Hi,
To a point it is. Its your body trying to get rid of the crap out of your lungs and as for the throat, you need to drink more water and try a little diff liquid. If you use mainly PG, try some with 50%PG and 50% VG. This might help or all VG.
I had the same problems but I just deal with it myself. I cough up a lot of the tar from my lungs and my throat gets a bit sore, I just drink cool water, not cold or warm. Sometimes I will have ice cream but wait b4 vaping to cool off my throat.
I'm sure others will chime in with their views too.
Good Luck! =)

Hi--just my experience.....I "transitioned" from analogs over about 2-3 months, so I just kept feeling better and better (easier breathing, throat opening up {I sing}, less and less coughing. By the time I was completely on vaping, it didn't take too long to feel great!

All I can say is-----stick with it, because it's SO worth it.

Drinking lots is great but make sure youre actually drinking it WHILE you vape - both PG aand VG are humectants and draw water to themselves from their surroundings - that includes YOU if you are a vaper.
If youre not ...... like a racehorse then you arent drinking enough  - it does settle down and I agree a PG/VG mix helps smooth things a little on the throat but perseverence should see you right.

The thing that jumps out at me is where you say your "lungs feel a little tight". I'm NOT saying that this is the case with YOU, but some (few) people are sensitive to PG, and can experience a little shortness of breath (feeling winded, or breathing heavily). It can also make some area of your skin a little red and itchy (for me it was the skin on my upper chest). If I vape liquid with 60% or less PG, I feel fine.

Some are also sensitive to VG, but I believe it is more rare and the symptoms are different.

You don't need to mix your own, but that's something worth getting into later for it's own sake. Many vendors allow you to specify PG/VG ratios during checkout, tastyvapor.us is one. Hopefully some others will chime in with their own favorites. There are also plenty of vendors that sell VG-only juice, like cignot.com. Bear in mind that "PG = Throat Hit, and VG = vapor". By that I mean the more PG, the more of that "harsh" feeling you feel in your throat. VG has a lot less TH, but puts out more and thicker vapor. Too much VG can also leave a "waxy" feeling in your mouth that some people really hate (after a few days you hardly notice it). In my opinion, finding the right PG/VG balance for YOU is almost as important as finding the right level of nicotine.
