I read a few threads about storing e-liquid, but they were all lumped together and seemed to be talking about pre-mixed me-liquid and non-nicotine flavors. But I am primarily concerned with the unflavored nicotine liquid.

It obviously comes in PG and VG, and VG is thicker, so it would probably be harder to freeze, but PG is alcohol so maybe it takes a higher temp to freeze it(?) Either way, can you freeze one or both PG or VG nicotine liquids, and will it bream down or damage the nicotine content in any way, or will it dramatically increase its usable lifespan?

Next: I have read that some flavors or e-liquid will "age" and taste better after sitting for a while. That probably means they also have a lifespan, and will go bad at some point. But when reading the posts about storage of flavored e-liquid, the posts are all over the map as far as opinions about refrigerating being a bad thing or a good thing.

^ Well, how about freezing flavored e-liquids?

I just started this e-cig thing yesterday, so I'm behind the curve here, and I just read the thread about the gov't and tobacco companies/pharma companies wanting to shut down e-cigs cause they are losing money, so I am looking to find reliable means to store both unflavored nicotine liquid and flavored e-liquids and non nicotine flavors. The nicotine liquid is going to be the big issue. Thats what they are going to want to ban, so thats the thing to stock up on and store.

I would imagine that flavors will still be available to some degree even after a nicotine ban, but you could also make your own. Its the nicotine that will be a problem to get, but its pretty cheap now at a few places, so can it be stocked up/frozen for future years? PG or VG?

pg and vg based nicotine does not freeze solid(and whatever gave you the idea that pg is alcohol?). it is the best long term storage method for storing nic. it will last at least 2 years in this state(it could possibly be many many years longer than this, don't know of many people that have stored nic for that long).

as far as flavored e-liquids...do not store them in the fridge or freezer. e-liquid generally have a lifespan of a year or so if pg based and considerably less if vg

and for your question about flavorings...that is the one thing you do not ever have to worry about, those are for food and will always be available

Don't take this for gospel, but this is what I know.

"Steeping" is primarily for flavors that use alcohol based concentrates. The juice tends to taste better
after the alcohol has had time to evaporate out of the juice. Some thicker juices ( VG mixes ) also
need a little time to fully blend together.

Shelf life for PG/VG is supposed to be 2 years. Nic juice should always be stored in a cool, dark place.
Nicotine is UV( sunlight ) sensitive. If exposed, it will start to change from clear to yellow or amber in
color, and IMO, will taste slightly different. If you are just going to store for a few months, most people
just store the juice in the fridge in whatever bottles it came in.

If you are going to store large amounts for long term, it is best to store in an amber glass bottle
in the fridge. Freezing it not necessary. I am not even sure anything with PG in it would freeze.

Will the FDA ever shut down e-cigs? Not likely. In the time since I started vaping ( little over 2 years ),
they have pulled several stunts to shut down e-cigs, including confiscating shipments. The courts slapped
them down every time for "over stepping their authority". E-cigs have become more and more main stream
with even some legitimate testing starting to happen. At worst, they will probably push for more regulation
and taxing so that they become as expensive as tobacco ( Uncle Sam will want his cut to make up for what
they will be losing in tobacco sales ). Even the "vape anywhere" battle cry is fading away as more and more
civil authorities are lumping e-cigs under the public smoking bans.

Just wanted to jump in rather than start another post of bascially the same thing. I buy my DIY supples and I order the nic in a vg base. Would it be okay to put the vg with nic in the refridgerator , or should I put it in the freezer.
The weather here has been god awful hot and humid and I worry about my juices, can they be put in the fridge?

Put that puppy right in the deep freeze, I would store it in a glass bottle and leave about a 1/2" from the top, you can even tape the lid or shrink seal it if you have that stuff, if not that's fine too, but freeze away, and dont worry it wont fully freeze and the bottle will not break. This is by far the best way to store your VG Base NIC, I use the same :) and all Nic

I also store all my full unopened bottles of juice in the fridge, but once I take them out and use them keep them out then, and in a cool dry area. Or pour what I am going to use into another bottle and back in the fridge the big bottle goes.

Thanks for all the responses, but you answered all of them exactly ! I feel so much better as it has been real hot. I buy my bottles and my DIY stuff in big bottles. So now Im going to put my PG and Vg bottles in the fridge and put my larger bottles of ejuice in there too. I wll pour out into smaller bottles as I need. I have 4 mil bottles with fine syringe tops that makes filling my tanks, cartos and atties and fill as I need. :) this is the best place ever !

Here's a basic description of PG(Propylene Glycol):

Propylene glycol, also called 1,2-propanediol or propane-1,2-diol, is an organic compound (a diol or double alcohol) with formula C3H8O2 or HO-CH2-CHOH-CH3. It is a colorless, nearly odorless, clear, viscous liquid with a faintly sweet taste, hygroscopic and miscible with water, acetone, and chloroform.

About 2 years ago I decided to try and save big bucks by rolling my own cigs. I dont mean rolling them with Zig-Zags or anything, there are machines you can buy for $5-$100 that you take an empty filtered cigarette, called a tube, and you put it in the machine with some cig tobacco, and you pull a lever or push a slide back and forth and voila! You have a perfect cigarette. Well, shorty after Obama got in office, he found out that loose cigarette tobacco is very cheap, and not taxed very heavily, so he raised the tax on it like 2000% ! But he didnt raise the taxes on pipe tobacco, so the cigarette tobacco makers started selling their cigarette tobacco and calling it fine shredded pipe tobacco! But it was the same cigarette tobacco they were selling before!

So there is always a loophole that someone will find!
