years and had 18 mg. at first. It worked, but just barely. I had vague, anxious feelings but vaped through them and didn't smoke.

When I got some 24 mg. the difference was like night and day. I felt comfortable immediately and no urges to smoke, even in the morning and after meals.

I know it is probably psychological (a lot of our smoking habit is, lol), but I got some Cinnamon Roll juice for my morning routine to vape with my coffee, and it seemed to help to have it when I first got up.

You're doing great, and just keep on doing what you're doing. Maybe up your nic content a bit and see if that helps with those special times you're having some trouble.:)

Transitioning to vaping from cigarettes went pretty seamlessly for me, though I know not everyone is so lucky. For the first week or so, I did think about a cigarette after a good meal, glass of wine, etc., but those urges subsided pretty quickly once I realized I could have a much tastier vape after a meal instead of nasty tobacco smoke/tar.

If you're still having trouble with it, maybe consider picking up a juice that you really enjoy, only step it up a notch on the nicotine level. Keep an atty around with that juice for just those moments when the urge is the strongest, then step the nicotine back down for your normal vaping routine. In time, I think you'll find the cigarette urges dissipate greatly... though you'll still have the urges for the after-dinner vape!

I have to agree on the part about the physical action being important. The "smoking ritual" is what I probably enjoyed the most. Having something in my hand and going thru all the maneuvers required. Kind of silly I guess but there you go! I have a couple rigs set up with 0 nic and different flavors just to have around while watching the tube or reading this forum so I have the actual "action" going on. And, having it off to the side just doesn't work --- I find it!!!

Everyone is different I guess - I still have weak moments where I really want a smoke. I just vape harder when this happens.

I find using a variable voltage/wattage device can help with "oh crap" moments. I usually vape around 8 watts but upping this to 11 watts gets me through some bad moments.

Higher nicotine levels may help, I lowered as I was chain vaping - so I started to feel ill and dropped from 24 to 18 in the first couple of weeks.

What works for me may not work for you, though. As mentioned, lung inhalation doesn't really do much apart from satisfy the old habit. Holding in the mouth and short inhale and exhale through the nose will allow more nicotine into your system (least from what I can tell) This helps me in moments of weakness too.

All I'll say really is stick with it, eventually you work out what works for you, and what works for you is win win. Congratulations on joining the forums, for cutting down, and for vaping. You are on the right track :)
