I was lucky in that my decision to quit coincided with the first of two polar votex events and nothing was going to get me out of the house in that cold--not even a need for a cig. I actually used Green Smoke for the first one and by the 2nd was using a vv3. What actually did it for me is that I fell in love with e-juice--much more so than the icky taste of cigs. So I never wanted to go back. I started with 12 mg nicotine because I read somewhere (maybe on the forum) that if you smoked "lights" that was the place to start. I was fine with the 12 and had "mind cravings," but not nicotine cravings. I recently dropped down to 6 mg, but have 12 available just in case. I would like to get to zero nic at some point, but I don't think I will stop vaping. BTW, I am 70 (headed for 71 in a couple of months) and was smoking almost 2 packs a day of Virginia Slim Lights when I decided I was burning up money and I was sick and tired of the stink. Just goes to show that with the right incentive, any one of any age can quit, even after many failed attempts over the years with gum and patches and so forth.

OHHH Yeah.. I remember those storms WELL.. Not to mention the aching back as well.. :) I can definitely relate to loving the taste compared to cigs.. I sure do notice the stench now.. One thing to note is that I havent smoked indoors in years. Hated how it made the whole house smell, so outside I went.
My brand o choice was/is Marlb smooths. pack to pack n half a day.
I had grabbed a Victory Ecig kit on a deal, and that ended up being a GIANT fiasco. Needless to say I ended up with a refill from them no charge after being signed up and charged when I hadn't signed up for it, and doing the runaround with them over it. Nor was i the only one. That whole episode turned me off on them right quick, but I still used it on occasion. I'd been toying around with the idea of refilling the carts and found a way to do it so I had a bud grab me some juice from a local supplier and gave it a whirl. GAHHH.. LOL The taste was horrid, and I thought it was from mixing. SOOO went back myself n got the EVOD kit and tried again and realized it was the juice i had gotten. Went back AGAIN n hit the tasting bar n found 2 i really like along with another spare EVOD tank and have been using them ever since.

On a side note, I read both of your threads regarding the vv3 and that whole episode (my god LOL), and your being gifted the provari.. Have to admit it was a heartwarming read. :) Just like in the astronomy circle (of which I'm a member) its a tight knit group that bands together to help one of their own in need..
Eventually a provaris in my future. But for now, I'll run my EVODs into the ground.. :D

I know for myself, when I first tried vaping 6 or 7 years ago, the technology and the juices just werent there for me. Tried again a few times off and on, and I think mostly because i was going bargin basement disposables nothing ever caught with me. My Uncle who has been vaping a few years now, got me a Halo Triton starter kit for Christmas and a nice assortment of their high nic juices. That seems to have done it, was half cig and half vaping for a month and have been totally on vapor the last 2 months.

I had to retrain myself from the "step outside for a minute and make the most of a few minutes before it burns out" to "wait for the coil to re saturate and there is no more 4 minute timer". It has been a stress relief just to get released from the "stop everything and run out and be on the 4 minute timer".!

They are a great group of people (no matter what the haters may say). I would never have gotten a Provari if it hadn't been for them--heck I didn't even know what they were at that point. But I love mine and treasure it even more since it was one of those things that almost never happens in life. I hope you will get one before too long. You will love it. So easy to use and a great vape!

Hey all.. :) New member, first post, long time lurker (of course LOL) :2cool:
Ive dabbled with vaping off and on for awhile using a victory egic setup, and bailed on it for various reasons. Finally decided to give it a real shot n get off the cigs for good, so I picked up an EVOD kit from a local brick n mortar and am very happy with the kit (fantastic setup vs. the price), and fairly satisfied, but it seems I STILL have the darn cig want. Only hits me with my morning cuppa, and after meals. :( Just seems like somethings missing.
On the plus side, I've gone from a pack a day, to a pack a week, which is HUGE for me.. Smoked for over 25yrs.. Put em down for 9 months a few yrs back, and after going thru some really trying things fell right back into it headfirst.. Hated myself for it..

Anyhoo.. Is it me, or do I just need to give it time for the transition to evolve over time?? Ill say this.. It's turned me into a chain vaper.. LOL Can't seem to put the thing down..:vapor:

Advice, comments, questions?? :)
The most difficult part for me to get past when transitioning to E-cigs was the lack of other crap from actual cigarettes. It's not a matter of delusion, smoking affects you in many ways, most notably is the drunken feeling during or after a smoke. There is a fair amount of CO and CO2 inhaled. CO2 is the lesser of the two evils since it only cuts back the amount of O2 being inhaled by replacement. CO however is the ugly one, it binds with the hemoglobin and can reside in your blood cells for a significantly longer period essentially inhibiting blood cells to carry O2 resulting in that drunken feeling. Another effect of CO intake is your body know's it's oxygen level, continued smoking results in diminished O2 uptake essentially starving your body for Oxygen, your body combats this with an increased production of red blood cells resulting in a condition known as Smokers Polycythemia, or thick blood. This can result in high blood pressure as well as increased susceptibility to strokes. While I enjoyed the occasional drunken feeling after a smoke, realizing the numerous side effects outside of emphysema and potential cancer risks caused me to look for an alternative. I after all enjoy the act of smoking but the risks were too high when there was an alternative with lesser harms, all it took was some getting used to.

Just for me... They are two hot times. Non-vaping (ANTZ) people tell me, "well, what is the difference between vaping and the patch? The patch doesn't let me have the morning moment. It doesn't let me have the after-meal moment. Vaping, with nic, lets me have that physical action in similarity to smoking while I lower my nic level. That physical action is very important to a smoker (me). I have lowered my nic, but I have also put my PV off to the side where my eyes don't see it. I just follow my urges, but I do try to manipulate my urges where I can.
I agree, those moments are the most crucial whether a person is trying to stop smoking period or move to an alternative. It's a built in time that we have set aside for so long that it becomes a psychological fix, not only do we need the smoke/vape but we also need to have that moment.

quick update on things. :) First off, analog free for a week.. Turns out it WAS my technique.. Thats fixed.. :D
After doing a TON of reading I realised I really wanted an upgrade from the batts im using. SOOOO ordered a pair of the ego MAXX vv/vw 1300mAh batts from fastech. Yeah, I know.. Gonna take forever to get here, but i figured its a great way to delve in the variable arena n see what works better with the juices im using. Plus I like the form factor of them. If they last great. If not, its covered by my former cost of almost 9 a day.. LOL

What I really want eventually is a nice VV/VW mod. But then theres batteries to buy along with the charger for em. (more cash layout) Theres so many to choose from my heads spinning. Plus every thread I read on one I'd consider seems to have lots of peeps with problems with them. Then again, its no surprise, given where all this stuff comes from (provari aside). Would anyone be willing to help a guy out with this?? I'm not a fan of the box types (MPV2) even though it has all the features I like/need. I'm also not a huge fan of telescoping types either. But if i see one whose design matches my taste id surely consider it. Fire away folks. :)

BTW, thanks for all the replies and sage advice. meant a lot to a budding vaper. Almost a month on it and do enjoy the heck out of it. :D
