Is it necessary to inhale?

Noob here. In one of my handful of threads, an experienced member mentioned that most of the nic in vaping is absorbed in the mouth and nose, not the lungs. Well, I think that's true for smokes too, since cigar smokers are definitely getting plenty of nic. I like inhaling cigarettes, but I get cotton mouth pretty quick inhaling juice, and something about inhaling I think is robbing it of the flavor.

Tonight, I'm struggling through some Dekang juices I bought and don't really care for, but they're what I have. The strawberry isn't bad. After awhile, I stopped inhaling it all the way down my lungs. Just a little way into my throat and then out through the nose. Obviously, I can vape a whole lot more in a lot less time that way. MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE! After awhile, this really juicy taste built in the roof of my mouth, intense strawberry, sweet and ripe and really nice. My favorite vape session so far!

But I am addicted to Nic, and I don't want to burn 10ml of the stuff a day to get the same nic I can get by fully inhaling 2ml. juice is cheaper than cigs, but not at 10ml a day. Besides the health benefits, I do want to quit the $8/day habit too.

So what say you Vets? Inhale, which seems to have less flavor and dries me out, or puff away and get more flavor and less cotton mouth?

I think that the best answer here is: Whatever works for you.

Some people that smoked heavily and then switched to vaping, started on 12mg liquid and it worked fine for them. Others started on 24-36mg (Which I'm not recommending or endorsing btw) and that's what it took to get them off analogs. I started on 18mg about a year ago, now I'm down to 10mg.

If you're getting cotton mouth, and it's rivaling or feeling similar to how it was when you smoked, then I'd suggest that you're probably not drinking enough water. When I say water, I'm not talking about coffee or coke, I mean water/vitamin water/gatorade, that sort of thing. I can always tell when I'm getting dehydrated, my flavors stop tasting so good.

One more thing that I wanted to touch on. Your equipment has a very powerful effect on how your flavors come across. If you're using a cartomizer vs dripping into an atty, or if you've got some sort of rebuildable, they'll all taste different. I rarely use anything other than my rebuildable anymore, they just don't transfer the flavor as well to my tastebuds.

Whatever method you are using is working, if it means you do not experience cravings for a cigarette. You don't say what liquid strength you're using. If you don't experience cravings, and you don't find your vaping has increased a lot and you are now using a lot more liquid, then it must be working.

If you are vaping more, or if you have cravings now when just using the mouth/nose method, try increasing the nicotine strength.

From a personal point of view, it would be preferable to consume more nicotine if it meant no inhalation.

We know that for most people, long-term responsible nicotine consumption is statistically unlikely to have any significant health effects (though individuals must take account of their own personal circumstances); but we don't have any long-term data on inhalation of flavored mists. So on the strength of the data we have, it is preferable to consume nicotine ad lib orally rather than inhale any materials, since we do know that ad lib oral consumption of nicotine over decades has very low risk. The risks may be the same for both but we don't know that.
